no time to comment....3d printer warming up to make this RIGHT NOW! What skill you have, brings these items right to life! If the film industry is not beating your door down.....they should be!
This will be exciting to see. I just recently finishing building the "bone organ" from Goonies for my upcoming escape room. Complete with sounds for each key and when played in the correct three sets of sequences unlocks three separate drop down windows.
Don't remember the details of Goonies, but I am going to see if I can find it and watch it. I am of the generation who definitely watched it though. As always, I love your video! Thanks for making!
I’d like to see you adopt Adam Savage wires vertically in a board and drill a hole just big enough in the prop for the wire to fit. Then you could simply rotate the built base so you can nearly spray the entire prop. Of coarse conceal the tiny hole before final coat. Or not?
Hey Derek, I'm going with a cheesy sci-fi theme this year for my apartment (Frankenstein's Lab meets Mars Attacks kinda vibes), and Im having a hard time putting together some ideas and projects to go with the theme. Ive always gone Gothic and Witchy horror. Any ideas for reusing existing props would also be useful!
Specimen jars was the first thing to come to mind. Anything referencing "electricity" (wiring, electrodes, etc.) would be fun and could be done on the cheap.
This key was the first prop I ever had 3D printed. I still have it, but I might try refinishing it using your steps, since I went a little heavy on the patina
Love it! I had to come back to one of your copper projects bc I couldn’t get my patina to look right. I was spraying the blue and then spritzing it down with water and it looked like bird poo all over my project ☠️ I’ll try the dab/wet/remove method! Lol I’m going to try the baking soda in it too!
Great job, sir. Love the Goonies (such a classic). I never get tired of watching faux metal painting tutorials. Definitely a seaworthy, realistic, patina. 🤘💀
Another great paint job! I was "surprised" you didn't weather up the leather too, but you had mentioned the prop telling your "own story" and maybe you added a new strap to your found treasure! I loved the techniques and the clouding up of the patina. I have never tried that and it came out amazing!
Goonies is one of my all time favourite movies from my childhood! Your key looks amazing and the techniques you shared are very helpful. Thanks for putting out this video. The key and Copperpot's wallet are two of the props I still want/need to make for my own collection.
Great project!! I love the Goonies. My one thought is that if the key is very old, would the leather lanyard be old and worn as well? How could that be made to look old and worn?
Hey D! I haven't watched in months, so gorging on your videos is a treat. I have an idea, and likely, you already beat me to it. What about using a vibratory tumbler to sand 3D prints?
Nicely done! I really do need to get me a 3d printer. They are approaching affordable levels and I can make some small cool props, too! Thank you for sharing with us!

Yes! They're not knocking yet, but hopefully soon!
Another great video. Thank you for showing us your tips and tricks. I appreciate you taking time to film your projects.
The Goonies is one of my Favorite Movies, Nicely Done Sir. Love it.❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊
YES! One of my top ten favorite movies!!! Please do more props from the Goonies! Data had all kinds of good stuff!
I'm in the process of making his dart launcher belt buckle haha
@@PropGuru702 sweet! Do you have a channel where you’re going through your build?
Goonies never say die! I’ve been to Astoria Oregon and they have a whole lil museum to the film in the old jail they filmed in.

I would absolutely love to see this. How can I contact you ?
you had me at bone organ and escape room- where is this?
I would include a photo of it if I knew how to attach it.

It looks amazing! As always your paint & aging techniques are spot on.
Thank you so much!
Again such an AWSOME result. Thanks for another helpful tutorial, I love it 🙂
You are so welcome!
Amazing job as always! I just met the guy who bought the Goonies house, I wonder if he has one of these. If I see him again, I’ll ask him.

As always, I love your video! Thanks for making!
I always wanted one of these. Very cool. I have a few prop replicas I bought from the movie National treasure.
I love it. I am definitely making one of these. Thanks.
Just printed one of these and gonna make it into a necklace. May make another smaller version, though.
Love the patina work!
Awesome! Thank you!
@@VanOaksProps I finally made my One Eyed Willy Copper Bones Key necklace with a leather cord with two adjustable knots. Loved the way it turned out!
LOVE it! Do you think you could make the moving Addams Family clock? Might take more than a few afternoons.
Possibly!

I actually have something along those lines, it just had another project on it when I filmed this.

That final layer of blue and baking soda really makes the whole thing pop. Very nice.

Awesome paint work! Aging and weathering are my bread and butter when it comes to projects like this! Well done! God bless!
Thanks a bunch!

How ironic- I just printed this off last week lol. Thanks for the tips!
Love that baking soda tip. I’ve had issues in the past getting a good opacity with washes.
Looks great. I'm surprised there wasn't any detail on the back of the prop.
There may have been, we just never see it. Fans have made their own versions with an inscription on the back, but as far as we know it’s not accurate.
@@VanOaksProps I'll have to remember that and if it's appropriate, ask one of the actors, if I ever see them at a comic con.

I had thought about it but really was short on time this week. Thankfully I can go back and do it later.
Great project. I’ve always wanted one, now I know how to make one 👍

If you need assistance with the wallet, let me know. I have Accurate digitals of all the wallet contents
Great project!! I love the Goonies. My one thought is that if the key is very old, would the leather lanyard be old and worn as well? How could that be made to look old and worn?
Absolutely. You could take sandpaper to it, a bit of dark brown acrylic paint to discolor it in places, etc.
Is there a somewhat simple way of making this if I don’t have a 3D printer?
You could sculpt it from clay
A classic effort for a classic movie. Great well!
😊
Awesome Goonies Prop.

Probably too violent for 3d prints, but I like the idea.

Go for it!
