Thanks again, Corrine. Such an enjoyable presentation, lively & witty. At a few points I laughed aloud. Your treatment of the whole ridiculously overdone question of HDT's laundry is the funniest and most sane I've ever heard. The illustration of misquotation/paraphase is also valuable. (The section I wanted expanded was in relation to Thoreau & "God"--more on the differences between his views of the "divine" and those of his congregationalist/Unitarian ancestors and neighbours. Was "God" for him mostly a metaphor of what's most exquisite in Nature and the best in ourselves, or/and a Creator we can pray to and hear from? Was Thoreau, like Buddhists, not really a theist? Would he have been happier to be called a "pagan"?)
Thanks for your kind comments, Brian! Wow, it sounds as if you're really digging into the religious/spiritual part of his life. I'm not a good one to talk about that aspect. But if I had to choose between your two options for Henry -- as "God" being either a metaphor of what's most exquisite in Nature, or Someone who could be prayed to and heard from -- I'd pick the first one as what Henry might have preferred. Again, I'm going on nothing but my own instincts. Maybe you could analyze the evidence and distill it and such and come up with a definitive answer. :-)
An another excellently performed presentation, Corinne! It's informative, entertaining and enticing at the same time. Shining!
Kudos, Corinne! What an excellent presentation! Your interesting, clever explanations and delivery are wonderful. Thank you!
Thanks for the continued support and kind comments, Luella! It was fun to put together.
Why read a bad poem putting him down?

I guess... “to be great, is to be misunderstood... “
Indeed!

Thanks so much for this Corrine. A fun and informative listen and I loved the tidbit about Emily Dickinson.
