Was already a fan of hers before this tourney but wow, I'm bawling now too. Most emotional I've ever been for a sports victory ever...as someone who also nearly ended my life a few times, it's so touching to watch you alive and thriving. Thank you Jomez for capturing it so beautifully.
I think the combination of Jomez’s expose piece on Kat, the exciting finish, and her emotion at the end make her win the most compelling single tournament story I’ve seen in disc golf. I was pretty dang emotional seeing her get the trophy.
What an epic battle!! I was so invested and you couldn’t have written this better. I connected with Kat’s story and was rooting for her to have this moment. Then you have Hailey that is so much fun to watch and kept the pressure on, Missy who is always in the mix, and Aria ,at only 16, showing that she has a really bright future in the sport. After Kristin was out of the picture, i was rooting for her! I mentioned her in the last comment here, that i like her throwing style and i hope she will improve and now she has won a tournament! SO HAPPY for her, well deserved and that outburst of joy was something else, there was a lot of weight on her shoulders and she did it! Congrats from Germany!
I think it was pretty obvious last season that Kat Mertsch and Holyn Handley were going to two players to keep your eyes on this season and these ladies did not disappoint!
Congrats to Kat on a hard fought battle (in more ways than one). I also want to give a shout out to the commentary team who stayed absolutely silent throughout that incredibly emotional celebration at the end. Never has a minute and 12 seconds of silence sounded so good.

I had to google that Aria is truly 16.. I definitely didn’t believe Madison lol but turns out she’s 100% correct! It’s just so hard to believe because she doesn’t look or act like a 16 year old (both in a good way). Seems like a mature competitor who is going to be in the mix a lot in her future! 👍🏻
One reason I love watching the FPO rounds is how genuinely supportive all the ladies are of each other and how they are so genuinely happy for each other when they. Yeah, yeah, there are exceptions, but by and large they are all so awesome!

That pure emotion at the end didn't make me cry, but it definitely gave me a huge lump in my throat. I've never seen someone scream like that after a win. It was like letting out all the pressure they felt all at once.
It's like DDO. Wind makes the course. It drastically impacts your disc choice, line choice, putting, and focus. It even makes those sloped greens even more sketchy as we saw on hole 12 with Aria making the smart choice and her disc still rolled.

I feel like playing with Kat brought out the best in Hailey- who seemed relaxed, and smiling… and Kat- winning or not, she’s fun to watch, and she throws so pretty.
Really cool… this was the first ever pro tour event I’ve been lucky enough to make it to and (I didn’t know this) apparently she is from that area and the crowd just went absolutely nuts when she tapped in for the win.
