Hey Vanessa! How do we find out more if we’re interested?
Hi Vanessa, you still have your house for rent ?I’m looking for place me and my family for 5 weeks period.Let me know if you have other places for rent also
Greetings Vanessa Kambi, The house is indeed really huge and 2K monthly isn't bad at all. Apartments here in Seoul South Korea are running around 4k monthly for an apartment just a little smaller than the one you are showcasing there in Ghana. Thanks so much for sharing Queen.of two cultures.
Let's all take into account the income of people renting the house. Despite Vanessa being a Scot and Ghanaian, she lives and works in Scotland. Thus her income plus her husband's will allow for them to rent at that price.
Allow a girl to live a little and chillax
Some of the comments exposes your ignorance. Remember Vanessa is a middle class woman in every instrument you use in analyzing her. You don’t expect her to live like you. This is how most middle class people live worldwide. She makes her money not locally. Some of us pay as much as £18,000.00 not dollars a year for one child’s education in UK. This is the route some of us may have chosen that is our business. The average middle class in Uk spends well more than £2000 on their house rent or mortgage. Some of us have chosen to give our children the best education, live in areas of affluence etc. That is a choice. Why can’t Vanessa do they same. We are not all equal demographically. Let wisdom be applied to your comments. Again she is not at your gate begging for support ❤️
I love this. Spot on! Probably it's just jealousy talking in most of them.
There's not one Ghanaian who can afford to pay $2,000 a month for a house on their salary. If they can, they would be living in their own houses. And if they do live in such a rented house, it is likely their employer - typically a bank- is paying for it. We're therefore left with expatriates who pay these ridiculous amounts, with the assistance of their employers (embassies, UN, multinationals, even so-called NGOs.). (There are apartments that go for $3,000 pm at Roman Ridge, which of course no Ghanaian can afford.)
So we're building the country up for foreigners to live in the best homes, while most of our people live in substandard homes in substandard communities. No wonder there's so much corruption.
Exactly!!!
You are spot on! And I get the "so-called NGOs", lol. Most of them help themselves more than anyone else...
Agreed
Exactly the situation. Was just waiting for some sensible comment. A Ghanaian worker who has enough money to rent a $2000 a month property, would rather build their own house. And while building their own house, they would rather live in a family house or live with a friend who has extra rooms to spare.
It's not up to the individual who builds a house, to rent it so cheap so people who don't have money can live in them Tell me which country does that? low income housing , eg , in America and UK ard subsidised by the government not individuals. Its nit individuals responsibility. Furthermore, the same issues your complaining about how the average citizen cannot afford to pay those rent prices in Ghana, is the same issues we are facing abroad and lots of people are becoming homeless because of it. A house like this in the US or UK will cost far more than 2000 dollars a month and those living in these countries know that very well. You can pay this price for a small apartment In London. I'm suspecting all these people complaining wouldn't be able to afford this house even if it was 1000 dollars a month.... I'm detecting some jealousy here.
As a Ghanaian living in the US, there's no way i will spend 2000 dollars a month in Ghana, it's big, but it's expensive as New York City. I watch your videos all the time and i have never commented, No matter how good it's, you should try to cut your expenses for your kids future. I suggested to Acheampongs like that ,but they didn't listen, and now they left Ghana. I wish i can talk to you directly.
I think that while people get all excited about the beautiful, wonderful, practical houses and are willing to sacrifice for that kind of rent (especially for their families' comfort), they forget that the outrageous cost of daily livelihood could tip over their well-planned budget. Let's face it, if rent is going up, so will the prices of basic food, basic amenities etc. - doubling, tripling or quadrupling. That is where the disconnect comes in. And I am not in any way saying this was the situation here since I do not know this family.
In NY you can. Only get a studio with $2000 a month. I'm from the Midwest and we can have studio apartments from $250 to 750 a month on the low-end. New York is over priced, over crowded place!
@Kwadzo Banka,I fully agree with u.How many people in Ghana will do that?
why are you in this family's pockets telling them what they should do with their expenses? People are a trip. You don't know this family's financial situation. Everybody is not concerned with pinching pennies. For all you know they/their family could be very wealthy.
Born and living in Texas (USA) the cost of living seems very expensive in Africa for a good home. These homes look like prisons with the barbed wired on the gates and metal structures on all the windows tells me crime must be an issue there. Way cheaper to live in Texas than in Ghana.
Vanessa! This place is HUGE and I see the beginning of your BABY BUMP! CONGRATULATIONS! Yeah!
With rent like this plus international school fees, I would also move back to Scotland myself.
The school fees were very reasonable.
Eish punchlines smh ..
@@VanessaKanbi For you they were. That wouldn't be for everyone, depending on the school. I used to live and work there. I know how much those schools charge. Especially schools like AIS, GIS and Lincoln. But I know there are also others that are not as expensive as them.
@@smd4751 Yes my kids weren't at those schools.
Please Vanessa stop trying to justify your actions. You are an adult. Live your life as you want it. People can choose to live in Peckham ,Brixton, Harlesden or Mayfair Belgravia Hampstead depending on the size of their pockets. Be free to live your life
I love that home. I love a big spacious home and that kitchen is awesome.
All the kitchen needed was an Island
Thanks for sharing Vanessa. Is it possible for you to get and share the building or house structural plan? I like the dimensions and the layout. 😊
Why would she have that?
House rent for 20000$?.Food, school fees etc has not be included?I now see the reasons diaspora are moving back to Europe. Thank God you moved back with your family to Scotland, you took the best decision. Over charging people from diaspora in Africa is not good.
Woaw this big house for that price! Space is luxury. I'm not sure you could find a better offer in my country 🇨🇮.
Your kids will have a lot of fun playing hide and seek 😄, perfect to live a childhood...
Congrats also for buying your furnitures with local businesses !💰♻
Is garden the word for yard. Here in the USA garden means you are growing plants, fruit, vegetables, even weeds if you trifling. All is see is yard and tress, that's why I'm asking. From Texas.
yes, garden is the word for yard.
The point some people are making here is NOT about Vanessa. This is about a $2000 monthly rent vis-à-vis salaries of Ghanaian workers in Ghana. Has nothing to do with Canada, Scotland, US - NY, DC etc. Of course, there are poor people everywhere in the world but that’s not what is being discussed here. Salary scales are different from country to country for a reason. Bye.
For $2000 Total one could buy my friend's LAND there! She's having to sell to make ends meet. It's in a scenic area close to the resorts and the famous Adome bridge
Look if you are remote worker being paid over 80k a year. Living in a 2k house is very cheap way to save that to earn that money and live abroad
Well said 👏🏾👏🏾
That is the whole point. How many Ghanaian workers in Ghana make $80k a year? If they did, they would build instead.
@@tiahbawa5771 Note that before you build, you also need somewhere to stay regardless. Also if you have lived most of your life abroad and you already take your children to private school abroad when the local schools are free, then you would prefer somewhere nice. An average Ghanaian has to cut their coat according to theirs. People who are living comfortable in Ghana and have never lived abroad already have their own home therefore they don’t pay rent. You can have all the money in Scotland and never experience great joy like the way Ghana makes you feel.
If you look at my earlier comment regarding building as an option, I clearly stated that while building, one may choose to live in a family home or with friends who may have extra rooms to spare. Next time, I’ll repeat such pertinent points with each comment to avoid unnecessary anguish.
This is the kind of lifestyle that makes some returnees move back to Babylon. You can get better places for less
Exactly
Defo can’t get better for less where I live in Scotland.
@@VanessaKanbi seriously?
Comparing any western nation to Ghana's economy is like comparing apples to oranges. They're not on the same level at all. So you can't compare it to what we'd pay in the US, Canada, the UK or Scotland.
@@VanessaKanbi each to their own. I have to wonder how one will ever build generational wealth by paying these daft rent rates and living like the Jones? For someone with a solid network in Gh, defo could get so much better VfM in Ghana. $24,000 a year on rent is for expats and diplomats in Gh whose employers are paying the bills; just ridiculous for a "normal" citizen to pay from their pockets and just puts too much pressure on family finances. I'm a big fan of your work and attitude to life, btw. You are an inspiration to many.
I LOOOVE THAT OUTDOOR SPACE. I want to be there. Would you leave it furnished and rent it out ?
Wishing you all the best with new baby. Lovely house and beautiful dress. Take care of yourself, and welcome back to the UK 🇬🇧
Venessa the way you constantly talk about your house tour in Ghana I would have thought 💭 you’ll have bought an actual house 🏡 in Ghana.
😂 I’m building my house
What is the complaint about renting a wholehouse for $2000/month...it is a whole house for God sake ...she has her own plans and can surely make up for that money with having that much space and rooms... she can rent out even some rooms on Airbnb but surely she has her plans for this gorgeous home space.
That's overpriced and too much money for rent. Rent is overpriced in Accra. Not to mention they would want that $2000 one to two years in advance, not monthly. So at $24,000 initially. We don't even have to do that in the west unless it's a down-payment to purchase a home or some land etc. Not all at once for rent.
$2000 in a third world I'll pass
That is massive for $2000 , love it, this is in Ghana.
2K is expensive - by Ghana standards, even for a house. These high end neighbourhoods are something else
Hi, i wanted to ask whether it was an easy process taking your dog with you to Scotland. I also have a dog (labrador) and I want to visit Ghana in December. I have no one to take care of him, so I want to bring him along. I am from the Netherlands.
You want to buy your dog a ticket? And get him a visa?

Good video as always . But I don’t know why the govt is doing nothing about those who just charge any amount of money they want because they have houses . It doesn’t take money to prevent people getting being exploit as a government . Why are the rent charged in dollars too ? It is part of the reasons the cedi depreciates

If renting from a double income expat perspective it might seem reasonable although I disagree till some extent especially renting in Joburg 2 k USD can get you way better property then Accra presents. But it's also the market demand momentum, safety and Obroni coming in jacking up the prices. I have traveled many countries in the continent and barely any builds affordable housing for the locals which is a shame. Even most diaspora cannot afford it.
To all the people in the comment section saying 2k is expensive, it is not. Spending $ 2000 for an entire house in Ghana is very cheap. In California precisely San Francisco, Los Angels, a small studio apartment can cost $1500 to $3000. New York and DC is worse. An entire house like this in the States is priced half a million and above(as USD). So it very cheap in Ghana.
I agree. An entire house like this in the area of Scotland where I live is atleast £5,000 per month.
In Toronto, my family is paying $2500 CAD just for the upper unit of a house, 3 bed, 1 bath. I would love to have a home like this and for $2k! That would be so amazing and such a blessing.
Ghanaians like to complain about eeer-thing! They won't travel and see, just complaints all day long. They will sit there and complain whilst others will come in, see what they have and enjoy it!
@@indede9787 how about they can complain when they don’t have access for foreign currency. Make it make sense.
@@mariam9977 lots of properties going in Gh cedis. Not everything is for everyone.. and that doesn't just apply to Ghana.

WOA , dirty expensive, much cheaper to have an apartment Oslo, Norway than in Ghana. Scares me for any investment in Ghana.
With that money for rent, I will live far from a prime area of Accra. I will find a smaller house, I will get a tutor for my kids and all the money saved will go into building my house. Renting for so much....is just Crazy. Before you know it, you' ll get Broke and you have to go back to the cold West.
Courage Vanessa. Africa will always welcome you back whenever your finance will permit.

Hi Vanessa how was schooling and medical, dental and such for your children?
Am waiting for more
$2K/month for rent is alot even in the US. My mortgage isn’t even that much.
If you want access to reliable amenities like in the US and also in a great location. you have to pay luxury and premium prices. That is just how it is in Africa. I wish people would understand this. Don't compare your house to this. just ask better questions
@@thenigeriannomad If I’m paying luxury prices I want luxury product. Can you afford this rent
Depends where you live. You can’t even get a 2 bed apartment for that now in the dc md va area now.
@@anyangrb Depending on interest rate, mortgages for some town homes are quite reasonable. Of course, apartments are quite expensive to rent or even own. Agree with you.

My goodness 2000 dollars apartment in Ghana no way.

so you think because it is in Ghana it should be cheaper? so you'd be prepared to pay those prices in a white man's country though. It just goes to show how you think about Africa and the value you are prepared to put on others but not your own.... very sad

IT IS CALLED LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. What don’t you understand about this. Can’t compare prices in Mayfair or Belgravia to Hackney Peckham etc 😀
Nice houses but your sister still living in Ghana 🇬🇭 ?
A huge house and a huge dog :o
Totally RUBBISH. Vanessa is an adult and she doesn’t come to you with a begging basket. $2000 for this magnificent house is peanut to all intent and purposes for the international market. Anyway she didn’t move out because she couldn’t afford. She is building her own house and as a pregnant woman who can benefit from dual citizenship, which most wealthy Westerners do, she’s opted to go back to Scotland for a period of time. What is your problem with that?
I hope you can find someone to rent
A house like this in the UK can be afforded by the rich folks.
Same as in ghana hmm
I wonder why people in the comments find this huge house with tight security and fencing expensive for 2k. My cousins pay 4k plus a month for a upstairs apartment in South Africa 😂 they don’t even complain. This is a full house for crying out loud also in a prime area.. smh
and the house has a generator.... its envy.
Because its on the expensive end of the affordability scale for many... that's why.
Your cousin either lied to you badly, or someone is renting them an apartment in a building next to sandton city or something. I live in south africa and with $2000/ R35 000 you will get a beautiful house in one of the more exclusive areas. This house is below average at best, but in ghana its probably more than that. Different countries different standards.
South africa and ghana are two completely different things they aren’t comparable 🤣😭
@@kehindeemiabata4032 definitely not envy. I own seven houses in Ghana, all high standard properties with generator in nice areas and I don’t charge these prices. I charge in cedis and would never slap a dollar price on any house I rent. The truth is security and gated community mean nothing in Ghana, you can live in a gated community and still get robbed. One of the biggest cases in Ghana of murder and theft took place in a gated community. Security men will take bribe for armed robbers to enter. Gated and fenced with generator means nothing. Those things, you can have security and generator in a normal house in a nice area for quarter the price in Ghana if you know where to look.
Brasses still exist! Right..

Ghana is not America or Europe. Ghana Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers etc don’t earn £2000 a month to talk of renting for same amount !

🥴2000 DOLLARZ a month to live in a country with terrible infrastructure and no healthcare system to speak of by choice?
