  • Johnny Gill's fourth studio album, Provocative was released on June 8th, 1993. The beginning of the nineties would mark the peak of his career and success. His second self-titled album going on to achieve multi-platinum sales with the help of his hits: My, My, My, Rub You The Right Way, Fairweather Friend and Wrap My Body Tight. Around this time, each member of New Edition had experienced their share of solo stardom and opted to continue their careers apart from the group. The hitmakers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and L.A Reid and Babyface would return to pen and produce his next solo effort, along with Boyz II Men who would also contribute to the project. The album would spawn the songs: The Floor, I Got You, Long Way From Home and Quiet Time To Play. Although the album fell short in terms of sales in comparison to his third album, it did however begin the pattern of consistent good music being released from Johnny for many years to come.
