I've been ordering quilting products (fabrics, tools, ect) from Temu since they began and have had no issues. Also, some of the items are the very same things I've purchased from Amazon and paid more for. Their return policy is easy and I'll likely continue ordering.

I think this is good for people who are on a low budget. You can wash all the fabric and they do come up ok. Have also got fabric from them with no smell. Please remember most of the products you buy from Amazon are made in China. 17:13

Thanks for sharing; I think I’ll keep my money here in the US supporting US companies. I have ordered some of my quilting products from Amazon and they come from US stores.
They are more expensive, but I feel it is worth the extra for the better quality and to support small businesses.

The red lines going sideways on the foot are 1/4”, very handy if you want to stop 1/4” before the end. Very nice when you are setting in pieces, like making 8 or 6 point stars and Tumbling Blocks.

For the most part, I have had good luck with sewing supplies from them! I don’t care if it doesn’t have the brand name stamped on it! What we buy here in the states are “made in China” branded by a company! Why pay the extras? Yes, some was junk, but I expected that.

  • @pegasusquilts

I have concerns I havent seen mentioned in other comments:
How much do working conditions/wages where these products are made contribute to their low cost? Do we want to support that?
What is the impact on our environment of buying items that duplicate what we have? Plastic is a huge global problem. Textile production is one of the world's largest polluters.
Yes smells from most products will dissioate in air or can be washed out. But the same is true for fabric you or somebody else have stored fot a while in stash or that you can find second hand, or even in used garments.
I appreciate the review. Temu's ads are everywhere.
But if sewists want to save money and the earth, I suggest being selective about what you acquire and avoid things which will need to be replaced soon. Maybe even ask around among friends if anyone has unneeded spare tools or fabric they would like to sell you. (Some will even just give you their spares if you ask!
    Lets stop wasting!

Good points! Same goes for Amazon, Walmart, Target etc. Each of us should be allowed to make our own decisions based on many factors, such as, cost, availability, personal conscience, environmental concerns. Having tried TEMU out, I doubt I’ll buy much, if anything from them again, but I won’t be criticizing anyone who chooses to do so.

I have purchased plenty of good items on Temu. I have not had any problems and have been very happy with all I received. Their jewelry is very strong and good too. Their pots are very great. I do diamond painting and their kits are fabulous and inexpensive. Yarns and fabrics are not do great. Fabric is thin and yarn is not strong.
My fabrics did Not have any odor to it.
I was told Temu had warehouses in the USA and then they ship to you.
I bought other fancy scissors from Temu and they are very sharp.

The reason for the red mark closest to the front of the foot the 1/4” foot is to tell you when you are 1/4” away from where you need to turn when sewing a straight seam away from the end of the fabric and the red mark near the needle tells you when to start sewing your curve. A hint to help with this is to mark the start of your pivot point and the starting point of your curves.

Thing is, most goods from Dollar Store in US, and Poundland in UK come from China. I have noticed a lot of goods from Amazon are made in China.
Temu appears...to be simply obtaining direct rather than paying a middle man in UK or US.

I bought the same rotary cutter locally some time ago and it was the same as yours, so I took it apart, cleaned out the dust/grit/etc, then smeared the blade and disc with sewing machine oil dropped onto my finger and re-assembled. Bingo...works better than brand name cutters I already owned. Don't forget the locking button as well. Make sure you wipe excess oil with a tissue or scrap of fabric. For what Temu charges I don't think anyone can complain about the quality of items...that's just my 2 cents worth!
Also, the polyester fabric squares you purchased, would make pretty bias binding for necklines etc to a plain Tshirt.

Temu is actually used by Amazon. Amazon jacks the prices WAY up, but a lot of things I’ve found and bought on Amazon came from Temu. I’m sorry you didn’t like the fabric. I’d heard about the odd smell but mine didn’t have it and the quality was very good for the price. All in all, I’ve had very good luck. They “lost” an order of mine and refunded within a few minutes. MINUTES! When most companies make you wait a week or more. So yeah, I highly recommend Temu to most everyone.

Most of the products that you already buy from The Dollar Store and Hobby stores are made in China. The only difference is they put different labels on them which then drives up the price. The same factories are making them. I wish that there were factories in the US making products but very few exist. There used to be factories in NC making beautiful textiles. They no longer exist.

I have bought several sewing related items as well as other craft supplies. I have not had any issues and most items are way cheaper than other sources. Use the polyester fabric to make some tiny quilts for your children. Just wash the fabrick if you think it smells. If you don't want it take it to a senior center the can use it for their craft days.

Thankyou, some interesting items that I shall be ordering. Consumers have been buying 'Made in China' products in our highstreet stores for years. Also, many companies have switched their manufacturing to China or import components for assembly and then sell products as made in the home country. Temu is no different from ordering from Amazon who also supply from China, but Temu offer a better service and often better prices. My experience with Temu has been excellent, with only one disappointment and they instantly gave me a full refund without the need to return the item. Local companies promote on-line shopping but the level of service is often not as good as it should be - and likely the goods are imported from China anyway!

I just had someone try and buy airline tickets in Florida on my credit card and I live on the west side of the country. I am a chicken when it comes to new things like that. I like the old days when you went to stores and paid with cash. There was more competition locally and you could find all those great prices. My grandmother and I called some of them junk stores, we loved them.

The fabric…use it for crafting instead of quilting.
I bought a rotary cutter YEARS ago from a fabric store & it wouldn’t turn…there was an extra blade, not to mention it needed to be loosened & it was fine. I’ve bought a magnetic seam guide, clips to hold fabric, a seam ripper, crochet hooks, little clip type things for help with counting with crocheting…all worked great!! I also bought a tension ring for my finger for crocheting, didn’t work so great, but makes an interesting looking ring for my forefinger!! Only once or twice have I been disappointed in what I’ve received.

Fabrics stored in warehouses usually have a chemical like formaldehyde to keep fabrics from molding and to repel vermin and insects. You must not have any upper respiratory allergies. I'd never stick my nose in any fabric that I've purchased before I wash it. No matter if it's high-end quilting stores to Goodwill. Just saying. And you'll be surprised when you wash the fabric with non-chlorine bleach and a hot dryer setting to wash out any chemical residue, dyes and the heat will kill any microbe germs and shrink the fabric to a pleasant weave. I'll have to order from TEMU today. My husband thanks you for finding another place for me to shop online lol. :)

The red lines are to help with horizontal and vertical measurements. Like if sewing a pillow and you want exact quarter inch or half inch or 1 inch start vertically you can get matching seam horizontally. It helps especially with dollhouse sewing or quilting to help get exact seams from corner measurements. Least that's what I do with them. My daughter bought me a bunch of plastic feet sets like those from temu and amazon as a gift. Most actually worked for what I needed especially sewing doll items for my granddaughters.

I've purchased many items from TEMU from clothing to gardening bags to kitchen gadgets to fabric to sewing notions . In my experience you do get what you pay for.. many items had to be returned. However I have been very pleased with the price and quality of heavy (bridal type) lace and applique pieces. The site is almost all Chinese stuff... but people... so is most things you buy at craft stores and box stores. They have Free shipping.. free returns... usually I've not had to return the refunded items but that has to do with the amount being refunded/returned. I did deep dives into the items I purchased to check carefully sizes, dimensions, and reviews I felt like were real people... no different than I do with any purchase online. TEMU can be a value.

Thanks for the review. Very helpful, I was wondering about the rotary cutter and surprised with 1/4” foot. Thanks again.

This rotary cutter is the same design as Olfa, you are suppose to loosen the back screw to adjust the blade pressure.

I think that Temu compares more to Wish. I'm making doll clothes and I've ordered a lot from Temu. Some beautiful trims and the small fabric squares. Also those things that you poke into spools to attach the bobbin are great. They ship much faster than Wish. And if you don't get it in time they will reimburse some of your money or give you money off your next order.

Very interesting thank you for doing this. I too have ordered just under £20 worth of goods from Temu. Waiting for them to arrive and looking forward to comparing and seeing what sort of quality they are.

Thank you for the informative video. I purchased a black apron from Temu, just to see the quality. It's ok but you cannot tie it around, because the straps are too short! Also, the "stash and store," you can buy at five below for $5. I bought the Dritz water-on-one-end, air erasable on the other end for $2 apiece. Would be curious to know if the cheaper ones from temu last as long as dritz. I would be worried about the temu markings coming back over time or with ironing. I think your best buy was definitely the 1/4" foot. I hate the idea of buying from China. But, look in stores and see what all comes from China.

I purchased a straight handled (orange handle) 45mm rotary cutter with manual retract button from Temu for $4.38. So far it seems very sturdy and works just as well as my same style Fiskars cutter. It’s very sharp and rolls smoothly. Time will tell! Unfortunately it’s hard to tell what your getting for the money until it arrives, but so far I’ve been pleasantly surprised with my sewing related purchases.

Made in China? Yes. So is 90% of what I buy at Walmart or from Amazon. Once Jeff Bezos built his rockets for the fun of it and his zillion dollar yacht, I was fine buying from Temu at one quarter the cost. Money IS staying in America... the money I save by buying direct from China and not putting my money in Jeff Bezos pocket. Why should I send him $15 for the exact same product I buy on Temu for $3? And the $12 difference stays right here when I buy groceries or out to eat. Of course I'd prefer to buy USA products, but they're getting hard to find!

Most items we buy are "made in China" from material to car parts I purchased birds nest ponytail holders less than $2 Walmart sells the same thing for $12.99 that is a huge mark up

for the rotary cutter you have to adjust the black nob in the back you have loosen the blade a little in order for it to roll smoothly.

Most of the products we buy in America are made in China or other Asian countries, so Temu can sell the same products without the brand names and sell them cheaper. Some of their items are rip offs of copyrighted products. I wouldn't buy anything from them that I wouldn't be willing to throw it away if it wasn't satisfactory, because I surely wouldn't try to return it for a refund.

Now we've all settled in with Temu, there's less differential between amazon and Temu prices, unless you manage to get a Temu special deal ,which you might. However for quality, speed of delivery, and returnability, I'm now almost always sticking with amazon. One area where maybe Temu has the edge is for anything Chrinese themed. I've found some sweet and inexpensive little things which never make their way to amazon.

I've had three orders now and it can be hit or miss. The keyrings, titanium mens rings are definitely great. I also got dog leads which are great. The prices are excellent it's so easy to spend because of the prices. It's a bit like going to IKEA, you come out with loads of smalls lol. Just be choosy it what you buy. The descriptions are vague in a lot of cases.

I am curious if they are like other Chinese companies that steal other designs and make identical products, instead of tweaking it and making it their own. They use the hard work done by the original designer-duplicate it then take sales away from the designer, often even stealing the designer’s photos. If I can find the answer to that I can decide whether I would do business with them.

Our U.S. stores sell sewing items that are made in China. I paid 0.98 each for replacement bobbin case for a Singer 9005 sewing machine that would have cost $14. if purchased out of a store selling also made in China bobbin case. Purchased glasses with transitional lenses for about $7. that are equal to those I paid $80. Both are equal for walking and reading (poist cataract surgery). The set of 11 quick release presser feet were $2.57 and were equal to those purchased via Amazon, for $12. and both sets were made in China

I have brought many rulers, sewing tools and varigated threads from TEMU, desk chairs and a couple of other larger items...I have had a couple of instances when item was damaged or missing (in transit??) BUT the company was great in refund or sending out another like order free without a big hassle.
2.) there is a low or free ship charge depending on amt of $$ spent. Many of the plastic rulers/templates are the same as our name brand quilt stores...but without the name logo or possibly "seconds?"
3.) I do not buy clothing or fabric..but I have brought many comfortable style non-dress shoes.
4.) the same item can be listed different places on TEMU but with different prices...so if it looks low priced there might be the same item listed on the next page or cat for a lower price.
5.) there are some larger items that are being stocked in usa/can that will arrive in 2-3 days no shipping or very low ship charge, otherwise u are waiting days n days for ordered items to pass thru customs because they are from China.
6.) I expect one of these days TEMU China might no longer be available here. Also I use Paypal for all orders, non-specific to a store card.
PS/As for aliexpress, I did have a damaged small intro order come in and that was a hassle, plus when you put things in the cart it looks u are charged sh/handling for each item...??? So, far i only "trust" temu.

I bought a water bottle from Temu. I have one that looked the same. It said it was 32 oz. Turned out to be less than 16 oz. Only half the size of my other one. I also bought some buttons and they were fine.
