Information is right. But Tezpur, Jorhat and Dibrugarh comes way ahead of Silchar in terms of development and growth. Not sure how come Karimganj is there in the list and not Sibsagar which is a tourist place full of ancient architecture and rich history.

I am Ghy'tian but population of Ghy city is 16 Lacs not 25 Lacs ....Area of city has increased to 305 sq kms after adding Narengi , 9th mile , Dharapur within the municipality ...Ghy city has 18 hills within the city limits covering an area of 96 sq kms of which 45% are still forest covered ...It has 3 railway stations within its limit ...It houses the largest wholesale market of entire NE in the Fancy Bazaar , AT Road & Paltan Bazaar area of the city ...The city has got 1 IIT , 1 state Engineering college & 7 Pvt engineering colleges with 2 state universities & 2 Pvt universities ...Cotton College University is the oldest college of NE from 1901 in the Panbazaar locality !
Not 2 private universities. I guess it's 5.. Assam down town University, Assam Don Bosco University, Royal Global University, Girijananda Choudhury University, Pragjyotishpur University ..
