- This Power Automate video is an introduction to Data Operations in flow. You'll learn about some common data operations in flow, such as Compose, Join, Select, Filter arrays, Create tables, and parse JSON. These actions are available to manipulate data when you create flows.
Flow Data Operations:
🔵 Compose Action - Use the Data Operation - Compose action to save yourself from having to enter the same data multiple times as you're designing a cloud flow.
🔵 Join - Use the Data Operation - Join action to delimit an array with the separator of your choice.
Select - Use the Data Operation - Select action to transform the shape of objects in an array
🔵 Filter Array - Use the Filter array - Data Operation action to reduce the number of objects in an array to a subset that matches the criteria you provide
🔵 Create CSV table - Use the Create CSV table - Data Operation action to change a JSON array input into a comma-separated value (CSV) table

I usually rename data operations like this "Compose - Name" this helps me identify the type of action used in the future. Especially when more than one data operations are used.

Terrific tips as always. Regarding select data operation you can Add new properties to your array items with expression: addProperty(, '', ) so you can add for e.g. a 'url' property and a value based on the name and some string manipulation. #powerautomateexpressionsFTW

Hi Reza. You've won a new subscriber here. Keep up the good work. The only thing that confused me a bit in your 2nd last example is the mechanism used by the 'apply to each' to filter the SharePoint list. Does it pull the whole list and then filter somehow in the select action (which means I misunderstood the select action) or is the 'get list' action implicitly filtering the list from each status. If the latter how does it know which data field to filter in the SharePoint list? i.e. When you say query you mean filter query in the advanced option? Not so obvious if so because it is not expanded in your video like other parts... Loved the video, especially the use cases with diverse examples focusing on the data operation theme. Thank you.

Get Items SharePoint - one should always use filter query (odata) - I have done 2 videos on it.

For grouping, is there a way to further filter the get items based on another column? I have a list of tasks, with column of assigned to and another column (multi person) for backups. I want to send email to each user showing past due tasks, with one table where they are assigned (have this working) and another table of items they are backup for that are past due. Is there a way to do that without a second get items action?

Thank you for this video and all the wonderful work you do. I am looking for a way to update my approvers list based on the response data from a wait for an approval action. The select data operation has all the users, their email id, and approval status. How can I update the approvers SharePoint list. Please note that the flow is configured into a different list.

Yes but it would be in JSON array format. You could use join expression to convert it into a string with a delimiter.

I'm trying to run a script and create separate documents based on selected rows in an excel table.
When I only select 1 or 2 rows at a time it works consistently, but if when doing larger groups (4+) it seems to skip running the script for some files. it creates the file from the template, but then doesn't populate it. However, its inconsistent - skipping row 2 sometimes and row 4 others. Any ideas?

Hi Reza, I had a question please.. I have an email that contains a table. The email will be triggered based on date and OData filters set in Get Items linked to a sharepoint list.. I am using HTML to generate a table that will go into the table which has some information for each record that meets the filter.. the list has a person field though which is multi select.. So when I initiate a variable to pull the display names from that field, all names pulled are listed for each record.. Do you know how I can get only the relevant fields for each record please? Can you please help me figure out, how to pass data from Forms or from another list to a Choice column? Multiselect option is not enabled in My choice column. And I don;t need multiselect in my scenario, I want to add a single choice only.

Ive been struggling to find a solution that would allow me to get the items from 2 different SPO lists and add them to a CSV/HTML table in a single row. One list has a single row of data the other has multiple rows "linked" to the other table via ID. When i use the select + Union operation it adds multiple rows to the final result. the join operation seems to give a single row but its a string. Have you come across this type of issue before?

@@galdancio Its just sample data I prepared. I build 10-20 flows a week and keep reusing. May not even have this anymore and would need to search. You can pause and see the data and try and replicate 2 or 3 items of the array.

Hello Reza I have a requirement in which I need to filter an array and the filter query must be dynamic ( there is a sp list with all the parameters which needs to be included/excluded) , I tried developing this , but the dynamic query which I create is of the type string (has “” )so it is failing in the filter array action , it’s not evaluating into Boolean value. How can I solve this issue ? . I can use variables to store the filter field and value but how can I manage the length of the query for ex if I have to filter users based on their job titles ( contractors and managers) , how can I dynamically build a query incorporating both the conditions since the variable can hold only one job title and for adding another I have to create another query and AND it with the first?

Reza, I have two integers in power automate that I get from get items. I need to divide integer A into integer B and filter on the results. I then want to filter on the result of the division, for example, filter on fields that are less than 50%. How would I do this please.

I was told to use Office app like Power Automate, Power Apps, SharePoint, etc. which i never used during my time studying. Can you explain to me how to use Power Automate to populate a fillable PDF from MS Form?
This is the flow i was thinking:
MS Form > populate fillable PDF > flatten PDF > Send email
I'm now stuck at filling checkbox (or radio button), multiple choice checkbox, image, attachment, and dropdown.

Most of them are just talking about moving MS Forms text input to fillable PDF. It would be a great help if you're able to make it because you'll be the first one to do it.

I have a question and i think you can help me: have you made any video with multiple contract approvals flow where every approval can download the contract submitted and then make track changes and uploads then into the approval email his variat of contract with his comments? I’ve build a flow when a response is submitted on MS form a record is created in an activity entity with the response and is working fine. 1. How to handle race conditions in power automate? Ex : a flow,say like running after a button click in Power app . Two users click button at exact same time , flow getting data from sharepoint list at exact same time .. how to handle this ?
2. How to stop power apps user from directly editing data from datasource like SharePoint list . If they have access they directly go to sharepoint site at modify the list . I want users to communicate with list only from power app .

1 - Power Apps is user specific. Im not sure if there is a way to avoid multiple users calling flow at same time.
2 - Power Apps does not impersonate permissions. User must have access in order to perform the actions.

Hi Reza i want to ask how can i get the required attendees from outlook and add them all to a sharepoint list person or group field i'm having trouble with the content of the parse Json "The 'content' property of actions of type 'ParseJson' must be valid JSON. The provided value cannot be parsed: 'Unexpected character encountered while parsing value: e. Path '', line 0, position 0.'." this is the error that im getting i have the flow that saves the required attendees in a single line of text but with that i can not filter the gallery in powerapps based if that field contains my email or not i would appreciate the help

I’m confused as to how to create an array. I was trying to initialize an array with a key and two variables. Then I want to increment one of the two variables based on another list. Do you have some documentation or other videos on how to initialize an array and then modify the array by incrementing a variable based on criteria?

This is not an array. so you would need to work with these objects one by one. Response from Kristóf Borkowski is a good one!

Are you using the terms Array and Object interchangeably here? Seems like you’re saying Array when talking about Objects with key:value pairs.

For example, A is the manager of B and they (A and B) both have two direct reports each. The result I want is the email address of all four (two direct reports of A and two direct reports of B) as string separated by a semi-colon.

if approver whose part of SP Approval Group upload document in library then no need to go through workflow and automatically Approval Status column should Approve
I have try to fetch email of user present in group and compare with creater email but it is running only if 1 user is present. I want condition where All user in SP group I will get and compare and If user email match then set content Approval Status to Approve

its a employee performance appraisal system.
one employee can have multiple reviewers.
each reviewer can have multiple employees to review.
I have two sp list.
List1 is primary list, containing all employees info
List2 is foriegn key list. List2 has a column employeeId which is ID a primary key column in List1
I have fetch list of employees for each reviewer from list2 but i have employeeId in result.
I want to fetch employee name from list1 using employeeid from list2.
how can i achieve this. plz guide me.

Hi @Reza, I’m using an Ms form and i have multiple reviewers for a task. I have created automate flow and approval process. But I’m having difficulty in creating a dynamic approvers action. My ms form answers are saved in share points list using automate. Plz help
What i want is if I select multiple reviewers in ms form, and when this data comes in automate, the approval emails should be sent to the people selected in ms form.

I need a help in Power automate button flow. I have created flow to send an email to each customer .
When I am creating html table pending amount columns show some invoices pending amount as null but actually it is not null.
In filter array step that invoice pending amt is not null but in html table step those invoices are showing null(not all but some).
How to handle this.
