One of the best speeches I can remember. A funny man....a very good man....
Babu…? Is that you..? 😅
His life advice is spot-on, hard work, love, and humor. Good job Jerry!
Nothing subs for hard work! It worked for me. I'm a multi millionaire. When I was 17 and had a summer job at a meat processing plant, I worked so hard that, after I went back to school, the owner told me to come to work anytime that I wanted. Just show up and he would pay me. I did the work of three people. After I got my diploma I went work for 7 years. I decided to go back to school and my company supported me. When I came back for the summer, my supervisor told me that he noticed that things were not getting done when I was gone. I was one of 35 people doing the same work. Six years later, I was doing his job. Six years after that, I was the youngest Senior Manager in a company of 5000 employees.
@@elgastsos210 Thanks! They want work-life balance and to be the boss. Good luck with that.

Here's the question: What kind of things do you want to hear, if I was to encounter somebody like you in my city, and I want to pitch them my unique services: security cameras and surveillance, access control, computers and it support, hanging tvs, running wires.
Not only will we run all the wires and build your infrastructure, but we will also configure it all set it all up and be your it support team as well. Because in-house IT is expensive, they just call us and we come get it fixed and then we're out of your hair.
Lol, I need to encounter a wealthy customer that wants to adopt me, so I need to make my services attractive. I thought about putting on a long dress and going and standing on the corner with a big sign that says " security cameras" But, something tells me that just ain't going to work right.

It was an excellent speech and the students at Duke should be honored to have heard it.
A commencement address is in no one's wheelhouse, yet Jerry Seinfeld was terrific. A testament to his incredible talent and heart. Bravo! Plus, a well-earned honorary degree! Quite a weekend.

Great and not boring commencent speech!!!
It is so worth listening to ❤
@wendylam3768 I was there at the Commencement speech earlier and it was truly an iconic moment!!
Humorous people are the best to be around. They make life fun.
I agree, but what does that have to do with Jerry Seinfeld?
@@JeremySmithBryan It’s an observation. That’s Jerry Seinfeld.
I had the opportunity to see Jerry at a comedy club in Long Island before he was famous. He’s smart, Witty and never has to say one swearword to get a joke across. He was and still is my favorite artist, entertainer, honest human being 👏
Jerry is right. I am 77, and being able to laugh, or share something funny with others,
is far more healthy than a frown, worry, and being jealous somebody else made you laugh.
Wasn't that a recent thing? He made a comment not so long ago about how nobody laughs at his jokes anymore because of PC culture. I gotta ask, did you watch the roast of Tom Brady. After looking closely at the show, maybe Jerry wasn't the funny one. Maybe he was carried by an excellent cast (Jason Alexander). Kind of like Roseanne isn't funny anymore. If your jokes are, "maybe I should identify as a helicopter," just isn't that funny. Maybe, and I know this may come as a shock, but maybe those jokes come off as a little conservative... people love risky jokes, not conservative jokes. Conservative jokes always seem to be the same jokes in a slightly different package.

Inspirational advice for young people starting life's journey. Those who disgraced themselves by walking out demonstrated they're too ignorant to appreciate or even recognise the gift being offered, their loss sadly.

I was present at this event. The booing is in fact regarding several students that brought Palestinian flags and such. This happened after Seinfeld came out publicly as pro Isreal. It was very tense in the crowd for a minute. We didn't know how much the situation was going to escalate.
So sad because there are still Americans being held hostage by Hamas in Gaza!
Jews "come out" now, because now they need to stay quietly in the closet... what a disgrace for America.
This happened because Israel is killing unarmed Palestinians who are starving from having aid prevented by Israeli settlers blocking their food from coming in. There is a genocide being committed by the people Seinfeld is supporting. There’s why this happened.
Awesome to hear the students silence those giant losers!

The media focused so much on the students who walked out. It’s clear from seeing the sea of graduates that they overwhelmingly enjoyed Seinfeld’s delightful and uplifting speech. I wish all the graduates a great future.

I watched this because I love Jerry Seinfeld, but have now sent it to all of my friends and to my children because it's also profound, and kind of moving. Thank you, Jerry, for sharing your humor and wisdom, especially in the face of ridiculous behavior from a few well-intentioned but misguided people. Their loss for missing it. This made my day.
So let me get this straight. You're for GENOCIDE? You're okay with over 40,000 dead innocent men, women and children? WTF!
I don’t agree, the message is positive but extremely tone deaf.
I wonder how he would feel if someone gave the same message, while the Holocaust was going on.
Work hard, love things, and keep your humor. Btw be proud of your privilege, while there is a genocide going on
Agree with everything you said other than well-intentioned. These protestors are terrorist sympathizers, they are the very opposite of well-intentioned.

I am proud that the commencement speaker for Duke University is a graduate of my alma mater, Queens college of new york!

Nice job Jerry!
I am a Duke graduate and was once sitting and listening to the editor of the Atlanta Constitution, ( now the Atlanta Constitution-Journal),Ralph McGill. I don’t remember his speech, which must have been edifying since he was a very loud voice in the Civil Rights era, but I know I would have remembered Jerry Seinfeld’s speech if he had spoken to us Duke grads then(1959). Kudos to him for giving what I consider the best graduation speech I ever heard, having been rudely insulted by a small portion of the graduates( they should not have the right to graduate). I loved his show, and his brand of humor which tells it like it is and I’m proud of being a Duke graduate because it chose Jerry Seinfeld to receive an honorary degree and to give such an outstanding speech.😊
87 years old? Congrats on getting this far!
Thanks
