Early 2000s was when these types of shows peaked, so you witnessed the prime of CN. Although I do like a lot of shows that came out later.

My mom use to work at a hotel cleaning rooms. She would sometimes bring me to work as a child. I was probably 4 or 5 at the time and all I can remember was sitting on the bed watching tv as she cleaned and vacuumed the rooms. I remember seeing this on tv! I have faint memories but I remember a giant monster suit attacking a city and the power puff girls saving the day. I finally found this video!!! I was so young probably 4 or 5 and I hadn’t started elementary school!! WOW!!! 😱

Back then yes, they did a lot more to advertise for shows and made every show feel like it mattered but we can appreciate the old while still appreciating the new. When people talk about the 90s and early 2000s being the golden age of animated kid’s television, this is why. It’s not just nostalgia, there was a concerted creative effort on these networks that just made everything “extra” . Something just not seen on the networks nowadays.
True and the Cartoon Network shows from the late 90s and early 2000s were much more adult too compared to kids cartoons of the 2010s and onwards.

I was a four or maybe five year-old boy who watched powerpuff girls hidden, because my friends in school would bully me if they knew I saw a "cartoon made for girls" just like this. A brazilian boy living in a big city and who only learnt english later in life. The aforementioned twerking and a writer stand-in romancing one of the girls, Ms Bellum removed for not sending the right signal (but preschoolers shaking their booties does), the teacher had her breasts removed, a transgender episode that transgender people said was condescending, a 4th sister who the Professor just exiled, and an utter lack of actual superheroing. The reboot was understandably not well received.

CNs recent shows like Steven Universe and Adventure Time and Infinity Train are great and all, but CN is still facing a grim future especially with the lack of content like this and the recent announcement that they want to aim to more preschool and girl demographics too (which is confusing because cartoons shouldnt even be gendered, anyone can enjoy any cartoon)
