She was posthumously given the title Eternal Stationmaster and elevated to spirit goddess status, Tama Daimyojin, by a nearby shinto cat shrine, for anyone who didnt know.
Lao Aidan - Thank you for sharing that story! Cats love positive attention, so Tama was probably very happy that everyone paid attention to him - and gave him yummy food. The shrine was a beautiful way to remember how everyone loved Tama!
Tama was followed by Nitama(Second Tama) as Stationmaster, and the third, Suntamatama(Third Tama) went to Okayama to train. The person who had been caring for Suntamatama said they couldn't give Suntamatama back, they loved Suntamatama too much.
I started to explain the above to my wife and she immediately chimed in and said, "They kept her right?" It's a typical thing that happens. We rescued a Tortoise Shell on one of our urban hikes with the intent of turning for adoption...we kept her. Several years ago we rescued two that were brothers and had them at our Vet for adoption...wife went to visit and said, "They need a good home"...we adopted them. Last year I made eye contact with a "feral" Tuxedo kitten and he was an easy trap...was getting him ready for adoption and we really got attached to Oreo...he reminded us of our first Tuxedo so we kept him along with same name. These "adoptions" occur for a reason.
This story has inspired me to do what the big ranchers of the old west did by appointing gun fighters as regulators to protect their land. I now have appointed 3 feral cats I've made friends with, as regulators of my front and back yard. They have single handedly reduced the outlaw rat problem at my house. They even have their own cat shelters they can operate out of.
@@noninoni9962 2 of my deputy regulators seem to have that taken care of already. I can tell by the clipped ears. Some organization took care of that before they found thier way to my house. After they began to totally trust me, they are some of the most loyal and affectionate cats I've ever had the pleasure to be arround. The young male tabby I call, Billy the Kid, will be fixed under my dime. He's already a good mouser and he even holds his own against the aggressive tom cats that try to invade my property. TNR cats are awesome and even keep me company when I play my blues guitar in my tomato garden. I like to call them my little blues cats...lol!😺
What a sacred precious cottony love! Cats make everything better! If I’d been there n saw the cotton is kiss the sweet little darling heavenly gem. The outfit is too cute! Sooo glad they got another cat in there!
How unique. I love to see how cats are employed to work at the railway stations. This unusual practice is very cool to see. Giving a salary makes huge sense since Tama had a career at the railway station which was being a station master. Nice to have animals get jobs like people.
so cute kittens, their fur is beautiful, i can watch all day 👍🥰💖 There are lots of stray cats in the city I live in, I feed and love stray cats every day. I want a world where cats can live happily. Don't let the cats get hungry I'll spread this all over the world
This story resonates very well in our household. I am planning a routine trips the Japan in May 2023 and I have this on my "bucket list" for initial visit. We had our own calico "Coco" and Nitama reminds us of her. Calico's are quite unique.
Tama was elevated to a spirit Goode's by the Shintoism as Tama daimyojin and after 5 months from this event the mangaka of noragami a manga dedicated to Shintoism gods made her a member of the God's and you can see her as Goode's in episode 58 of the manga. What an amazing story
Proof that stray cats and dogs shouldn't be punished by getting rid of them. Nurture them well, and they would bring a bit if joy for everyone. Currently at my work site, there are 4-6 stray cats. They are a breathe of relief from our hectic office work.
Tama the Train Cat was nanny cat before she was adopted by the train master ?!❤ - I keep it short she have loving soul resonated with local & tourists a like…
Tama the Station Mistress. She was so beautiful condolences to her owners and the station crew. Mandy lived until she was 19 and Nadia was 17 when she passed away. Connie is our rescue cat and she is very affectionate.
Bob died. And his owner is trying to raise money on just giving so he can have a statue built for him. He was a very special cat that saved that man's life!
We have an official station cat at Huddersfield train station. It was a stray that used to hang around but it is now there all the time. Being looked after and spoilt for people waiting for their (probably delayed) trains 🙀
There's a cat called Taga in France, spending her days in a train station next to Paris. She's been doing so for a few years and is very beloved: ruclips.net/video/L0CUraghKCo/видео.htmlsi=FpaIoN2tIJFvrNtC

@@noninoni9962 OK!!!CALM DOWN I'M NOT A MURDERER or something i've done this because there domestic wild giant cats panting around my yard and if i let them free during night those cats would slughter them and they're still kitties ALSO they used to sleep in that locked box comfortably during the night without pooping inside it so chill out i'm neither cruel nor murderer. thanks for helping thou🤨
Cats seems Not happy at all, why would he be, it's CAT, heavy cap, leash, sitting at one place , only food is not what one need. Why you are not saving other cats, after all profits in the name of Tama. Cat died of heart failure. Now. They have capture another cat in the name of giving food they will be like in prison. I Hate that

@@thetooginator153 Tama was a “her”, all “calico cats” are female. Cheers.
Love that they made her a goddess.
Tama received public funeral with visits from government, thousands of people paid their respect, Tama was deeply loved.

So that's what happened to the third, and why the post I saw said the next in line was *yon*tama (Tama the fourth)
I cried in the library when I heard Tama died. I hope that Tama and her future successors continue to make the station great!

Great story! Love it!
The Chesapeake and Ohio railroad, which became the Chessie system, had two cats named Chessie and Peake!
That's cool
Priceless!
Her spirit lives on in all of us.
A local shrine actually deified Tama. Her spirit dwells among the Gods!

Such a beautiful story.
Not sure if you've done a story on Balto, Hachiko or Bob the Street cat, but they would be good topics/animals to cover.
Bob died. And his owner is trying to raise money on just giving so he can have a statue built for him. He was a very special cat that saved that man's life!

When you get passed over for promotion in favor of a cat...
Yet another example of the world wide cat conspiracy to conquer the planet. I had a tuxedo cat for 16 years. She was always up to no good. Miss her.
