There is a difference between corporate employees and esports players. We cannot compare the two. Corporate employees work for the organisation and help in day to day functioning, so they are directly contributing to the smooth functioning and profitability of the business. While esports players do not contribute in the organisation's functioning but have a direct role in the organisation's success and profitability in terms of more brand deals, higher target audience, more fanbase and other things. Both work extremely hard but a little more flexibility is available to the eSport players in terms of rigid working schedules of the corporate. I am not saying players should not be rewarded by higher salary but salary inflation definitely needs to be kept under check and there should be an unspoken industry standard till a regulatory body or some law is laid down. As far as the hunger in a player is concerned, yes the hunger to be the number one dies with a very high salary but at the same time most of the esports contracts are performance based and time bound which ensures that players know if they do not perform the contract can be terminated which keeps the hunger alive. Just an opinion.
He’s making good money himself, so why can’t he see that others deserve it too? Esports players put in the work and bring in revenue just like athletes in other fields. It’s pretty hypocritical to deny them fair pay when he’s benefiting from the same system
