I actually just finished doing this the same way you did, and everything worked first try. I am definitely going this route to make Wiitars wired! Thanks for the pseudo tutorial, it helped a lot!
Just finished my first adapter with a pi pico and a GH5 wii guutar using this vid and Sanjay900's guide, even added the tilt switches and everything works perfectly. Thanks alot!
Thank you dude. I bought a raphnet some days ago, 25$ + 25$ shipment + 15$ custom fees, 75$, I litteraly bought my wii guitar completely new for 30$ I wouldve like to see your video a bit earlier
I kinda like playing clone hero But i love to tinker with plastic guitars even more! Fun fact: with a nunchuck breakout board, you can connect a gamecube controller to it as well, but for some reason the pins are upside down 🙃
might be a bit late but oh well. So I connected everything and it was working completely fine. I played a map on clone hero and then it just disconnected and now my computer wont even see the pi pico when i plug it in. Like if I plug it in with a usb cable it doesn't even recognise it anymore. I don't know whether its dead or what. Would you have any clues?
So does this mean the guitar input frequency is 1000hz or 1ms, or is this still just an adapter? Wii Les Paul’s are 450hz, so is this an arduino mod that makes the guitar 1000hz or is this just a 1000hz adapter to replace a raphnet?
@@AngelitoVIDS oh totally! Hell you could use like 16 if really wanted to. If its metal and vaguely wire shaped it'll work. I'm just saying what's easiest to work with :D
The headers were already pre soldered the other way up on my pi pico so i cannot do it the way you do it. Can i still do it? - (pi logo on my pico is opposite direction to which you have soldered the pins)
I'm planning on doing this with my wiitar as well, i'm still learning. Does tilt and whammy work? Sanjay's writeup mentions an accelerometer so im assuming you're just not using tilt or whammy? Sorry if this is a dumb question, still learning.
whammy works, and there's no tilt in wii guitars, as the wiimote's accelerometer was supposed to cover that front xd you can actually get a tilt switch to serve that function as well if you wish :D
Device just shown for a second and disappeared. Nothing happens now when I plug it in. What am I doing wrong? Maybe it's burned or something? Please help
Just followed this build everything works fine but I'm having issues with the tap only button's when pressing them it does very random things and not just a button press any idea?
I've decided to try this, but I have a few questions. What is the benefit of mounting it to a prototype board, and where did you get one? Also, just to clarify, you only soldered the pins that you were connecting to the adapter, right?
i bought a bunch of different sizes years ago on amazon. i believe they're 7x3cm. also yes, the only wires i soldered went from the pi pico to the wiimote connector.
Thanks for this video man, I tried this because of your video and it actually worked! Just a quick question is it just mine or you have to connect the microcontroller to the computer first before connecting the wii guitar, if the guitar is already connected the microcontroller wont detect (I'm using Pi Pico as well.)
Ah. Well it’s still really helpful considering you only have to solder a few things and it just works compared to having to solder everything and having a chance of it just not working.
Hi, I have some problem with the connection, my raspberry pi work but when it tries to connect with the software it can't detect the Wii guitar.. maybe its the guitar version can that be correct ? thanks for the respond 🙂

does the whammy and tilt sensor works too?
What gauge of wires are you using?
24 gauge but get something thinner like 28 or 30 especially if it's solid core.
Thank you very much.
I have a AWG22 wire here. Is it compatible?

does this ship to canada
raphnet dont even work on my 3rd party wiitar, had to use a diff adapter which doesnt allow my whammy to work

For me, it seems to not want to work until i disconnect both ends, and then it doesn't matter if i plug in the guitar or the USB first, it just works.
Wouldn’t doing this make it so that no hardwired guitars (besides wt) would still have the frets only poll at 500?
yeh it's still going to be limited by how fast the guitar itself can poll
Ah. Well it’s still really helpful considering you only have to solder a few things and it just works compared to having to solder everything and having a chance of it just not working.
I hate raphnet too, wiitar thing is my go-to
Can you try to make a guitar adapter PS2 to PS3/4/5? 😁
would you recommend trying this if i have 0 soldering experience and have no clue how all this works? lol
you know what? yes!
It is a whole 4 wires if you don't mount it to a prototype board, and you can just tape it together. go for it!

i got 4.95v so its not a tension problem when I connect to my pb it detect a xbox 360 controller so I dont really understand
Just wondering, any reason why you used this nunchuck thing from Amazon as opposed to the $3 one from Adafruit?
none other than fast shipping. can you link the adafruit one? i'd like to put it in the description.

Would this work for Wii Drums?
they're USB already, no?
@@PixelholicYT band hero drums, the ones that use the wiimote port
