i wish every episode had a historic segment.
i just loved this film and last season's audi/lancia film so much.
And Senna's tribute...
col. hapablap and Ford GT’s story from the seat 1 was also great
Agreed. The only 2 good segments of the shambles that is The Grand Tour.
All of the historic segments have been a national treasure
Completely agree!!!!! I too wouldn't mind a histroic segment from time to time in the upcoming episodes for season 4!!!!
It’s sad how Clark and senna didn’t really wanna race before the race but they had to. To legends gone but never forgotten. RIP
Mr. Lauda sensed that in japan, that if he raced he would die.
Lewis Hamilton,GOAT is a joke the GREATEST EVER is Jimmy Clark, !!!!
Immortals 🇦🇺
What a Man. Rest in peace, you won’t be forgotten.
Rest in pieces
Hammond, this Jim Clark piece is the pinnacle of motorsport film making. Thank you. He will always be missed.
Just like how he missed the apex and crashed 😂
The greatest
Reminds me of the senna tribute they did on “another motoring show”
I bet the official Grand Tour Channel wont answer you!
On "another universe" as Hammond said last series.. 😁
Some say, they called it TopGear
Joel Mammachen all we know is.... They're called not so top gear....now
What was that? Thought you said something
For me it’s Jim Clark always...I’m not interested in your Senna’s or Schumacher or Fangios, with the deepest and greatest respect to those incredible racing drivers but I will always pick Jim Clark as the greatest racing driver of all time...not just for his supernatural ability behind the wheel of any race car, his adaptability to any set up in a race car or his incredible accuracy and smoothness that put him ahead of any other driver in history, it was the content of his character as a man, his humbleness all put together in one incredible package that is the legend Jim Clark, never to be forgotten and still gaining F1 fans as the generations pass
Very well put.
Nothing to add. Clark was by lightyears the BEST ever - see my comment above.
"deepest and greatest respect to those" He said after disrespecting lmao
GOAT is such an overused title. The fact that there was a driver means there will be a driver that is at least as good if not better. There is not a single sport in the world where that is different.
Considering that only suicidal individuals drove races back in those days clearly clouds the judgement of many “fans” and somehow ending up conceding to a tree or a wall elevates the status beyond reason.
Was he the best driver in his days? Clearly. The Greatest of all times? No. Nobody is.
@@LSmallCatL utter drivel…
Don't apologise for your emotions sir, I understand. RIP Jim Clark.
i hope we get more segments like this, it was very well done
We won't. Grand Tour is over apart from the specials.
The bit where he drove the car holding the stick and steering with one hand and won, also where he switched of the engine during the corners. It goes to show that if you love something and have a passion for it you don’t complain. As cheesy as it will sound, but these two bit did teach me to stop being a snowflake when my wifi goes out for 5 min, I hope i stay true to my work like him and even get fraction of the mentality he had.
Also the 63 races per year, that day and age the endurance shown by him was just utter madness.
I hope the story showed in Grand tour doesn’t go in vain and truly inspires people even the slightest bit. :)
Thanks to the producers, writers for showing this.
We get nothing for grumbling... Venting is one thing but grumbling is useless
This whole part about Jim Clark was ...... I can't even find the words. Beautiful. Moving. So very well put together. I just sat here for a few minutes saying wow after watching it. Bravo gentlemen. Bravo.
This has to be my favourite episode to date. I went from laughing with Jeremy, to crying my eyes out in the end with Hammond.
I’ll say it...Jim Clark is the greatest of all time! If I could pick any driver from any era to race in my team, I’d pick Jim Clark 1st every time. The man was a driving genius to a level that’s not been matched since
Absolutely love these historical kinds of segments on the show. Love the 1983 Lancia & Audi segment as well.
Very sad story! We must remember that back in those days car racing was associated with a huge risk to life and limb! Now we have to thank the engineers who care about the safety of modern cars. This story is written in blood.
Was a really good episode
What episode is this?
The most natural and talented man who could race any car in any race. RIP Jim, you were the man to beat and you beat them all.
Jim Clark revolucionó el mundo del automovilismo, su humildad escuchando a su equipo era tan grande como su diestria... Excelente reportaje.
Gracias The Grand Tour.
This piece was honestly the best thing The Grand Tour has ever produced, it was absolutely brilliant.
Shed a tear during this episode
segment is up there with the le mans and the lotus one, hoping for more stuff like this soon
I'm interested...
@@thegrandtour Senna?
@@thegrandtour tell me there's a season 4 😭
This is the lotus one. You mean the lancia one.
Utterly phenomenal thank you Richard!
He was excellent in all types of vehicles. In Cortinas the style was amazing.
I wish I knew who the man is at 0:21 - obviously part of Clark's pit team - but he is truly the one who brings the first-person understanding and the pathos to this story. A big tip of the hat to him as well to Jim Clark's memory. Thanks to you, too, Hammond, for giving us the straight deal.
That guy is David Sims. Known as Dave beaky Sims, back then team lotus only had 4 people representing them. Two drivers and each driver had a mechanic. Driver Graham Hill had mecahnic Mike Gregory and Jim Clark had Dave sims. They were quite close as they worked together the whole time clark drove for lotus. In interviews David Sims always says that throughout his career remembering the events of Jim's death on April 7th 1968 still makes him tearful to this day.
This segment about Jim is very touching
This is why the Grand Tour is so amazing, it honors those who inspired so many other people to be the best person they could be, and enjoy the thrill of going 100 mph+
Dear Grand Tour, the Jim Clark piece you did was the best you’ve done so far. It really made my eyes water. What a legend he was. In my opinion, in Colin Chapman’s opinion, in Ayrton Senna’s opinion and many others.. the greatest driver ever lived... I salute you Jim 👏🏻🥇🏆✌🏻 RIP
This fateful day made Jim Clark an absolute legend. I wasnt even born and feel this great loss.
Thank you for doing this segment. It is great to see motoring and racing legends highlighted. I must admit I feel rather ashamed that I never knew much about Jim Clark or his career short of that he won at Indy once. But alas we are bombarded with American racing greats (I'm in Canada) and see or here very little about the greats from across the pond. I hope these segments become a be regular feature on the The Grand Tour. Maybe 3 per series with each of you hosting one of them.
I love when they do historical segments like toose they did on t.g. on senna, lancia, the rivalry in rally between lancia and Audi. I love these sort of short documentaries
The fellow in the video has no need to apologise for getting upset, tragic
Clark, Miles, Senna... The great ones always go to soon. To the kings of speed and the legends power... RIP
Thank you The Grand Tour for educating me on the brief life of a legend in the racing world.
He was and still is #1, Just like to say well done to Richard Hammond, Absolutely fantastic work.
The full version on the show was my favorite automotive history story I have ever seen. Well done GT.
Best segment in The Grand Tour so far, absolutely beautiful. Looking forward to more historic pieces.
Racing God JIM CLARK - Unmatched Maestro. By far the Greatest Driver Ever - No doubt. He is and was "The Best of the Best" (Fangio, Senna, Prost, Stewart and countless others about Clark). No other driver in history until today was so superior as Clark - No other driver as so much "Grand Slam" - Pole/Win/Fastest Lap/Leading every lap of the race - like him. And all that from just 72 starts... !
This man is the Olymp of driving - the Michelangelo of racing - a dynamic art at the highest level. So smooth, so precise, so fast....simply out of this world. One, who won in Spa by 5 minutes (!) in monsoon rain with only one hand at the wheel (!) because of gearbox trouble...One, who takes back a complete lap (!) in Monza and back into the lead... One, who took pole on the original 22,8 km Nürburgring track by 9 (!) seconds and more....One who won Indy by 2 whole (!) laps...
In 1965 he had the most succesful year of a driver in the history of the sport: He won the F1 World Championship, the Tasman Series with F1 cars, the Indy 500, the British and French F2 Championship, the British Touring car Championship, totally over 50 (!) victories in one season !!!! For eternity and by lightyears unmatched in the sport. That`s just some examples of his mesmeric unique genius...
All of these historical segments have been great.
This is the sort of thing I always enjoyed the most from Jezza/Hammond/May & Wilman&Chaps crew of TG/Grand Tour. They do all sorts of things brilliantly, but these beautifully written tributes - whether it's historical, or sometimes a "love letter to a car" - always touched me the most. The Senna, Lancia, Saab tributes, this Jim Clark one, along with poetic reviews like one of Alfa Disco Volante - they're pure gold. They can joke about gentleman's sausages and do the three stooges stuff, and have me in stitches, but it always struck me in contrast how impactful it becomes in moments like this. You can see a lot of youtube channels / car media throughout the years have borrowed / adopted their style in one way or another, be it editing, narration, writing... And in comments, you'd see, "wow, this is just like TG/Grand Tour", which just shows how it's a praise. I wish in whatever format Grand Tour carries on for following seasons, they can find a spot for this sort of stuff.
Absolutely one of the best section of all 3 seasons. Good job
This was my favorite part of the episode. Absolutely beautifully done.
Can you guys imagine the parallel universe where Clark went to Brands Hatch instead?
He might still be alive today...
And peacefully tending sheep in Scotland as a gentleman farmer .
Who is that heartless creature....who disliked the video....man do you even know to drive a Kia...???
The people who disliked this are probably watching Country File clips on RUclips...
Hey, I drive a KIA but I liked the video 😢

@@vladblackkill kia are stupid car....have you seen its ads....😲😲
@@vladblackkill I know, it's just a quote from 'another car show'
The way how this is put together.... masterpiece
One of the best pieces you have ever done.
What a legend. I'm Scottish as well he's a big inspiration for me
I watched episode. Great, just great touching story about Jim Clark, best man ever siting behind the wheel!
This episode is my favourite, a great tribute to such a talented man
More segments like this please. It was beautiful
What an amazing documentary. This was a great segment in the last Grand Tour episode!
Who's cutting the onions.
That and the Le mans Video are some of the best Films you did. Please do more or even a spinoff history series.
I glad others get to learn about this amazing man, he is revered in the Scottish Borders.
Very evocative piece. I'm reminded of a line from the movie The Last Samurai - "Life in every breath"...until there isn't. RIP
This was such an amazing segment, I hope you guys continue to do this in the future!
Until I watched the film, I had no idea who he was. After watching I became so emotional over a man I never even knew. Great job guys. I'm gonna go cry now
You guys absolutely killed it this week! It was so damn amazing!
My birthday is 7th April. I have been a die hard F1 fan for almost 30 years, I will always think of Jim Clark on my birthday. Absolute legend. RIP
Clark's mechanic is a great man. Really great story telling.
One of the best episodes the trio has ever done
Please please please make more of these types of videos. Last year we had the one about Lancia and it was fantastic!!
This film section was brilliant. More like that please!
When someone asks about a person they know after a horrifying crash only to get a 'no' as the answer... it's just disheartening and painful to carry on knowing they're gone from this world. :'(
One of the best films ever made by you guys.
Why would anyone give a thumbs down to this episode. Finally the Grand Tour puts something interesting into an episode instead of 3 guys dicking around to a script. Well done Richard.
The Grand Tour has been a fun show, not fully the show That Other Show was, but good. This special bit though, about the history of Jim Clark, was beautiful. Hammond did an incredible job presenting the history of the best driver, ever.
This has to be my favourite episode to date
Hands down the best feature of the two and the half seasons we've seen so far on The Grand Tour. And by some margin.
Jim Clark was the best.
P.S. Glad to see Richard Hammond has found work as a Leprechaun.
Jim Clark was a legend.. Brought to life by the legends of the Grand Tour..
This is the best episode of this season and in previews seasons...
Done fife proud, always nice to hear people from our small area having an impact
If you haven't seen the full episode of this tribute, it is a must watch. It's worth starting the free trail just to see it.
Thank you for introducing me to a legend!
Next season needs to have segments like this and car reviews. Just being road trips would make it like that soulless American Top Gear on the History channel.
A true legend💓
I was wishing before the start of this episode that you would do something like the WRC( from the history books). Woola here it is. Respect for the legend. This episode had great consumer advice, lessong from past, women empowerment and the fun. My favorite episode so far.
Absolutely fantastic episode
Such an amazing piece on this episode! Truly remarkable, literally brought tears to my eyes, watching a cart show for damn sakes!!!!
Love the grand tour! Don't forget to subscribe!!
This was very well done in memory of Mr Clark very cool 😊
Such a truly magnificent person!! We always lose the greats just a tad bit too soon!! May our prayers go to the family of today from legendary driver and Scottish racing "God" Jim Clark!!!!!
Jim Clark. Winner of the biggest race there ever was and still is. The Indianapolis 500
And you had the guts to end the episode in my home country with me in tears...
I'm an F1 fanatic, and even though Jim Clark was before my time, he is my favourite all-time F1 driver. What he achieved in such a short space of time was unbelievable, I'm sure that had he not been taken from us in 1968, he would have equalled if not gone past the great Fangio's record of 5 F1 titles at the time
F1 champ 63" 65"
Indianapolis 500 winner 65"
Considering that F1 cars of that era where death traps, a remarkable driver!!!
51 years today rest in peace legend
"Fatefully"
That is such a great word.
Love you clark and respect to tgt for helping the world rember the true racing champion that was lost far too early
I’m amazed a movie about Jim Clark has never been made…there really ought to be!,
For me the best driver ever until today....no other driver had the feeling how to handle a racing car like he had...for me the earth stopped turning that day in April 1968....He was a gentle man and a gentleman
Tragic. Taken too soon. Great segment, would love to see more like it.
This is what The Grand Tour was exceptional at doing
It's always tragic whenever the motorsport world loses a legendary driver...
Just beautifuly told story about one of The Greatest!❤😭
RIP. This was a great segment.
My dad was at that 1968 race in Hockenheim and remembers hearing over the loud speakers "Jim Clark ist tot."
The best in the world there isnt a driver of this man caliber and i dont think well see a man who is on this legend level today we have computers in cars now back then it was him and the car at 170 mph
This Episode will go down as one of their best of all.
He was so amazing and talented..
Please do more segments like this and the Lancia/Audi rally story Clarkson covered. They are both superb.
What a beautiful scene was this😍
