2:14 To add to your point, and to this clip you've added: Baby monkeys *_do not_* spend all of their time *_screaming_* bloody murder, like this poor fellow here. Macaques are normally not very noisy unless they're in a fight with each other or are in distress.
These Pet Monkey channels give us such a distorted view, that I've seen well-meaning people make comments on videos from animal rescue groups in India, comments accusing them of "cutting their vocal chords" and/or drugging the macaques in these groups' care. The reality is, that India reveres monkeys, due to Hinduism, and that these macaques are actually calm, not in distress, because they're being cared for.

3:32 Another enhancement of your point here: Due to habitat loss, macaques have become problem-wildlife in India. And the reality of human-monkey interaction is *_not good:_* people are having to abandon their villages, which just shows how *_completely ill-suited monkeys are as pets._*

    • @Channel-jr7fw

Forest cover in India is actually growing. It is not habitat loss causing monkey human interaction in India. It is greedy macaques who get used to handouts of food from humans and feeding on easily available food waste, thereby incentivising themselves to migrate closer to human settlements.

Thank you for helping to bring the unknowns to peoples eyes regarding these channels. IMO Monkeys in the wild offer much to love but less to learn about ourselves. People cannot often benefit from knowing nature but they can benefit from knowing themselves better. What is done should be stopped if it is wrong but what is done is done and should be learned from. I think people SHOULD see monkey channels before they get removed (as they should indeed be removed). I believe the inherent cruelty of what they are seeing will resonate with them in some sense and they could make connections between their behaviors and those captivity monkeys. Abused Humans can learn volumes from watching these Monkeys in a suffering not too far from removed from their own. After all , that is truly all these mean channel owners are doing. Revisiting the pains of their past on the creatures and people of the present.
This is a human behavior and human behavior is as wild as monkeys. Simply because we don clothes and hold forks does NOT MAKE US HUMAN, you have said this yourself Monkey Mercy, but in terms of monkeys holding forks and wearing clothes not being human just because they do so.. Being human is something learned. Being Human is taken for granted in our own sufferings and we forget that we must build humanity in others.
The monkeys can remind of us our humanity as we peer into them so intently looking to see their humanity. We can improve together.
