Imagine having a group of 15 people, training with them, eating with them, sleeping with them and then losing them over night. And it isn't even the strongest ones that survive... Sometimes your great great grand dad was a product of an elf and a human and your blood is not resilient enough to handle the mutagens and you end up dying. The most promising of the bunch. The one everyone looked up to etc. It's what happens to the rest that grows the survivors dead inside. And I'm not just talking during the trials. Great you've survived! Awesome job! And then two days later you find your best friend dead in a ditch because his liver gave out and his body could not adapt fast enough to the mutagens... Look it ain't all dark grey either. They are dangerous with a sword but they truly shine when the blade is actually a jaw full of blades. The cats took up a caravan. You know why? Cause cats love to party. And partying friends are best friends. Losing those sets you on a revenge path. Be it monsters or kings. Vipers carry around knives? HAH! I've seen a Viper with a mace, just as fast and sneaky. No poison, just a loud thud... Followed by the inevetable snort of fistec. Seen a witcher that goes berserk if he drank a potion because his phisiology got screwed over on the table. And he's a grand master! Gotta give Griffins one thing... Never saw such focus to learn anywhere else... But I'll be damned if it doesn't extend to the bottom of a bottle. And Bears? That's a rowdy bunch I'll tell you that much. Seen a Bear school witcher tear appart a ghoul limb from limb with his hands. And he was playing "likes me, likes me not" Actually you know why you never see more than one bear in the same place? It's cause they meet the fuck away from everyone. Two bears are enough to punch a fiend to death so they ain't worried. They just gather around a campfire in the middle of nowhere and drink their asses off while singing loudly before continuing on next morning. And let me tell you... they can carry a lot of weight. The Bears are a family... each and every one of them would run a continent to help the other if they knew the other needed help.
Great joke. But using opportunity I need explain that Witcher's usually carry and use only the steel sword for monsters. Not only the two legged kind. Silver sword is used only occasionally against cursed specters like vampires, werewolf's and other abominations born from dark magic (spikes on they lather jackets are also silver, to defend them from those superficially). It is more akin in design to Carolingian broad sword and mostly useless in regular combat, as silver is extremely soft. So blade of it is short, thick and dull. Which is why it for the most time it is strapped to the horse. Still the legend is nitty!
It always makes me chuckle how similar people in the Witcher universe are to the real world. People detest the fact that witchers do vital work, but not for free. But it’s like the dude in the Cookbag Bog said: “why, even an ox won’t plow a field for free”.
Years later when Ciri and other Witchers take on more apprentices, they'll view Mutagen Witchers of the past as Gods. New Witchers would just be specially trained warriors without the superhuman abilities
also the school of the crane which uses a special suit for water, with rope ( like medieval diving gear) which they only fight sea and air creatures, and are along the eastern coast of the continent !! hehe

Just because a work of fiction has something has say, magic, doesn't make it immediately unrealistic as a fantasy story-- at the end of the day, that's still what it is. I'm just referring to the way that the universe harnesses those more fantastical elements and uses them to craft a believable world grounded in its own cultures, intrigue, and politics which is in many ways still somewhat similar to our own.
@@SultanOfAwesomeness there's a difference between throwing a magic spell and travelling through time and space, just as there is a difference between "realistic" and "believable"
Big Boy Dan Cannon If the inter-dimensional hopping is a direct result of the use of magic then no, l don’t see much of a difference between casting a spell and jumping through space, especially if it’s made to seem believable. Of course there’s a difference between both realism and believability but in many cases, the two go hand-in-hand. Sometimes making something appear more realistic and lived in also makes it more believable, and a lot of the stuff in the Witcher is just that. Magic is something of an outlier in the sense that it depends more on seeming believable, but hey it is fantasy. At the end of the day none of it is ‘realistic’ in the sense that it would happen in the real world because a fantasy world doesn’t exist. But in the sense that characters are portrayed in shades of gray or as flawed and imperfect; in the sense that politics and kingdoms function as believable entities-contributes to a larger feeling of having something tangible, grounded and representative of what a world would look like under different conditions.
Yami Nero A cross between the school of the Wolf and the school of the Viper would be beautiful. Would make for an awesome marriage between the world of assassins and best of Witcher schools.
Only three schools are canon from the books tho right? Plus, if I'm not mistaken, in the books they're never referred to as school. They're only medallions indicating the style of fighting the Witcher learned in Kaer Morhen.

And he was playing "likes me, likes me not"
Actually you know why you never see more than one bear in the same place? It's cause they meet the fuck away from everyone. Two bears are enough to punch a fiend to death so they ain't worried.
They just gather around a campfire in the middle of nowhere and drink their asses off while singing loudly before continuing on next morning. And let me tell you... they can carry a lot of weight.
The Bears are a family... each and every one of them would run a continent to help the other if they knew the other needed help.

Steel for Humans, Silver for Monsters, Gold for the Witcher
Toss a coin to your Witcher!
And bananas for tigers :D
@@silverrain530 oh valley of plenty oh ohoh
@@TheRezro If you ask Zoltan Chivay about your Silver Sword in the first game he tells you that it’s essentially just a steel sword coated in silver.

Witchers: Create supersoldier killing machines
Also witchers: get killed by a mob of pissed peasants (twice)
That last line nailed it for me!
content that the title reflects begins at 6:20
The Code is more of a Guide-line.
Arr that be true!

Hello there pirates fandom :)
But yesssss
The Conjuction of the Spheres brought magic and monsters into the Continent...
But hey, it also brought Templin. So it ain't too bad.
Silver for monsters, steel for men, gold for the witcher.

It always makes me chuckle how similar people in the Witcher universe are to the real world. People detest the fact that witchers do vital work, but not for free. But it’s like the dude in the Cookbag Bog said: “why, even an ox won’t plow a field for free”.
10/10 Uniform design for the Templin Institute
You forgot School of the Snail on that list
Years later when Ciri and other Witchers take on more apprentices, they'll view Mutagen Witchers of the past as Gods. New Witchers would just be specially trained warriors without the superhuman abilities
So glad you two are back!
6:27 -> skips to the content you came here for
I really want to know what survives in the dessert. The Manticore School would be the most fierce imho
I'm a simple man, I see a new video by The Templin Institute, I click.
Can't wait for the series. Hope they do all this great lore justice
also the school of the crane which uses a special suit for water, with rope ( like medieval diving gear) which they only fight sea and air creatures, and are along the eastern coast of the continent !! hehe
Do a video on the factions from Endless legend or Endless space 1 or endless space 2 or Dungeons of the Endless. Basically please do a video on any faction from the Endless franchise.
One of the best overviews i have watched
One of the best videos yet
i feel so bad for the witchers, they get so much shit which they do not deserve
That's the point though.
I'd love to see you guys cover some Divinity lore!
Beautifully put
BRRRROOOOOO!!!!!11!!! this has the best fucking intro of all youtube
Toss a like to your Witcher, thumbs up o’plenty
11:31 the curse of a hero in a nutshell
Please do an overview of the one year war. It would be great to see it.
How could would it be for CDProjekt Red to make a game were you have to rebuild one of the schools with the same attention to detail as the actual series.
Of course it would probably be a non-cannon game but still be amazing.
Make a video on fallout 3
Capital Wasteland: For any and all
Topics: Vault Life, Megaton, Rivet City, Eastern Brotherhood, Enclave Remnants, Underworld, Project Purity.
Scruples, you say? I think I've got an ointment for that
Well, as most monsters walk on two legs in the broad daylight...yeah. LOL
I never knew there was so much lore for The Witcher universe.
kairon156 it’s actually very well done and thought out. A great example of anyone looking to write more grounded and a more realistic fantasy story.
@@SultanOfAwesomeness it includes multidimensional portal hopping - a grounded, realistic setting epitomised
If you were in this universe, which Witcher School would you train in? Personally, I'd be learning from the School of the Wolf.
Yami Nero griffin or bear
Yami Nero A cross between the school of the Wolf and the school of the Viper would be beautiful.
Would make for an awesome marriage between the world of assassins and best of Witcher schools.
Only three schools are canon from the books tho right? Plus, if I'm not mistaken, in the books they're never referred to as school. They're only medallions indicating the style of fighting the Witcher learned in Kaer Morhen.
Ah yes. I loved this one.
The Templin Institute does: The SCP Foundation
I imagine the SCP foundation classifying the Institute as an cross dimensional SCP
[REDACTED]
Lus ́ka my head cannon is that the templin institute is the education branch of the foundation
This was awesome and so informative!!!!!
I was expecting a great story telling voice
I was not disappointed
As bad as the witcher 1's combat was the ending was one of the most badass moments in gaming history. Striking down a human with a silver sword and calling him a monster
You guys should do a video on Camp Half-Blood or Brooklyn House!
Watching this video with my cat named Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon in my lap
@T R yikes indeed
2:10 That a giant chicken?? 0_o
I think that may be a Griffin of some sort
Interesting I wonder if they’ll talk about Elric of Melnibone at some point... oh wait...
Have they done so already? :o
I would love it!
11:40 sometimes the line between man and monster becomes blurred.
Great job! You guys should do Malazan Book of the Fallen!

My favorite irony is thinking that people have isolated and killed Witchers, then regret it when monsters start popping back up.
