Sorry Brian I had something similar happen to me 22 yrs ago. The restaurant owner came out and by my request. He was not happy to come out but when he saw my one yrs old Ford F350 Lariat. He immediately asked the manager that made the order to vandalize my truck come out then pay for it to be steam cleaned. She was given that opportunity or she was going to be arrested for the vandalism. Come to find out later she was terminated for insubordination by the owners wife. I still to this day when I am in the area visit with the owners. They are really good people and now excellent friends.
It's probably criminal trespass. They probably scratched the $60k truck ,too. Should have filed a police report. Courts need documentation. Be sure to start your own documentation soon. Write everything.. down, dates, times, conversations, etc. Erratic people tend to stay erratic. Guess who she will punish if her manager disciplines her. It will be your fault, you are the enemy. Trust me on this. If it blows over, throw out your paperwork. No big deal.
Unhook the trailer and redump the trash on the back door of the restaurant 🤣🤣🤣🤣 glad you handled it professionally though but that would’ve been hilarious.
First of all , YOU SET A GREAT EXAMPLE of how to handle a bad situation ( that you were by no means ) remotely involved in and turned it into a teachable lesson for those who may find themselves in a similar situation . I have been in the those very same type of predicaments before and no doubt I will go through them again , but what keeps me somewhat cool and levelheaded is what I learned a long time ago , Be Quick To Listen and Slow To Anger . Again , Great Example and business ethics !!! Thanks , B&A .
Such a professional response that is so hard to do. Great example of the advise in Romans 12:17: “Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone”. Love the videos and this example of class.
C & L Small Engine Repair Lawncare Seems like she should not be a manager she’s a whack job I would’ve made her personally her self clean out the back of the truck and looks like you guys don’t have any shirts on to identify yourself all my employees wear shirts
Man it is soo refreshing to watch a video about staying chill despite being livid and extending grace....thanks for the reminder Brian! Love how you reflect honestly on situations and look for lessons learned!! Keep up the great work!
good advice. it is difficult to remain calm in these types of situations but someone has to rise above emotion. a lesson we cannot hear too often. thanks Brian
Duuuuuuude, good for you. I was getting amped just thinking about it. You handled that way better than I would have...Good lesson. Gotta stay levelheaded...BUT DUUUDE lol
Had a great season so far, no equipment issues, no customer issues. Until today. Was getting into the backyard of a fenced property and my back driving tire caught a bolt in the fence and tore my tire. Went flat immediately and fell off the rim. Had to leave it in the customers backyard, with their permission of course, until tomorrow morning, when we are coming back to replace the tire. Such a pain in the neck, as this property is on the other side of town from my dealer!
A lot of people can’t stand to see a landscaper be successful and are filled with hate and envy. Definitely did the right thing Brian. Hope all continues to go well! 👍
Completely understand you . I also had a terrible mo in August . But like you said that chapter is closed go to bed and move on and keep it positive . Always think before you speak or act . Really shows you have self control in a unfortunate altercation
Man your positive attitude is infectious! I have been cutting grass for like 30 years now and it can start to become sort of a mundane task. However, after watching your videos I feel like going out there and kicking some ass! Fists
I clean out the bed of my truck usually once a week from left over dirt, pine straw, limbs, etc. What’s funny is half of the trash that I end up cleaning out isn’t even mine. I find bottles, cans, cigarettes, etc. People these days, but in the end like you said just keep on moving forward and think positive. I joke to my wife that I should start a garbage collecting business.
Unbelievable! You handled it way better than I would have, actually better than most people would have. I hope this lady loses her job and learns a valuable lesson.
Last week a client of ours (one of our craziest) called screaming at me for giving her a quote that she had requested. It was "unfathomable" how expensive the job was. I quoted $400 for a fall clean up, when she claims the job is worth only $200 and that the $45 dump fee is not a real thing. She went on a 20+ minute rant while I just stayed on the line and tried my best to break down the pricing. She doesn't like that we make more than her hourly because we are "just landscapers". Had to tell her, lady I show up with about 90k of equipment on a fall clean up. Run equipment that uses gas all day, and pay two employees to help out. Also the hourly doesnt just go to my pocket. It goes to overhead. How else would I be able to pay for my shop? Out of pocket? I think not.
Great video Brian, Love the little mowing footage! I have a relatable story it happened 3 weeks ago and was fixing a pothole at a restaurant and I had to park my dump truck in the back and I was in the front of the building filling a pothole, and when I was coming back to the truck in my skid steer see my truck and it is full of recycling which is not a big deal then I saw garbage and my dump box was caked in grease and they also threw eggs at my truck so my first instinct is to call the police and the restaurant owner and they came and they gave the person a ticket for vandalism, trespassing, and refusing to clean it up and they did it just because I was in there parking spot! To bad you can't upload pictures on RUclips!
You’re a really good dude. The Police would have been called FOR SURE!!! Charges would have been filed against that “Lady!” I understand where you’re coming from, higher ground and all. But I’m the SAME way, DON’T TOUCH MY TRUCK!!! Good vids, Bro!!
Another great video with business knowledge. I can't say I would have handled it that calmly. Lol. Great job taking care of that situation. It takes that kind of mentality to grow a successful and reputable business.
You handled that situation far better than 99% of people I know. Personally, I would have done just about what you did........however, the restuarant would be paying to have my truck detailed. Good job handling the situation with grace.
Brian, don't know how you held your feeling back but great advice! Everybody has an experience like that be it a neighbor, another drive on the road, or worse yet, a friend/family member. Chill 1st until you fully understand the situation. Thanks for sharing your story.
My blood was boiling, I'll be honest. But I knew it wasn't the 2 people that were cleaning it up that were responsible. If I ever see that manager, I can't say I won't have a stern look on my face when our eyes meet, ha!
That lady obviously is unhappy in her own life. Decided you were the target this particular day. You handled it as a professional. Anyone witnessing the event saw your reaction vs hers. You win! I've certainly had my share of incidents. Most recent being... I took some bad advice from a customer and parked somewhere I should not have. I was called on it by way of an angry property owner. I didn't rat out my customer, just took it and apologized repeatedly and moved my rig. Our brand is our reputation. We should always remember that when dealing with the public. Good video Brian👍
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! It's not even my truck and my blood is boiling! I'm a legit germaphobe, so I actually might have blown a gasket. Did the owner fire her? If not, I'd lose all respect for the owner. Can't have someone with no morals/values/integrity working for you. Hope he at least gave you a free meal and a car wash lol
She was an employee and acted independently . The owner of any establishment has the full right to FIRE her and then file LEGAL ACTION AGAINST HER for any damages incurred during her moment of ????????? . Why would a sane person do that ?? I know . I was in the restaurant and bar business for over 40 years . A thinking person THINKS and REASONS on any situation ( good or bad ) before they react . On the bright side of matters David , I did fill a friend of mines very SMALL car with French fry cardboard boxes . Let me elaborate ----- I MEAN IT WAS FULL OF BROKEN DOWN CARDBOARD BOXES THAT WERE FLATENED OUT AND SO TIGHT THAT IT RESEMBLED A BAIL OF HAY ! NOT funny to him ! Brian did the right thing !
You 100% handled that better than I would have. I would have called the cops along with sending a bill to the owner for cost of washing truck, my time to remove the trash/get it washed. I respect your cool/calm/forgiving attitude, however people who act like that manager need to be taught a lesson. Side note, I just turned down bidding on a property and politely told them good luck finding someone willing to work for them. They dont know that I used to work for a security company that they shafted for over 10 grand and are now being sued for. I told her I dont work with companies like that.
Well handled, Brian! I have tried to be calm about things like this but it is definitely hard. I’m a pretty laid back guy, so when people act like that toward me, it fires me up. But, gotta remember to stay calm.
Hello , to all those making those POSITIVE COMMENTS that are listed below . I promise not to boar any of you with my New start- up business story and I wont . I just want to say that it is an EXCEPTIONAL thing to see the unity between all you guys and the steadfastness to your business goals that you obviously demonstrate !!! Keep pressing on no matter what NUTTY PEOPLE YOU HAVE TO COPE WITH !! All of your comments ( good or Bad experiences ) I can either relate to or can LEARN from , which in turn , HELPS ME to keep level headed in a situation such as Brian was in . Being the NEW guy here , it is SO VERY CLEAR TO ME that you have a fantastic support system !!! Many Thanks , B&A .
That's a great story. We do several commercial properties and haven't run across anything like that. We have had some things similar with a residential customer. It's hard sometimes to hold back that initial reaction to fight back. Good job with that.
Brian! You need to check out the load handler! It turns your pickup into a dump truck, and best part is that it requires zero holes or fasteners to the truck! It has changed my life as a solo, and your viewers need to see it. Still looking at the numbers but I switched from storing cleanups to small qty (2yrds) material delivery, rented out my machines instead, did ZERO SHOVELING! Dude, the thing is under 200, and this fall im doing yard waste runs and unloading before the guys with the big fancy dump trailer (and with walls I fit a much as they do!)
I put a lot of work in my vehicles. Just got done doing an engine swap into a free Ranger (videos on my channel if ya want to scope em out. Warning my editing sucks). If someone did that to anything I own I'd flip. I'd bring in a white board and have the owner make her write 100 times "I'm sorry. I will not be a judgmental, vindictive dousche." in order to keep her job, as well as wash the truck bed with a sponge and bucket. Glad I've never had issues like that but I'm part time and small. Rebuilding again hopefully soon now that I've got wheels again. Thanks for the content man. I enjoy the mowing videos also if you're keeping tally.
That was an amazing moment that you handled great to make you, your business, and your reputation shine. Couldn’t imagine the frustration of seeing that but dang dude awesome awesome awesome handling of the situation
You are a better man than me brother! I'm not so sure I could've handled that as well as you did. I have always been a Chevy man, but dang that's a nice truck, I would've been pissed for them putting all that crap and grease and trash in the back of my truck. Good job Brian for being the better person.
That was handled in a truely professional manner Brian. I had picked up some trash at a customer's house and i put it in there trash barrel and there kid though i was dumping my trash in there barrel so he took it out and put it on my drivers seat when i went to get in i saw it. I asked the customer and at first they didn't know what i was talking about then the kid admitted it was him and they made him go and remove the trash from my truck and clean my seat plus they gave me a extra 100 dollars to get my truck detailed
I've learned a valuable lesson too. You have way more self control than me😂😂 great work though Brian way to keep your cool and staying professional! Keep it up man.
I love watching your videos... i actually just started my company, i have 8 customers at this point but this is my start up year so im not really hitting the ground running till next year. im loving all the videos and advice. just starting out i need some guidance so i really appreciate it. Also you handled that way better than i would have lol
Brian, good on you to be the professional in this matter. Bizarre situation for sure, glad you took the high road. Minimum wage will minimum wage, I guess.
Talk about a bad day! I can remember one day last year when I got harassed by a guy looking for cigarettes, a drunk wanting me to trim his shrubs, and chased by a hooker. And yes, this was all in one day at one apartment complex. Just another day in the life, I guess...
Hey Brian, Hope you Guys are doing Well, Yeah ... that’s a Little bit of a Crazy Story but Definitely keep your Cool and Handle it That way. You get so much more Accomplished that way than if you Blow Up and Drop Kick Someone. Especially if you know the Owner, Let Him Handle it so it does not ever Happen Again. Brian, I’m Talking from Experience after 25 Years on the Police Force. I Got so much more Accomplished Keeping a Calm Head in Situations than going all out with it. Now of Coarse sometimes you can’t Avoid an Altercation because it Drops on your Lap, So in that case you do have to Protect Yourself and Push Back. Glad it worked out at the End .... Thanks for Sharing Brother, Take Care and Be Safe Out Their 🇺🇸
Hey Brian this is a general comment. I’m new to your channel and am now a subscriber I absolutely love your channel. I’m watching all your videos your guidance and advice is really helpful and educational. Please keep up the great work and videos.
You did the right thing Brian! and to all the people in the comments saying "i would have do this to her to get back blah blah" if you own a business people are watching. People notice and spread news very fast, your reputation determines wether you're succesful or not. Any kind of retaliation would reflect very poorly on your business. Be the bigger person! life seems tests us all the time, you either are aware of it and come out on top or react emotionally charged and make it worse for yourself. keep on making awesome videos brotha!
You have a great channel Brian and I enjoy watching, but this is my take.I would never place lawn/shrub clippings in a customers trash receptacle. That’s why you have a dump box. Also, with the money you have spent on your fleet and signage, I would suggest getting a shirt/jacket with your company logo. With that being said, you did a great job being professional and keeping your cool.
That was handled in a very professional manner even tho you did get heated you didn't let if get the best of you and cause more issues, yea it was uncalled for and unprofessional as for the manager and to be a rep of that business you did show that you are a good person and that always wins in the end.
Been doing this since before 1992 and iv never heard anything like it Sounds like you handled it well Good Job MOWBRO👍 Lessons learned Carrie On CHOP/CHOP
Congratulations on staying calm cool and collected. I would have calmly drove home and switched out trailers and loaded up my skid steer bucket with a healthy load of fresh ripe chicken manure and drove back to the restaurant and politely unloaded the whole bucket on her vehicle with a sign reading today's special free chicken manure.
I would have called the Police. You handled it better than I. We all have bad days. Today was just like most out working/grinding. I decided to take a 10 min break in the truck. All of a sudden I get a phone call. It was my cousin who last week was in a coma with a breathing tube. We thought we would be attending a funeral. He sounds just like the guy I have always known. He is doing great. After that call I went right back to work thankful for everything! Life events matter. Everything else ah not so much.
I am the same way, don't touch my expensive truck with that crap if you hire me, but I have to laugh because seeing you deescalate yourself would be priceless.😁
I'm glade to see you handled things in a professional manner . Most wouldn't have but either way , two wrongs don't make a right . Had you let your frustrations take lead it wouldn't have stopped there . I'd probably stay clear of the food there for a long time though . With her being quick to anger I wouldn't count on her forgiving you soon lol .
That lady would have been in handcuffs with a couple of felony charges and sitting in jail if she did that here in Atlanta. We don't play that crap down here.
I got into an argument with a guy at one of my old workplaces, but when I found out what he was going thru in his personal life I actually felt bad...some people under a lot of stress and take it out in the wrong ways..its always best to try and be patient
Wow what control Brian! I am sure some would have told her to go screw herself. Great attitude and you being the better person here. Hope the owner of the restaurant will have something to say to you after speaking to her about her behavior. Perhaps an apology! Great video
That's Madness.... bro you should keep going in for free food now lol. You showed us how we should handle situations like that. I do like all the comments of drop trailer and dump pile on her car or door. Haha Great vids keep up the great work. Brian I know you see what I did there!
Love how you handled things. I would have losst it! I would have notified the authorities and let them fidure it out, just to protect me from doing something stupid and acting like a fool.
You handled it great. I definitely would've filled a police report. Hopefully the owner was cool and paid for the carwash and a couple free lunches. I had one former customer who I had given a demand for payment because they were 0ver 30 days past due. We were mowing the neighbor's house and I caught him putting roofing nails under my truck tires. I had to laugh. I couldn't believe he thought he would get away with it or was dumb enough to even try something like that. There's always someone who goes off the deep end.
All we do is commercial work, we take ALL debris with us. It's built into the contract pricing. We use ESS crossbow safety glasses (price ranges), in my opinion they are #1.
Brian love your blog. Question I noticed that your first pass sprayed grass in the road. There is a big push to not spray grass in the road because of motorcycles. What / how do you handle situations like this where there is no choice. Unless you took multiple passes back mowing all in to the lawn. Asking. Thanks
Yeah I would've went straight ghetto at that point. Not sure how the sequence of events would've went down. Call the police to get a report, notify the property management company then wait until your apology comes in. You handled it 100% professional
I would eat at the restaurant when she's working and simply smile and say "Good seeing you again!" 😂 She obviously has personal issues that she's sadly projecting onto others. Hopefully it's a learning experience for her.
You definitely handled it well. Maybe when you arrive let the manager or whoever is in charge know you’re here doing the work outside the place for the owner? So they don’t jump into conclusions. I know it might be a waste of time but a couple minutes doing that can save a lot of headaches. I don’t know if you did (I’m sure you did). Unfortunately a lot of people jump into conclusions that they shouldn’t be doing. Good job the way you handled it! I would’ve done differently. Cops definitely showing up!
Brian, how could these people! Really? You've been doing their lawn and even bought a meal from them. This made me very angry to see them do you this way. I maintain a lawn for a barbeque restaurant here in Texas. The owner gives me a free lunch, all the cold drinks I need on these hot days, and then lets me use the dumpster for all lawn clippings and trash. Not that I'm spoiled or anything like that, but couldn't this restaurant at least let you use the dumpster? BTW, my worst mowing experience this summer was that residential customer I have with a 4" x 8" front door that shattered while I was edging, and right before the customer would have family over for the weekend. But they forgave me and I made it right with a new door.
Take this video and combine with the video you did on assessing customer fees and add a couple of extra fees: 1) a dumping/hauling/clean-up fee, should have taken a photo of the garbage in the truck and sent to the property manager that hired you and said that since folks associated with the property decided your truck was a garbage truck you're going to assess a fee for that 2) a consultation fee (aka a dealing with idiots associated with the property fee), basically need a fee that says that if you have to talk to extra folks associated with the property and explain to them what you're doing and why then there's an extra fee associated with that, basically anyone associated with the property wastes your time then they are also wasting the property manager's money.
you definitely handled that better than i woulda lol

I was 3 seconds away from wanting to do that, ha!
hell yea, that would have been perfect
I would’ve. No F’s given
@@BriansLawnMaintenance nah in front of dumpster. Then bin wont be touched by truck lol
Legit exactly what went thru my mind. Send it all day
I tell my customers that I can charge them to dump, OR I can use your dumpster, they usually appreciate the latter.

Some people are elementary, good job Brian, dont sink to others level, stay true .

Way to keep your composer man! Respect. You’re gonna keep growing with that attitude. Props man!
You're telling me that cutting grass isn't all sunshine and rainbows?! MIND=BLOWN! Haha! That's a crazy story. As usual, you handled that with class.
Lol you know it!

Wiley X are by far my favorite sunglasses let alone safety sunglasses. Better than my Oakley’s.
Not to be that guy or anything but if they did that to my $800 truck, somebody would be picking up pieces of their vehicle
Ah shit you have a S10 too? 🤣😂🤣😂😂 That's what I have
You are a classy dude Brian!! That's a great example of how to handle a bad situation!! 👏👏👏👍
I would have made use of that dump bed that's for sure😂
That’s a new word for me “Goop” love it!😂
Love the content!
You can’t fix stupid and you can’t reason with crazy. You handled it very well.
Talk about a bad day! I can remember one day last year when I got harassed by a guy looking for cigarettes, a drunk wanting me to trim his shrubs, and chased by a hooker. And yes, this was all in one day at one apartment complex. Just another day in the life, I guess...
Really great patience Brian, great job
You handled that situation a hell of a lot better than I would’ve brother!!!
Been doing this since before 1992 and iv never heard anything like it
Sounds like you handled it well
Good Job MOWBRO👍
Lessons learned

I would have (wanted to) take every greasy trashbag & set them ablaze outside the front door of the restaurant. You showed amazing restraint.
Wow man you are a really good guy for handling that situation the way u did !!!
Good words of wisdom ! Ur a better man than me. I would have probably come unglued on someone !!
Oh wow dude. That's insane! Been accused of unlawful trimming of hedges... with our whip no less. 😂👌 righttt
Snitch lol
A felony?? What would be the felony charge??
If she leaves her sunroof open, empty the weed bucket into the car. JK 😂
It’s great to hear about terrible days from other people.
I got into an argument with a guy at one of my old workplaces, but when I found out what he was going thru in his personal life I actually felt bad...some people under a lot of stress and take it out in the wrong ways..its always best to try and be patient
I think the mowing vlogs is what you are best at !😁
Some day's I get the bear, some day's the bear gets me. It's called life.
Get your truck detailed and pass the bill on to them. Your a bigger man .
Haha
Great vids keep up the great work.
Nice video Brian. Man that sucks, that is not their right to destroy your property.
They didn't destroy anything, just made a mess.
Wow! Hell of a story and a great reaction. Handled it very professional and with out the cops. Hope she gets fired. Lol " who does she think she is"
Another great video brother. I can learn from this
All we do is commercial work, we take ALL debris with us. It's built into the contract pricing. We use ESS crossbow safety glasses (price ranges), in my opinion they are #1.
Smart! Something we’ll be evaluating moving forward.
Brian love your blog. Question I noticed that your first pass sprayed grass in the road. There is a big push to not spray grass in the road because of motorcycles. What / how do you handle situations like this where there is no choice. Unless you took multiple passes back mowing all in to the lawn. Asking. Thanks
We always blow it back into the lawn, always. I don’t believe people should be leaving clippings in the road. That’s all!
Yeah I would've went straight ghetto at that point. Not sure how the sequence of events would've went down.
Call the police to get a report, notify the property management company then wait until your apology comes in. You handled it 100% professional
they needed some southern hospitality ear talk. Guys please come see me out stating to post some content from cutting. great work Brain
I would eat at the restaurant when she's working and simply smile and say "Good seeing you again!" 😂 She obviously has personal issues that she's sadly projecting onto others. Hopefully it's a learning experience for her.
Great video brother keep up the awesome work
You definitely handled it well.
Hello there bud. Hope you and Liz are doing very very well. ✌👍
I know you did the right thing you can get mad but don't lose your cool is best way to deal with people that helps calm them down
I didn't hit the subscribe button just for more mowing vlogs... I did it cause I love the video's. Amazing video's all the way around.
Ha thanks champ!
Amazing way to handle things
How tf does this video have 57k views and only 2500 likes? Like this man's stuff.
Haha thanks Jacob!
@@BriansLawnMaintenance no problem man. Been watching your channel for years. Gunna try to start my own company next year. Keep up the great videos!
I’ve seen different ways of doing it yet how do you pull weeds?
Tools?
Simple poker tool yup
Great videos! Love your content
