That would be a great way to come back from a storm break!! I am still looking for my first Flathead here in South Central Missouri but I won't stop until it happens.
That was a nice one,I hope everyone appreciates the Effort you and Ryan put into chasing those whiskered fish. And really, the Walters and Wipers along with any other species you guts manage to get on the end of your lines.I know I do,Keep up the good work guys.
I love lower water here on the upper Mississippi river . Wing dams expose themselves and makes things easier to not take out a lower unit ! Getting stuck on sand not so much !
I fish similar water to you in a 1648 with a 32hp surface drive motor. I have a 9ft beaver chewed stick and an 11ft piece of electrical conduit I picked up along the river in my boat all the time. Those are my reverse and push poles for avoiding logs while drifting, lots of stuff. They are some of the most used things in the boat. Way handier for me than a paddle on the shallow rivers. Keep up the good work, I love your videos.
Wow Spencer that was a great kitty! I believe you can no longer say that you didn't catch say nine flatheads recently. Anyway thanks fir sharing another great time on the water!
Turtles are the bane of my existence. Rivers over here are absolutely loaded with softshells. Some nights it's almost 50 turtles to every fish at certain spots. A few years ago we took 10 tubs of liver out, caught 3 channels and about 200 8-10" turtles. Did get an @50lb carp and a 26" softshell that night too, but I eat neither of those. After that night, I rarely use liver, and have switched over to mostly cut bait. I miss my boat, and want to get another when I can to avoid having to fish the turtle-y spots so much.
That was a dandy seven incher. We anchor closer to brush piles and set em in the rod holders and crank the drag, no clicker. They just get back in the brush and can't get em out. It'll test your tackle that's for sure. Another awesome vid and keep your powder dry and your pantry stocked young man 💪😎🙏
@@riverrat988 there's 2 river rat's now I know up in iowa there's 1 that lives up on the locks has a 30 foot flat bottom boat he lives year around up there if I was younger and smarter I'd be doing the same thing have a nice day

Absolutely bud, totally awesome 👍, fish! I can dig it, I really dig it! Haha! Yeah I know back when me, my cousin and Uncle were Flathead fishing, either the Great Miami river or a fishing club lake that we fished quite a bit, but everytime we went we were lucky to land maybe two or three at the most, out of numerous runs that we would get, didn't matter about any hook set, or hook, or whatever. We did hit the river one time, just me and my uncle, and we had a fantastic night, from just before dark until about 1 am, we caught around 12 flatheads and all over 10 lbs, the biggest ones about 30, but you wouldn't believe what we were using for bait, it was all we could get at the time, all small channel cats about the size of that small to medium sized bullhead you were using there. The flatheads in the great Miami loved them, I don't know why we didn't think about before that. Of course they liked smallmouths too, but that was against the law to use...... hmmm.
That's some pretty phenomenal fishing. I haven't used little channels too much, but I have a few buddies that caught flatheads on them. I bet smallmouth would make a wonderful bait, but I don't think I could put one on a hook.
@@RiverCertified - yeah I didn't want to use smallmouths either, even back then but that Great Miami is full of them, it's only natural that the flatheads in there are going to like them, along with the channels, there's an abundance of both in that river, oh and red-eyes too ( rock bass).

Nice fish 😎👍 and that's what happens when you come home from those out of town trips, you catch real fish 🐳 .... Oh and I was gonna suggest a great New Zealand invention that gets us through those shallow shingle bed rivers but you mentioned it at about 5 & half mins in .... The good old Hamiltin jet 😊 Good to see you back into those big fatties and to see Ryan again and things and stuff👍
I got to say that is a huge flat head but in the water in the net it did not look nowhere near that big until you held it up and I seen that fat head thanks for the video Spencer and I did it like watching beginning with Ryan although you all didn't cut on each other too deep LOL anyways have a good week thank you for the video

You should do a video of your rod/line/ and hook setup and show some of us rookie fisherman’s what’s the right setup for catfish

Spencer, way to go , persistent's is what drives a real go getter, great flathead. Totally enjoyed man..
If I'm nothing else, I'm persistent. Some may even say stubborn haha
We deal with those 1.1' depths in Lake Okeechobee every summer. There's a reason people use airboat down there.
If they weren't so loud I'd think about getting one.

What’s the orange thing dangling above the reel
You probably answer this a lot but what reels are those you are using I really like the looks of them ?
They should be linked in the description. Hope that helps!

What kind of reel is on that rod? Not the baitcaster one.

The last couple times I’ve gone the gar drove me nuts. Greenies would come back scaled. What a waste of good bait. Do they bother bullheads as bad?
Not as bad, but definitely at times
I guess now I just need to find a pond/creek full of bullheads.
