The amount of knowledge that's presented in this video is amazing. Im going to continue to study to become this knowledgable about aviation. I really love this field. The challenges the journey it feels so rewarding when you accomplish the goals you set out. Thank you Boldmethod
Very well explained, thank you a lot for illustration. It was definitely one of the lessons that I have mostly enjoyed. I will absolutely pop into your other videos when the time suits. Thank you again
Thank you for the video, but I have one question: why is the tail-down force's center of rotation is the center of lift (13.50), but not a CG of the aircraft? Because in that case with the CG's movement to the front part, the lever from the tail-down force would also increase and therefore its torque would have also been increased and compensated nose-down torque from the lift.
Frame of Reference. A key idea of science. You can compute the balance of forces about the CG, Center of Pressure of the Wing, or even the Center of Pressure of the Tail. It will balance. This is something Engineers do all the time when doing force calculations, and they typically pick the location that makes the math simplest to solve. In reality, things rotate about the CG, but it's easier to understand the difference without having to constantly change the arm of the tail and the wing, thus making it easier for most people to see the balance of forces. Most people understand the seesaw analogy more intuitively.
10:20, the "large distance" arrow should end at the CG of the plane, not at the CL. The moments (torque) should be caluclated around the centre of rotation, which in this case is the CG.
Would I be correct in saying that the CL moves forward with an increase in AOA due to the disruption of smooth airflow at the trailing edge as we increase AOA?
If you moved those bowling balls up to the front seats, could you not for a time (up to a certain specific weight or position) simply increase your airspeed in order to counteract the change in CG rather than increasing your angle-of-attack? Given enough weight and forward CG, there will come a point where nothing but an increase in AofA will counter the dynamic effects. But up to that specific, unknown quantity it does seem like an increase in speed only will develop the additional lift necessary to negate the shift in CG.
Hi, i had a qiestion in the PPL exam asking, if all the weights are Positive where would be the CG of the plane.. 1. ahead of the nose, 2. at the nose wheel, 3. between the tail wheels.. can you pls help me with this explanation ? thanks
In others explanation refers that when we have C.G in aft pos our aircraft will have tendency to picht up!; also in a Weight and balance of an aircraft, for example in a barón 58 in you charge more weight to the aft position at the time to draw in the paragrafh it going to the aft position!. Can you clarify that?
Large vehicles like semis carrying large loads on the highways or ships with amazing huge loads of containers or hundreds of cars or river barges carrying movable contents like liquid have to be concerned with CG and motion of the vehicle contents. Imagine an aircraft carrier's balance issues! Changing an engine could easily change the balance around the CG. Change in fuel burn in left or right wing would change balance that way too.
Of the thousands of studies regarding aerodynamic flight conducted on countless species of birds, the data shows that virtually all of them (with the exception of the California Condor which is slightly "aft" or tail heavy) have a perfectly balanced CG. Nah, I can't back that up hah!
hi sir i need yur help actually i have build a rc plane but its tale is too heavy but i dont have enough margin to add more weight because this could be a cause of under power motor
Why would the aircraft be unstable if the center of lift and the center of gravity were in the same place? Or if the center of gravity was slightly aft of the center of lift?
Hi, everyone...Pedro Santos from Brasil....Sorry...but what for letters on left scale?...28% of what? Im just a basic classrom in first theory studies yet...Thanks, everyone!!!
democrat or republican..this guy didn't vote for Trump...he knows exactly what he knows and doesn't pretend to know what he doesn't know. no bs. it may make me old fashioned , but I really admire that, and i've learned a great deal through this awesome presentation. thank u for posting this.
This is brilliant for those wanting to go into aerodynamics in more detail.
"Don't memorize forward C.G. = Higher Stall Speed, learn to work it out" - Amen !
Still the best video, many thanks from South Korea.
You guys are the best, I am a CFI now and I am so thankful with you and all your videos

First video that I watched from your channel. Earned my subscription.
brilliant explanation. this person truly understands what they are talking about... and these days that is rare
I’m wondering since a while why no streams anymore. I really liked it.
I LOLed when you said that pilots don't ever lose weight.

That was one of the best videos you have done, well done, thank you for it :).
awesome content, cheers from Brazil

Excellent information, thank you!
awesome! CPL flight test in a few days... good revision!!

Great video! Very well explained!
Thanks!

How come the tail downforce moment arm act from CP not CG??????

Great explanation and visuals on CG theory. Thanks!
thank you for a helpful video😃

Great content 🤘🏼
Nice job once again! Thank you very much.
Thanks!
And as you slow down landing the tail and elevator needs to maintain downward control. Also, the CG is not that forward the center of lift, ever...

Excellent
how does c of g affects control effect?

@Bryce Bailey Thanks for answering my question.
@Bryce Bailey small question plis, is it the same
Neutral Point and Center of Lift?
how does location CG effect the longitudinal Stability? anyone?

Some 41% to Landing 4% Left kT scale affects CG ...Looking at it ...altimeter is broken...4% is death?... LoL
