hey bro dope vocal chain try running the compression thru the neve spx insert on the back when using compression then press the insert button on front for some reason it gives off a different dope sound its almost like it it adds more color to the signal
I’ve LITERALLY been waiting for a competition like this to EXIST ! I had the idea but not the capital or equipment/ pull to make this happen ! I will be locked in to EVERY EPISODE ‼️
The Chain from Colt at first sounded better to me, because It sounded fuller, more correct and more finished. But after listening in comparison, I felt some interesting nuances in Archie’s decisions and hardware that leave open space for further interesting signal editing. But because of the fact, that Colt‘s sound more „finished“ and pop likable, wich I think was more important in this task, I will go for colt’s. Thank you for this amazing video, didn’t know I needed something like this.
This was a great challenge! The industry needed something like this to bring some much needed fun, learning, and laughter to all the viewers and subscribers. Thanks guys!
both sound cool but yours sounds like her and finished the first thing i thought after listening to her was the tube mic, the tube mic and neve they made the difference, 💯
What a fun concept. Definitely some thoughts. You can tell that Colt is primarily a mix engineer. The end result sounds like a finished mix. Archie on the other hand kinda straddles production, tracking, and mixing more evenly - so the raw tracked sound is fantastic but sits a little "on top of" the music. If the final product was being released AS IS - I would pick Colt's. If the tracking were being sent to me to mix, I would very slightly prefer Archie's because I know I could fit that sound in the mix without losing any of the great qualities. I hope there's more of these.
Colts was closer to a finished mix while Archie’s was closer to a performance mix like he aimed for ! Colt didn’t leave much room for later processing while archies chain would be great for live performance content while still preserving dynamic to create whatever kind of style post tracking. Archie is the winner for me, her natural voice really shined and is beautiful !
As a vocalist and an engineer, I have to say I love both for different reasons. The acapella versions I love Archie's with the dynamics and attitude it compelles from the singers voice. But Colt's is so much more smooth and controlled and bettert suited for a mix. Having said that, I feel the capabilities of both rigs are amazingly going to give you what you want if you know how to get it! I know the Lauten Atlantis being a FET mic already adds a bit of compression type characterists to its source, in a very pleasant way, but it does smooth out the dynamics of a vocal naturally just singing through it even before any compression. The TF 51 is defnitelky a more "hot" sunding mic, but this is all relative. I know the Colt setup is more capable and versatile in my opinion, whereas the Archie setup is more tempremental to the singer and operator of the gear. Neither would be a bad setup, but one does lend itself more to working with the artist and engineer while the other is keyed in to one sound and needs taming at that. Judgemental or not, I think that sounds realistic. Thanks for such a wonderful rig builders episode and all parties involved bringing something enjoyable to listen to onto the table.
This was so cool too see. Thanks sweetwater for reminding us to spread companionship among this community and showcasing brands that often get overshadowed by lack of experimentation. I really enjoy this series and cant wait to see what you bring next.
Imagen getting this oppertunity! I felt like I was there going through all the Sweetwater products and trying to pick the right vocal chain and 1 hour with $10,000 seems like enough time but as we saw its not when you have that many great options! Both colt and Archie did an amazing job at capturing her vocals! I think you can't go wrong with both of there choices when it comes to the gear! one day ill have this gear but I learned a lot! thanks Mitch & Sweetwater for this episode! can't wait to see what else is next!
Glad I found this. I’d say coles is pop/radio ready but I honestly like the feel of Archie’s vocal more. It just feels better. Coles is clean and present but Archie’s just gotta feel to it!
I like both, but Colt's [no bias] sounds more transparent, the other one has a "throatiness" to it that messes with my emotions. Never the less, great job both of you master creators. Thank you for for what you do.
this was gold, didn't skip one bit, would love to see this used with a daw, like for beginners like myself, with vocal chain, where would you fit in reverb? autotune, or even delay?
Colt had a great smooth pop chain, Archie had a more gritty trap/R&B thing going on. I think the only difference is perspective and what the artist is going for. I think the Archie chain accentuated the grittiness of that synth bass, whereas Colt chain had the pop star bringing in some attitude kind of feel.
Loved the previous episode, love this episode. What a brilliant idea this is! Very excited to see what comes along next. Excellent choices by both contestants - I think I'd go with Archie's rig, but it's just personal taste because both rigs are excellent!
@@DONKEYFORRENT yes it is. thats why i voted for what i thought sounded better in my opinion being Colt'r rig. I think he dialed it in just right which is why it came out so good, but im just saying i really liked the gear Archie picked too.
I can’t wait till the drum rig episode!!! I bet the man himself, Nick D’Virgilio will be the judge. I’m excited!!!!! I even think the contestants will have to choose the following for their rig: drum kit, cymbals, sticks, heads, and even electronics, like a multi-pad or something, and a monitor to power said multi-pad. The budget would probably have to be $15,000!!!
this is a cool concept I love it. I remember a thing RODE did years ago they had a studio saver video series. They would send someone in to save someones home studio usually setting it up, putting in acoustic panels, a rode mic of course, etc etc. Went over really well like it looks like this will.
While I fully support the Writer's and SAG-AFTRA strike, thank god for things like this to fill the void. One of my favorite RUclips series in quite some time.
I think Cults won it, but was more won through the way it used it. Archie's could have done with the output signal taken down a notch so the vocal blended into the song a little more. I would have chosen a mixture of both their rigs for mine. It's hard to say which setup was better rather than the job each did with the products. The microphone was the part making the real last note of difference. Archie's choice of microphone doesn't have that baked in quality you get from Cults choice and because of that it could be saved by more compression but decided to go with less compression... I think he was thinking to much on flattering the quality of the persons voice rather than the quality of the overall track.
Both sound good. I like the way Archie’s rig controlled the highs and it sound more like a finish sound to me. Great job on both rigs. I love this series. Excited for more

Do one were they gotta make synth sounds
I watched , listened repeatedly to both the dry and full mixes in some get headphones. But there is NO place on my page to enter. Frustrating!!
Archie I think he got em
Who wonnnnnnnnnn the entry!???
this was amazing ...im a artist n engineer n a long time customer how can i get on the list for this show
Had a blast! Thanks for letting me be a part of it!
Banana Laffy Taffy keeps a drum session going strong. Trust me on this.
awesome, I liked Archie rig, more alive sounding
your's sound more Grammy ready sir....
Your chain wins sir! So crisp and clear! Love it!
Once I seen Archie’s rig I knew it was over lol but, like the fact you went with gear I’d never heard in action.
Awesome. This was fun😂! Thank you all 🙌🏾
Great to see you my boi!!! ✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿
hey bro dope vocal chain try running the compression thru the neve spx insert on the back when using compression then press the insert button on front for some reason it gives off a different dope sound its almost like it it adds more color to the signal
The Neve spx is just golden! And your mic choice for her vocals was top..
After listening .. definitely like Archie’s set up 🙏🏾‼️
Your mix was just awesome man! Great job.
This is so sick, I love this series already.
Hope to see you on this show too, Andrew.
cap
We need you on the show my man!
Thanks so much for having me apart of this! Definitely going to be a hard decision for the listeners. They both did amazing work 💥🙏🏼✨✨✨
The fact that Mitch is narrating this makes it so much more cooler. I am enjoying this already!
Colt sounded US and Archie sounded Uk like! I felt both sounds and I am from Germany and love this content, Sweetwater. Thanks for the show!
I like the fullness of colts choices even as a pop vocal. Its well rounded.
I’ve LITERALLY been waiting for a competition like this to EXIST ! I had the idea but not the capital or equipment/ pull to make this happen ! I will be locked in to EVERY EPISODE ‼️
I found Archie's channel earlier this year and he's awesome! Glad to see him getting more recognition

Great video!
As for the results, my ears loved Colt's Rig. That VLC1 is just so musical.
Thanks again for this video, great content!
both sound cool but yours sounds like her and finished the first thing i thought after listening to her was the tube mic, the tube mic and neve they made the difference, 💯
This was truly amazing! Love the Neve 1073 so much its used in almost all my videos and songs😍
This is the best show to come around, innovative marketing and very entertaining. I can watch this all day, great move sweetwater!
What a fun concept. Definitely some thoughts.

Archie's chain was more lively I felt the singer's vibe more.
For Me Colt's were the best rig for this. With more distortion make the voice agressive poping the voice with caracter. Amazing!
Colt's rig, every day of the week 🔥

I prefer more rounded and less harsh vocals in general so Colt is the winner for me
This was so cool too see. Thanks sweetwater for reminding us to spread companionship among this community and showcasing brands that often get overshadowed by lack of experimentation. I really enjoy this series and cant wait to see what you bring next.
This series is so great! The Atlantis would've been my first choice as well! Both rigs were 100% useable for a final record.
Colt's Rig Is The One For Me But They Both Great
Colt‘s chain rocked this thing!
That’s my Choice 🔥
Colt takes my vote, although Archie's sounded great too! Good luck to both
Man oh man !!!
I felt like a baby waiting for milk.
Those gears oufff !!!
Love it !
Now that’s how you advertise a company:) Kudos. Big fun and informative.
@ColtCapperune and @archiebeatz, both of you are masters! Great sounding tracks from you both!
Both sound amazing! But my preference is for Colt's :)
This was awesome! Colt’s was my fav. So fun to watch. Great idea for a show.
Its about damn time you came out with a new Rig builder video!!! Absolutely loved it!!!

my two favorite youtubers ... woow very interesting combination
Mitch's chops are looking pretty rad!
Right on! 💯
Glad I found this. I’d say coles is pop/radio ready but I honestly like the feel of Archie’s vocal more. It just feels better. Coles is clean and present but Archie’s just gotta feel to it!
This is the best thing EVER!!! GREAT job understanding your audience sweetwater!!!
Colt, I love your work bro but Archie killed it here. That was incredible how beautiful her voice sounded!
Wow, how did I miss this? Both of my favorite RUclipsrs together in one room
I like both, but Colt's [no bias] sounds more transparent, the other one has a "throatiness" to it that messes with my emotions. Never the less, great job both of you master creators. Thank you for for what you do.
This was fun to watch, both mixes sound really good. Looking forward to the results.
This was dope guys! 🤘🏾
this was gold, didn't skip one bit, would love to see this used with a daw, like for beginners like myself, with vocal chain, where would you fit in reverb? autotune, or even delay?
I was worried you were not doing more of this, it’s really great show for gear heads!
I like both rigs but I think Colt’s rig sounds better but Archie being so good at dialing in though
Great seeing my friend from my hometown @Archie Beatz! Great work and super proud of you!
This is so good! Awesome job guys!
Loved the previous episode, love this episode. What a brilliant idea this is! Very excited to see what comes along next. Excellent choices by both contestants - I think I'd go with Archie's rig, but it's just personal taste because both rigs are excellent!
Well, this ought to be interesting. Can't wait to see the outcome. Great video, thanks for sharing 🤘
2 of my favorite RUclipsrs so dope!!!!
Wow, y’all did a great job with your picks and the singing was great also! Good luck to the voters!
Both sound incredible - really hard to choose - great job, fellas.
What an amazing premise for the show! I’m a huge fan! Although it’s kind of hilarious that it’s produced like a early 2000s game show 😂😂
I can't choose. Both mixes sound INCREDIBLE!!!!
Always good vibes at Sweetwater 🙏🏼
Im crying laughing at the pop filter
This was awesome! Great job Sweetwater! Keep this going! 👊🏾💯🔥🔥
I like how Colt's chain sounded better in the mix, but i liked Archie's gear choice better. They both sounded amazing
Isn't the better sounding chain the better choice (in this instance at least)?
@@DONKEYFORRENT yes it is. thats why i voted for what i thought sounded better in my opinion being Colt'r rig. I think he dialed it in just right which is why it came out so good, but im just saying i really liked the gear Archie picked too.
I love this series already. It's very useful for me. Thanks so much
This is brilliant marketing and Sweetwater is absolutely killing it!
Awesome show..This is by far one of the best shows on youtube...HANDS DOWN😎
Literally watched this on normal speed and fully enjoyed it!
D'Will was about to give Mitch G, the dap and realized he had to keep it Classic Rock lol. Love it.
I can’t wait till the drum rig episode!!! I bet the man himself, Nick D’Virgilio will be the judge. I’m excited!!!!! This was amazing! I've purchased most of my gear from Sweetwater so I can relate. Thanks guys
this is a cool concept I love it. I remember a thing RODE did years ago they had a studio saver video series. They would send someone in to save someones home studio usually setting it up, putting in acoustic panels, a rode mic of course, etc etc. Went over really well like it looks like this will.
I’d like to here a blend of the two, both were great and had great qualities that would sound great together
So fun! Interesting to hear two very different approaches and discover how they get there.
Learned a lot from this episode thanks and good luck everyone
While I fully support the Writer's and SAG-AFTRA strike, thank god for things like this to fill the void. One of my favorite RUclips series in quite some time.
wow. great engineers on such an intriguing challenge
Love this content! You guys are REALLY cooking with this . Ingenious way to promote product and entertain us at the same time
What a great concept.. Great Job Colt and Archie... ❤
I like Colts rig the best!
Yessssd I was just thinking about this series!!!!
This very dope
I hope y’all keep doing these
Can’t wait to be a part of one
Una de las mejores series en youtube
man i would love to be a sales engineer and just nerd out with other folk and help em spend they money. Keep doing these videos so much fun to watch.
This was great. Learned a lot about vocal chains and hardware.
Archies’ works really well with her voice. Colt’s was not far behind by no means. Loved both but Archies’ imo fit better. Very entertaining guys! 👏

I think he was thinking to much on flattering the quality of the persons voice rather than the quality of the overall track.
This is so cool! Love to hear the mindset for the choices made in this song.
This is the best reality TV content I've ever seen. Yeah!
Sweetwater is the GOAT! I got some sweet Earthwork drum mics from them before with the help of some great sales engineers.
This would be great to win. Like the series too
Is it possible to win the contest if u live in Canada?
That was awesome! All sounded awesome!!
Love this series please keep these going!
Love the idea for this video! Need more of those!
I love this! No wrong chain it’s all about personal preference.
Both sound good. I like the way Archie’s rig controlled the highs and it sound more like a finish sound to me. Great job on both rigs. I love this series. Excited for more
Wow. Just wow. This is so interesting. You guys gotta give us at least two/three episodes per month. 😊
it's crazy cause I was just thinking about building a vocal chain so this is awesome
this is so dope, at the part where they get to go to the studio
Two dope engineers!!! Great work fellas!!!
Colt is my boy, so Colt it is 💪
We need more of this!!!
This is exciting SweetWater!!! Keep going and diversify the categories…
The pop filter part was funny lol. But man this concept was dopppppeee!!!!!!!
