Jon Novak Heel toe is just another technique IMO...if its your body doing it, its not cheating. Similar to how alternate picking on guitar is a more efficient technique than straight down strokes and no one calls that cheating. Heel up can sound better at times just like down strokes on guitar can, but if you're going for fast 16th notes it don't make much difference and you might as well use the more economical technique.
