    Thanks man for the DYI. Saved me a lot of money. Just a note to anyone else, where he has installed a oil catch can. In a stock Terrain the positive crankcase ventilation hose is PVC. Mine broke relatively easy right at the fitting at the engine and complicated this whole process. Just be super careful not to snag / pull the hose when taking off the plastic engine cover.

      Thanks for watching. And your advice is spot on. When I went to install the catch can that pcv hose snapped on me. If one snaps on you they can be ordered on Amazon for $17CAD. A lot of these components are delicate. Especially during cold Canadian winters. Thanks again and please like and subscribe.

I bought mine off Amazon. Here is a link to a similar one. The brand I got is no longer sold on Amazon. What are the symptoms of a bad purge solenoid? Why do you want to replace it?

    • @BillOfAllTrades2016
      @BillOfAllTrades2016  2 года назад +4

      Symptoms of a bad purge solenoid are as follows. The most obvious would be a check engine light and a P0443 code. Rough idling and poor or weak engine performance can also come from a faulty solenoid. If you notice your fuel consumption has increased with no change to your driving habits then this may be the solenoid. You may also experience difficulty starting the vehicle. Hope this helps. • @2kfbbuff
      @2kfbbuff Год назад

      if you are not very regular with your oil changes your Variable Timing sensors could get gummed up with oil and cause this issue. easy to replace and not extremely expensive parts. I bought mine on amazon and they are still working after many months of use.

    • @BillOfAllTrades2016
      @BillOfAllTrades2016  Год назад

      Yes the solenoids are most common for sputtering. Clean first to see if it helps. Screens may be clogged with debris not letting oil pass through. If issue still persists then replace both solenoids. Thanks for sharing your advice. Please like and subscribe

    Can the evap purge solenoid cause code p2437?

    • @BillOfAllTrades2016
      @BillOfAllTrades2016  Год назад +1

      A p2437 code is related to the secondary air injection system. This is e very tough long job. Depending on your skill level I would advise to take it to a mechanic. I do a ton of diy maintenance on mine but personally if that code came up for me I wouldn’t even attempt it. I would go to a mechanic. You may have a clog in one of the two secondary air injection solenoids, or it could be a short in the circuit. It’s at least a 1 hour job by a certified technician and there are tons of little pieces that have to come off. I’m sorry I couldn’t help you on this particular issue, however I hope you could still like and subscribe as I have tons of other videos and always more to come that you may find helpful. • @BillOfAllTrades2016
      @BillOfAllTrades2016  Год назад

      I’m reading up on the evap not ready issue. It looks like you need to idle for 5 minutes, then drive around town for 5 minutes, then idle for 5 minutes so it can be ready. I’ve never experienced that message, but try that method and rescan to see what pops up after.

    I have to question the sanity of the people who are in car sales, and car repair. I have a Chevy equinox 2015 then I cannot get a straight answer about what's wrong with it. It's like they bring I take it to them and they're asking me to pay for diagnostic on it, even when they do diagnostic on it without my permission. They won't tell me what's wrong with it the only thing that I know is that somebody has said the engine the motor is locked up cuz there was no oil on the dipstick. But there is no oil on the dipstick when it's 3 quarts low. I know I shut it off and it wouldn't start. I don't know if it was the starter I don't know if it's the motor I don't know what it is. And they can't put it on diagnostic and less than get it started. On top of that they won't tell me what's wrong they won't tell me how they can diagnose it I actually told me that they felt like it deserved a different owner.

    • @cherylallen7101
      @cherylallen7101 2 года назад

      I mean what does that say when they say that it deserves a different owner but they won't tell me what's wrong with it so I can get it fixed. But there's always something wrong with it and it's always worse once I take it to them to have a minor repair there's always something else wrong with it. I had plans this summer of replacing the door motor myself cuz I saw a video online of how a woman replaced the the door motor and I can't get a head for anything because somebody doesn't want me to have something nice.

    • @BillOfAllTrades2016
      @BillOfAllTrades2016  2 года назад

      I would be having it towed to a different mechanic. Are you taking it to a dealership or local garage? Unfortunately they do need to diagnose it to find the issue. Some mechanics charge for diagnostic some don’t. The fact that they are telling you they need to start the car to diagnose is wildly incorrect. I could see if they wanted to see the live stream of the engine if it were an issue that only happens while running. They sometimes record the live data while they take it for a drive. However in the situation you describe, the engine doesn’t need to be running to simply pull a code. They are shady and you need to get away from them. Other than that I’m not sure what else to say
