If society totally collapses, it would be another “Dark Ages” where knowledge and technology is lost and a primitive lifestyle emerges. In cold climates it would be following herd animals, for food and raw material resources, except large herds of animals are gone. In temperate climates it would be using renewable plants and small animals for food and raw material resources, except jungle forests have been cut down and replaced with cities. A survivalist plans to live out a short term disruption of society long enough for modern society to recover without any long term plans to live a primitive lifestyle forever.
I would like to be prepared for a solar storm, when all the electrical equipment is knocked out. The primary thing we will need is homegrown food and fresh water.

Human beings are a social species that survived and evolved into a civilization through cooperation, not locking ourselves underground with a few tins of beans and a gun. We work our problems out, not cosplaying the dark ages.
Prepare for the Afterlife. The first stop is the life of the grave which is longer than this life. Then Resurrection for the Day of Judgement which is 50 000 years long, then eternity in Paradise or the Fire. Only Islamic Monoteism (Tawhid) and certain belief in the Afterlife by not saying that you eill turn to dust and vanish into non-existence will give you safety and bliss in those stages of the Afterlife. Those whom this life distracted to duch an extent that they made the creation as equals and partners with their Creator or were greedy for it until they said that they will turn to dust and vanish into non-existence, those will never see peace or relief after their last breath.
