I have to wonder if there was some really early foreshadowing. In the house that took the doctor's family in early in season 1, the wife of the old couple who owns the house yells it is Armageddon. Early on, of course, we, as viewers, tied her statement directly to the alien invasion, but what if it was meant to foreshadow something more. Casper seems to walk in both worlds, and those who are taken seem to be added to "the hive consciousness," almost like an afterlife.....
