Any other drum solo I've heard devolves pretty quickly into a cacophony of overlapping, "hit everything there is at the same time" mess. I'm sure those who know about drums enjoy them and can hear the technique. But this, this is not just different, it's better. This has a theme, you can play this at any tme and jam to it, it was like telling a story. This is real music.
Ricardo Morales this is what’s missing today in music. These older guys has a uniqueness. Now a lot of musicians has spent the last decade or more competing with other RUclips musicians and everyone sounds the same and can’t write a powerful song that sticks.
Don't wanna be a dick, but either you haven't listened to many drum solos at all or, when you have, the stuff goes over your head so that you only hear the drummer "hit everything there is at the same time". I like solos which explore new rhythmical ideas. None of that here. At all. 0 creativity. As the drummer for MJ, this guy was perfect. He has pocket. He never overplays (my opinion is that he underplays in live performances, but that's a matter of taste and it's never going to spoil the performance, unlike drummers who overplay). He's aware of everything that makes his drumming add to the musical experience......As a solo artist, he's as stale as they come. Luckily music exists to please the human ear. If you're pleased, more power to him. I'm a professional drummer and my personal opinion is that it was pretty much as boring as a drum solo can be.
This groove sort of sounds like something you'd play during soundcheck to make sure the levels for everything is set properly. It would make a lot of sense, with this legend's experience!
Damn. Totally different approach to most solos you see, and this was amazing. Just variations on a single theme, with an incredibly solid beat throughout.

I haven’t seen or heard any one slam him. But I understand what you’re saying
Technical, clinical and sublime. clean crisp drumming beyond what I thought was possible
Seeing how fantastic this man is at drumming in this video, yet he plays MJs music to a clinical T so simply adds so much to the myth of the man. A true artist at what he does.
B-boy breaks for days. If this existed on vinyl in the 80s it would be every hip-hop dj’s holy grail. It’s not flash. It’s not odd time. It’s just tasty solid GROOVE.
nonsense!
Now is not just a drummer but a musician,!! Playing a beat with a tom melody. He understands phrasing... AWESOME!!!!!
seriously. STFU!
My calf hurts, love how this wasn't just a mess of random rolls around the kit and actually had a groove to it. Nice to see. Much prefer this stuff
i love how we all come back to this masterpiece
His way of playing snare is the highlights in this video the shaking of head.
The fact is that he is using that much power r
Rare drummer who is left in this world to make us know that drums can also be played like this awesome true love from India 👍
My teenage son asked me why the call him Sugarfoot. I showed him this video. He has no further questions.
7:50 of pure awesomeness!! Thank you

"That's the sugarfoot"
2 minutes 32 seconds in I had a cramped shin. so clean and smooth none the less, what a legend
People, I love this guy !
to me this kind of drum solo is way more interesting than the normal variety. He's just playing awesome beats
Ricardo Morales I couldn’t agree more. He exhibits his supreme technique and flawlessly transitions from groove to the next.
Ricardo Morales this is what’s missing today in music. These older guys has a uniqueness. Now a lot of musicians has spent the last decade or more competing with other RUclips musicians and everyone sounds the same and can’t write a powerful song that sticks.
Ricardo Morales Maybe you only listen to shit music.
C. L. I’m a drumming noob but I thought this solo was boring af too. I get that he’s really on time or whatever but IT WAS SO BORING
Consistency is key!
Spending record amounts of money on your video commercials is the key for this guy.
My favourite drummer. Amazing solo!!!
A simple ostinato played with charm! LOVED IT!
When the motions/body cinematics don't look like what you normally see when you watch most other drummers : you know you're on a different level.
This groove sort of sounds like something you'd play during soundcheck to make sure the levels for everything is set properly. It would make a lot of sense, with this legend's experience!
The way he move’s his foot is the reason why they call him “Sugarfoot”!!
Jonathan Moffet is the best drummer I ve ever seen. 👏👏👏👏👏
the wildest thing for me is that he's doing all of this with a look on his face like 'just another tuesday, nothing special'
Damn. Totally different approach to most solos you see, and this was amazing. Just variations on a single theme, with an incredibly solid beat throughout.
4:14 OMG HE HIT A RIDE!
💪💪👏👏👏👏👏
Finally ahahaha
Hahahaha I was wondering why he'd be keeping one
Legend tells that his left foot is still kicking the bass while he's asleep.
Absolutely amazing!
