I had my best looking garden ever this year, Got great cabbage, Onions and Broccoli . Then we got an 11 inch rain that pretty much flooded everything. Its all yellowing. I think my summer peas and corn might survive but my pinto beans and green beans look really bad. We got enough cucumbers for 20 jars of pickles but the butternut squash and straight neck squash harvest is sparse. Tomatoes were so beautiful now a lot of dead leaves and blossom end rot
      Well you asked.

Planting the rest this week. Looking forward to watching your updates Rich and Holly. We are doing the permaculture this year. Never have grown the Napa. I’m hoping our spinach doesn’t bolt early. Maybe you need a shade spot for the Napa. I still haven’t nailed onions. After you burn it down, perhaps try cardboard to keep the weeds out. For our raised beds, we use decaying insides of birch trees, for money saving and nutrients. Looking forward to the updates. It is incredible with the growing zones.

@@northerngirlhobbies I'll look into growing them in shade. Not sure if that is best for them. Someone suggested growing in the fall and I will try that. There must be a way to grow the Napa Cabbage. I'll look into a way to hold down cardboard (and get cardboard). It's so open (and windy) that I don't want the cardboard blowing around and knocking down the plants. It's always something!! Cheers Jen!

Does it have to be Napa cabbage? I know it's traditional for kimche, but I'm in Minnesota also, and my cabbage gets HUGE! I always keep a very thin frost cover over that bed because of the darn moths, but the cabbage seems to love being covered! I leave it on the entire season...just pulling it up on one side to water occasionally. Maybe (if it HAS to be Napa) try covering it!
