Hey Kev. Thank you for this video. I'm the guy at aquashella Daytona that tried to give back my Sentia doser for something else I thought I could use later. You convinced me to keep it and now I know why specifically because of this video. I think now I'm going to buy another one for one of my other tanks just because you made this so clear on how to use. Thanks again for what you do
What a great way to keep consistent parameter levels in the aquarium! I've seen another product like this. I like that this is all done through the App. I would have to watch this video a few more time's for the Installation. 😂 You made that look so easy. Maybe on a future livestream Kev you could tell us how it's been doing and if you like it. Thumbs up to whoever thought of inventing this. Thanks for sharing this Kev! Enjoyed watching! ❤😊
Definitely will do! I’m loving it already! Been tracking the dosing history on the app and it’s spot on! NowI just have to keep an eye on the tank to determine if I need any adjustments. Then the “adaptive” dosing uses your test parameters to auto adjust the dosing accordingly! Super smart! 😁😁
Hey Kave man love the videos. I have a question. I tested my tap water and it's shoeing .25ppm ammonia, I thought was weird after 50% water change my reading didn't go down. What is your solution to this should I buy reverse osmosis filter or something what can I do please help. Thank you
At least you have a sense of humor about it I like that :) But I think we both know a certain really cool upgrade is staring you in the face. Your fish will love you for it. There are zero downsides, and nothing but goodness.
Very cool seeing tools you normally use on the saltwater side over on the fresh water side now days. Still waiting on that saltwater setup Kave! Happy Holidays !
Hello Kevin I love your videos I sold my large aquarium I'm planning on getting a 100 plus gallon aquarium for cichlids I see you have all these chemicals that you put in your beautiful tanks I do not know how you keep track of them just saw your latest latest video for 100 gal cichlid tank what would you recommend for your water changes depending on your test strips I'm a senior and I've been away for about 10 years I truly miss my aquarium I was lucky I only used Water Conditioner salt it was not a planted tank I had my severums for 20 years they were about 8 inches in diameter I had four my tanks never look like yours but they were beautiful thank you for all your work in the hobby you are amazing
Hi kave im wondering ik it's out of the topic but I want to cycle my tank can I use any water conditioner aside from seachem prime? Can you pls help me out

Hey Kev! I wanted to say merry Christmas and also if you’re ever making a trip to Michigan you should check out Preuss Pets in Lansing! It’s the biggest pet store in Michigan and it’s the one I work at, I run our African cichlid department and have had many conversations with people about your videos and how it taught me a lot of what I know. It would be awesome to see you there one day and maybe see a pet store walkthrough video go up too!
Kevin, Good Saturday morning to you and family. I have my 55 ready to start up with a fishless cycle. I used your App and have it exactly to what I have set up. I ran into an important problem or issue.. on the pH, nitrite, amonia page where you add your parameters. It will not ligg or accept my Amonia level. Hoping this will be corrected as I want that graph so I can learn... you rock, Fist Bump....
Hey Freddie! First of all thank you for your support through your membership! I really appreciate you joining! Second, Thanks for downloading and using the app! That ammonia data is a known bug and is in work currently. Will definitely be fixed in the next update as well as some new data logging features that will be added! 😊💪
@KaveManAquatics soon I will join highest level just to get my issue solved. Lol.... this morning, amonia 0, nitrite 5.0, nitrate 5-7ppm. Dosed prime, stability. No water change (until nitrate 40ppm ?)
If you're certain your tank has cycled you really shouldnt need to do that. What I recommend instead is to get an ammonia alert tab which can easily indicate if you get an ammonia spike in your tank. Here's a helpful video - ruclips.net/video/yoSm3VFIvxQ/видео.html I appreciate your support through the membership sir! And Thank you for your service as well!
Can I get a recommendation on a good feeder for my African chilids tank for a 75 Gallon and 20 gallon please? Going away for 3 days don't want to have issues with fish when gone thank you
hey Kev, i need a video on your thoughts on the differences between having a sump and canister filters. I have my first sump on a 75 gallon now and I'm starting to plan out a custom aquariums tank I want to get. and I'm still not sure whether or not I want go sump or canisters. I'm thinking about getting a 210 made from custom aquariums. freshwater
This video is definitely at the top of the list. I've been waiting to have a bit more time and experience with my sump to get a good opinion on the topic. I'm ready though 😊💪
Pumping speed/distance, dose accuracy, motor/head life expectancy and minimum dosage are a few. After watching your video I really interested in this but it's a hard sell compared to the ReefDose without proper specs to compare them.@@KaveManAquatics
Do you know if I can hook up a primary to a primary. I went out and bought a primary and two secondary after watch your video. But now a buddy is offering me his primary for cheap
Hey Kevin I have a lot of respect for you not just for the fish hobby but for your military service my question to you is why the real plants and go threw all that product if you do 80%water changes twice a month on the 450 your nitrates are probably very low from the massive amount of water changes you keep up with plus dosing that much product to regular people who are not provided seachem products will get very expensive I’m not insulting you I love the video just a curious question like I said I respect what you do for the hobby and I love the Docer pump set up
Water changing is about more than just nitrate reduction! While there are real plants in this tank it's no where near what would be needed to have any significant impact on nitrates. Thats why this tank still needs water changes on a regular schedule. The double edged sword is that while the tank isnt heavily stocked so it doesnt produce many nitrates, it also has discus which prefer to stay in very low nitrates. I cant ever keep them "very low" in this tank but I settled on a 2 week water change. That may get adjusted to less or more in the future after the tank has time to mature, it's final amount of stock, and its final amount of live plants. The products I use to dose the plants are used regardless of water change, If you want your plants to thrive. The great thing about the doser is that it can be set to a very low amount spread throughout the week because the tank is so lightly stocked with plants. Do you NEED a doser? Of course not, thats why I said that in the beginning of the video. It's an optional expense to make your life easier. Weather I get the products from Seachem or not doesnt change the fact that plants need nutrients and that I didnt want to deal with remembering what to dose all the time. I only promote what I actually use in my tanks, Seachem sponsor or not. There are plenty of Seachem products on the market you'll never see me promote, not because they arent any good, but because I dont use them. Thats how I choose to work with a sponsor. Unlike others that will just feed you what their sponsor wants to sell at the moment. But, It also doesnt change the fact that this lifestyle is expensive. And the bigger you go, heavier stock, more expensive fish, expensive plants, expensive equipment....you know where Im going..... If you're worried about the expense of having to buy nutrients for your plants you've started down the wrong path long time ago. This is all about how much you want to spoil your fish. One keeper may do the bare minimum to keep fish alive while another makes sure his fish are thriving! Neither is wrong. Keep your fish and tanks how ever you feel comfortable and dont let anyone tell you otherwise. What I do here on this channel is simply show how I keep my fish, doesnt mean its the only way.
@@KaveManAquatics true enough it just looks like a lot of hassle for little reward but if live plants are you thing all the power to you also getting stuff for free from seachem I think is awesome I was just thinking about your average fish keeper you could also install a co2 system were it leaks out a small amount of co2 into the water colum I don’t know how much that is boo don’t mess with live plants like I said kev I respect you as a person and knowagle of fish keeping I also never said you we’re pushing anything unfortunately you got weird and defensive I never seen you push a product and I liked that about you I was just thinking about average people on a budget but you do you kev the other thing about nitrates do you really know the actual amount of love plants you would need to reduce nitrates in your water or size or maybe type of plants that would take out more or less nitrates than others if so that’s amazing because I know a really good nitrate reactor can completely get ride if nitrates all together and yes when doing water changes adds back in minerals in the water so does seachem trace once a week👍oh ya merry Christmas
Kevin. Just a warning to make sure you allowed air to get into you supplement jugs. It was hard to tell from the video put it looked like you might have made holes in the caps just big enough for the lines to make it in. If they are too tight then air can’t get in and the pump will have trouble pumping supplement out. I had this issue. You either need to make sure the holes are a little bigger than you need or make a 2nd small hole to allow air in.
Good video brother. IMO, you dont need to dose Flourish everyday as you have limited plants and I believe they are Java Ferns which are not demanding. It will also cause alage to grow as these extra nutrients are not consumed by plants. This is my experience, you can research about it and figure out a right dosage.
Yes you’re right. The doser is set to daily, but it’s only a fraction of what’s required on a weekly bases. So it’s just spreading out the weekly amount daily 😁
