@@JTGemini3 I know lots of people complain about the caricature of Billy, but I think he is leagues ahead of his contemporaries at his prime, both as a musician and song writer
Billy destroyed the whole grunge scene by using the very exact power chords in such an unique way, imho! After MCIS he scorched the earth! Genius in the 90s. Sadly so bad right now.... I miss the real Smashing Pumpkins. This is coming from a die hard Nirvana fan...
The pumpkins took a lot of shit and they were up there with any band ever. Pink Floyd, Pavement, Radiohead, Soundgarden, maybe better. Siamese Dream was a masterpiece.
Legend has it The hole is still there on the Fillmore stage that Billy stomped his pedal straight thru the stage going into the solo of this very song.
Siamese Dream was one of those albums from the 90's that was just so perfect, it will live forever for many of us. Soundtrack of my youth. Brings me back.
Around 4:27 especially!! Just as the camera starts to pan out, the enormous wall of sound and illuminating light that radiates from her is breathtaking.
I am a Smashing Pumpkins fan since about the early nineties, not knowing every track, like this. I heard this about a month ago and I am amazed totally. Being 44 it is never too late. And the drummer explodes. (Sorry for my English.)
@Gergely Fliegauf it's Kool u Just found this Awesome video/song just 1 out of many Pumpkin songs that are just mad kool and better than their Hits imo...Rock on dude!! 🎸🥁👍
I’m in the same boat: 38 and dumbfounded that I’ve never known about this song until now. I’ve watched this concert numerous times now, and this song always grabs my soul. I’m currently trying to make my wife a SP convert. My kids, well, they have no choice in that matter. Haha
This show is a couple weeks after Cobain died. Anyway, great stuff. Im surprised they had so many guitar effects even back then, reverse delay and stuff. Pumpkins always knew just the right blend of effects and dynamics. Great writing and unique vocal tone.
oh yeah, most guitar effects were designed back in the 60s... people being brave enough to utilize them live was the question (even back in the 90s, computer-controlled effect boards were commonplace, and billy used one constantly)
@@rhuttonaa247 Double album my friend. lol I think it was probably the greatest rock album in history since about 1960 and the start of rock 'n roll with Chuck Berry, Little Richard and of course Elvis Presley. There is not one single weak track on that double album and that is an astounding achievement. I only regret they farted around with Mellon Collie spelling, lol, should have been Melancholy, the real spelling. The album is so utterly nihilistic and real, why mess with the title Billy? A fruit and a dog? What were you thinking Mr. Corgan?
sound tech most likely. nothing more peculiar than that. i guess you haven't been to many live shows because it is not uncommon to see that once in a while.
Nothing left to say And all I've left to do Is run away From you She led me on, down With secrets I can't keep Close your eyes and sleep Don't wait up for me Hush now don't you speak To me Wrapped my hurt in you And took my shelter in that pain The opiate of blame Is your broken heart, your heart So now I'm all by myself As I've always felt I'll betray my tears To anyone caught in our ruse of fools One last kiss from me yeah One last kiss good night Didn't want to lose you once again Didn't want to be your friend Fulfilled a promise made of tin Crawled back to you I'm all by myself (close your eyes) As I've always felt ? I'll betray myself To anyone, lost, anyone but you So let the sadness come again On that you can depend on me, yeah Until the bitter, bitter end of the world, yeah When god sleeps in bliss And I'm all by myself As I've always felt And I'll betray myself To anyone
+Kingbillythe3rd yeah but its not the same as being there. it's a desire to be in the time, in the energy, to be in the crowd who feels, loves and adores the same moment as you. theres a difference between seeing and feeling.
This song made me think that people in New York still don't care all that much about California wines, if at all, and rightly so. They're still drinking French wines. And I think that connects to why I feel and sense it's still my favourite city.
There's a hard alcohol bottle in my profile picture for a reason! A significant amount of the music in my collection came as a gift from Jon Poneman, mentioned in a Smashing Pumpkins documentary. From my profile picture, one might connect it to "indie record much cooler than mine". One is Damien Jurado's Ghost of David.@@kristopherryanwatson
There is no stereo that can play this loud enough. As I have always felt.
I’ve always thought the same thing
i third this.
...i like what you did there.
THIS!!
The mix on this album is annoyingly low. I sincerely hope this gets fixed one day
You’re goddamn right 😎🤙🏼
best song on Siamese and one of the best in pumpkins discography... haunting and dramatic pure emotion! genius songwriting.
And then the camera man zooms in on the bass player during one of the best guitar solos of all time. 😂
Listened to this since I was a young teen, and identify with it still. It always holds its own
Hummer is a masterpiece too
@@spiritoftime8464 agreed
i agree
Their music was so unique at that time that that no one could even copy them. That makes them absolutely extraordinary. Then and now and in the future.
Billy Corgan is a genius, I don’t care what anyone says.
no one cody copy them even today

Jimmy Chamberlain is so damn epic.
I’m old enough to have heard plenty of bands but the raw sound and energy of the 90’s live stuff is absolutely brilliant, unbeatable

Billy snapped his string before the solo and still it pulled so well
Then he grabbed another guitar and it wasn’t working
So fitting too, since he wrecked his guitar during the studio recording of that solo as well.
Such a nice young man. Wearing a collared shirt when out in public.
lol heheheeh. Niice
jesus those sustained bends during the solo 👌
Billie has always had amazing pedal effects that amplify the intensity of the lyrics and song. Wonderful!
This song burns the souls fuel. Thank you Billy. Siamese Dream was one of the albums that shaped my mental landscape.
Mu too. Hey me estas loko ese nunca se me ocurrió pero es igual para mi
Corgan such an underrated guitarist and musician. Much love to him and the Pumpkins always and forever.
I do not believe he is underrated.
I meant he is underrated as a guitarist not as a musician and frontman. @@bfpierce
I'm still haunted by this song and by the solo to this day.
This song got me through a tough spot once.
what was it?
No medicine man has concocted can heal the soul the way music can. ❤️🎼
same.
nice to actually hear d‘arcy sing. and her bass playing is top notch.
You're right, its Linda strange
❤❤❤
Low standards
The fucking solo is not of this world. Endless, twisting of the knife.
d'arcy is just beautiful

she's the ultimate goddess...billy's pure genius...james is way underrated e needs more recognition
My favorite Pumpkins song. 💔

No offence, but if you didn't know this song then you're not a Pumpkins fan. It's like saying you're a Hendrix fan but have never heard Voodoo Chile.
the guitar solo is like a alien come to earth and plays it.
this and Cherub rock are the definitive SP songs for me - ethereal driving energy with that incredible off world solo that rips open your soul
literally just shed a tear listening to this. Gave me a feeling of sentimentality and nostalgia
Absolutely some of the coolest and greatest guitar tones ever were on this album.
The guitar is insane it has become one of my favorite pumpkin songs recently
How I love to come back to my 20’s….
Great guitar solo in this song
When they were big and soaked all my teenage sadness

I saw them the day Cobain died.
I can't believe they opened the show with this song
Yeah it’s insane
The band in its prime. Look at D'arcy. God damn. Chamberlin hasn't changed a bit. Billy with hair !!
what a great song
I was there spring of 94 San Fran 17 years old not a care in the world only traveling seeing shows!!! 🤘👊🤘
I've always felt that this was peak band era.
This song nuzzles into my heart.
And thank you for titling it THE Smashing Pumpkins.
I remember playing this song on the jukebox in bars in the 90s. This was always my favorite tune by them.
One of my favorite songs of all time!
Siamese Dream era was their best.
eaaaasily Gish to Siamese dream after that he got to experimental and got away from these more 60ish melodies

Fkng EPIC!!🤯
2:30 billy strums the wrong chord and then hits the next chord aggressively out of anger lol
I think D'arcy play the wrong note!
I'm glad I got to see these guys in the 90s.
F.... Brilliant
i kept this video recording tape for years until i found it on youtube. its a treasure.
lol D'arcy at 4:52 like, wtf is with this dude running back and forth behind us?
sound tech most likely. nothing more peculiar than that.

Kristopher Ryan more like every damn show I’ve been to lmao🤣
Chord flub at 2:30.
Woody!
could be here all day ty
The energy!!!!! Wow
i always turn to this recording as opposed to the original because of that bit before the distortion. i love it
I love 💕 every song they sound so good 👍 they rock everytime!!!!
a wonderful upload. Yessssss :-)
This always brings me back to 1996 when I saw SP in Cascais/Portugal. So beautiful.
A highlight and a milestone in my puberty
I would have lost my shit in that crowd back then. Especially during that solo. SIIIIIIIIIICK
the tension waiting for the solo to start.
thanks for not zooming in during the solo camera jack wagon
i’ll never get over his voice, beautiful!
love this song love this band...d arcy i love youuuuuu ;D
Best break up song ever! And that's really saying something
This track is beautifully haunting. Makes me feel weird but good. What a great year with utereo too
An epic guitar solo
This is my life in 1994 frozen in a song forever
The vocal back and forth by Billy and D'Arcy from 3:58-4:22 is incredible, her voice always complimented his so well.
Nothing left to say
And all I've left to do
Is run away
From you
She led me on, down
With secrets I can't keep
Close your eyes and sleep
Don't wait up for me
Hush now don't you speak
To me
Wrapped my hurt in you
And took my shelter in that pain
The opiate of blame
Is your broken heart, your heart
So now I'm all by myself
As I've always felt
I'll betray my tears
To anyone caught in our ruse of fools
One last kiss from me yeah
One last kiss good night
Didn't want to lose you once again
Didn't want to be your friend
Fulfilled a promise made of tin
Crawled back to you
I'm all by myself (close your eyes)
As I've always felt
?
I'll betray myself
To anyone, lost, anyone but you
So let the sadness come again
On that you can depend on me, yeah
Until the bitter, bitter end of the world, yeah
When god sleeps in bliss
And I'm all by myself
As I've always felt
And I'll betray myself
To anyone
....to anyone
? = Don't wait up for me (maybe?)
Best smashing pumkpins song imo

Wonderful to remember a time when everyone didn’t have cell phones in the air blocking your view.
Digging deep on that one
3:03 Check out darcy! she got the finger on the button. the 1note tremolo. she got skillz
Shit. That beautiful solo was STEPPED on.
Jimmy back there dropping tom bombs
The best version they play of this was on their viewphoria video filmed in london.
yup. solid performance. but i like Billy's solo here. He didn't seem to use any effects during that solo on Viuphoria...it didn't seem like it.
Love the 90s stuff. Sadly most of the 90s bands were not that good live but SP was the exception. Fantastic live band!!!
Owh that Snare is Phat Thicc!
God I love em! #jimmybeast

how does billy get that backwards guitar sounding effect before the distortion kicks in?
Fuckin heavy shit!!! Especially looking back on so many decades now, still so raw and real.....
