Palace looked more disciplined than what we did. The inconsistency of our team is frustrating!
It’s an age long Newcastle United problem-we play too relaxed against the lower table sides. All the time.
That's not totally true as we beat the same team 4-0 in October and absolutely battered them. We're just generally very inconsistent against everyone this season, but we know why, it will get better 👍
Eddie is to the fans what longstaff is to Eddie
A lot of fans got carried away after the Spurs win hailing a Howe masterclass!
Howe only gets results against the better sides in the league because they come to play football and he can counter attack them.
Howe has struggled from day one at Newcastle against the leagues so-called lesser lights because he hasn't got a clue when it comes to breaking down stubborn teams who sit in with two banks of four.
Look at the points thrown away at home last season due to this very thing and it has carried on into this season, hence few wins against the bottom sides!
I still have huge reservations about Howe's long term future at the club because he will always be a one trick pony!

Eddie should have made the changes,Tino and Hall on. Eddie is not an elite manager. He keeps his favourites on and doesn't change when needed.

Longstaff = Garbage
The perfect opportunity to pretty much seal a European place with others dropping points. Now we're right back in the mix again. It's like we went there for a point, and once the 1st went in, we never looked like coming back. Credit to Palace, they outplayed us
Inconsistency is our identity
Baffling how we can have over a week off yet were still so off the pace. Looked powder puff all over the pitch from start to finish in reality. The result isn't good enough, but it was the performance that really grinder my gears. A great opportunity to finish above Man U will be gone if we're not careful, and I don't think we've had a better chance as we do this season.
Eddie should have smashed Palace with attacking players like Tino and Lewis Hall, but he chose his favourites again. Eddie is not an elite manager 🤔
I’m concerned how Eddie Howe said we can’t finish in the top 6. Only 3 points off and we have a game against Man United. What kind of mentality is that?!
we can handle a loss , but not with that sort of performance .
Once the Saudi bounce, hype around Howe starts evaporating you are left with a plateauing and levelling out that leaves a very bang average operator at the end of things!
I am not saying Howe should be sacked deserving another crack if he delivers a European spot but this indifference from Newcastle will be commonplace with Howe at the helm!
We should have an end of season report on the multiple instances of incorrect foresight with team performance this season and his reactionary subs when we go behind. I honestly think if we miss europe due to our inconsistency this season Eddie will be gone pif don’t settle for ineptitude.
On one hand you have to give Crystal Palace massive credit for the way they ran rings around us, and we just couldn't cope but on the other hand the defensive set up is all on Eddie. You can't expect the same disjointed back line that played really well against Spurs to just rock up at Selhurst Park and do the same because Palace are a completely different opposition with different threats. We could've started Hall a natural LB with Burn & Schar both in their natural CB positions with Krafth in his natural RB position, he then could've been swapped out for Tino at some point with him and Hall on either side giving us so much more solidity and creativity on transitions, and that way Murphy could've been an impact sub instead of a bloody RB! Murphy RB with Krafth CB was a recipe for disaster
It’s going to be a very deflated start to next season. Cannot see Bruno or Isak tolerating playing with the dross players we keep defending. No killer instinct from the team or the manager

We are just crap. Shocking decision making. Barnes could have passed properly to Gordon but he tried a back heel flick under no pressure. Absolute bastard of a decision and he lost the ball. Isak was feeding off scraps 1st half and 2nd half he made a string of bad decisions. I can not stand why we complicate simple passes. Make the straight forward pass quickly and move in position. We tried stupid risky passes and we lose the ball. We wait for players to make non-existing runs into non-existing space and then we lump it somewhere and we lose the ball. The manager deserves sacking. Our away record will get any manager at a top club sacked. Maybe the owners accept mediocrity? The season is done. Stuffing SU won't solve the underlying problem. The manager is out of his depth and unable to get his players to play properly. Longstaff needs to go on vacation.
This is not just a bad day in the office! It has been happening all season long. When there is something on the line, the team just folds like a cheap chair.

I said well before this fixture we will be lucky to get a draw out of this game if we are lucky. This was going to be a tough game, the better team won. Lets move on.
Horrible day at the office the one big thing Howe has to learn is changing formation is not weak or admitting defeat every top team does it! I am begging for a proper holding midfielder someone like young Matic we need presence! To lose out to United would be gutting because they are so poor

Our 2nd game in 11 days palaces 3rd in 10 days 2nd in 4days yet it was palace who had all the energy we just didn't turn up with no energy it was as though we thought we could just turn up and win which is worrying we need to work hard and grind results out when we are poor but that didn't even happened it was so poor on all fronts

Take last season out of the equation. This would've been our best season in nearly 20 years.
I think we had a plan, but the players I dont think implemented it well, as most of them where shocking, sloppy passing, no hunger, no desire, EH seems to have ideas but not sure they always work or we have the quality to implement. I do think the injuries have had an impact on him also so looking forward to a good summer of some signings to give us depth and lets see next season
there is a saying when something is giving results you keep going the same way, but this is football, your opponents are following and examining your previous games...you cant go with the same game plan as before!!! even the players attitude werent where it should be. whenever you expect newcastle to deliver you get the exact opposite!
Eddie was recruited to keep a demoralised club and poor quality under invested team up. That's his cv and he did that. He had a great second season because he never got an injury, same team played every week and the usual top 4/6 clubs all had a stinker at the same time. He was never recruited for a champions league campaign, to challenge for Europe or work with £100 million players.
Tbh i’m getting sick of Eddie Howe not picking his best team. How mamy times this season does he sit back & watch everything burn.
Then we go one down (and only when its the 60 min or more) then he makes his weird subsitutions.
I’m not saying Howe out yet but he does nothing game after game after game. Its frustrating the life out of me now.

Better team won at the end of the day and agree palace look really good under new manager. We should be going for Eze he looks amazing player but our performance wasn't great all around as soon as i had seen the defence for me it looked very weak. Tottenham and Palace are two completely different teams and he got it wrong simple as, but nothing you can do and hope we can get the 3 points on the weekend.
We where disconnected from start to finish 2nd to every ball, no desire no energy no commitment.
Its a wake up call yet again for Eddy , he must drop Sean play Hall and Tino for the next 5 games = Wilson is not the answer at all

For me this game really missed the crosses from the right wing that would primarily be from Trippier. Murphy was out position a lot and we kept on clearing the ball to absolutely no-one. This certainly needs addressing ASAP. Howay the Toon

It looked like we were playing against Man City on a good day last night. Out classed in every single area of the pitch for 99% of the match. It was scary how easy it was for them.
We had almost 2 weeks off, and still couldn’t come into the game fresh and ready to go! I don’t understand how we can go to spurs and absolutely smother them, but against palace we basically roll over and allow them to fist us… it’s Europe on the line man, these boys need to get their shit together and find some

We definitely underestimated palace with that formation and personnel. Howe should have made a change at the 1/2 way mark at least to solidify the defence even it meant changing formation but continued to persist with those tactics until they eventually scored. Most could have predicted that based on the performance up until then

I’m not interested in the players contracts or what they promise because these players say they want competition then can’t handle it because of injuries etc. so what is the point qualifying for Europe ? Wake me up when they win something sick of the bull shit stories - I think I will be sleeping a long time! If Bruno does go that’s the finish for me.
We keep having these same terrible games. You know we'll lose when from the kick off the team can't mantain possesion. Maybe it's a players issue, or maybe training.

To be an elite side you need a squad littered with elite players, we have a few and that’s it, it will take a long time to reach the top

Sometimes having those games keeps the sharpness. We could have done without the break. Tactics, player understanding etc was awful. Burns done that a few times this season. I think realistically, we need to win all remaining matches. Can't defend Longstaff by saying he's been playing with injury etc cos everyone slated Botman for playing through injury etc same as some others who came back too soon etc. What applies to ons, applies to them all. For me, Longstaff, Dubs, Miggy, Wilson and Willock to go and even Murphy if an offer came in. I get Miggy and Murphy probably couldn't go in same window but I think it's time to move on n get some fresh faces and ideas

Why we weren't ready for Champions League level of football; are we even ready for Europa League?? We need 8 player switches. BUT what we forget is this: The players that know they won't stay in this team, should they actually feel like giving 100%? I know they get well paid but they're still human with human emotions. I said on the match preview it was going to be a hard game, Palace are a decent team and I had them down for a draw. Hope this is another one off performance, however some of the players are simply not good enough.

It's Eddies job to get the players motivated and at it for every game. He has failed miserable to do this all season away from home. Away from home we are soft touch, it's been way to easy for to many teams. Why Eddy continues to pick Sean Longstaff is beyond me, he is not good enough, why Eddy keeps dropping Lewis Hall is beyond me. Eddy is totally inept when it comes to tactical nous. So many of Eddies decisions this season have been beyond belief. We need to upgrade the manager in the summer, we cannot go through another season with such piss poor decisions from the manager. Again this is Eddies team, he has spent £400 million quid, yes we have injuries but so many times away from home we looked sacred, sit back and pray for a lucky counter attack. For £400 million we should be giving every team in the PL a hard game.

The tactics were wrong, the players knew it, we knew it but Eddie didn't. Man for man we are miles ahead of Palace however our inconsistency is our downfall. When good teams are having a bad day they dig in and grind out a result. Sadly, we are either great or shite at the moment.
