    As a young QB in the UK I am always looking to improve my football knowledge and this has helped me out developing my understanding of these concepts. I aim to go to college in a couple years and hopefully get a shot in America when I prove myself here so these videos are really aiding my growth off the field. Thanks

    A good idea for the flood concept, is instead of the bubble from the PS #3, would be to make that into a flat route or even a whip route. It didn't seem like much but in short yardage situations, since the bubble is primarily left open in most coverages, fast DBs tend to make plays on it, so we switched it to a flat and saw it was a free 4 to 5 yards and then some with a turn up the side line

    We can tag the back with a stay call that would put us in a 6 man protection in 2x2.

  • @Copromancer420
    @Copromancer420 10 лет назад +1

    Good piece! I like the philosphy of concepts. Do you have a adjustment for 6-man protection from 2x2? Or would you motion into a 2 back set to be able to pick up a strong/front side blitzer (or 6 man preassure)? Cause if you get in a 3rd and long a defence might be able to take advantage of that and force you to throw hot. Though they cant tell front/backside of te play in a balanced formation a 6 man rush would do. Has this been an issue?

  • @CoachMac
    @CoachMac  10 лет назад

    When you motion the back they can blitz the motion side, have to be able to screen away.

    Hey coach, love the video. Quick question you always number from outside in on playside correct? So if you were in a bunch set with Z at the point he would be the #2 so he would have the dig? And whoever was outside of him would be the #1 so the post?

  • @robtaylor8577

    LSU ran the exact shallow, corner, dig, post concept in 2019 with great success, usually with a tighter split from the shallow, corner side receivers

    Which route combination? Each combination is more effective vs certain coverages. In general any team that can be physical and re route our guys while applying pressure with 4 rushers gives us trouble. Effecting the timing and rhythm gives us a lot of problems.

    Don't know if I thanked you last time for answering my question about offensive blocking. If I hadn't I want to thank you now.
    I love your videos; the information is so clear that even a person who has never played can understand what you are talking about. Curious how would you handle an quick-out or arrow and a hitch on the same side. Would you play that as 2 Read or Man? Another question would be how would you handle a corner and post combination on the same side. How would prevent the DB's from running into each other?

    • @CoachMac
      @CoachMac  6 лет назад

      Who is running the Arrow?

    • @CoachMac
      @CoachMac  6 лет назад

      Defender closer to the ball has the right of way so the safety has to go over the top of the corner. Some schools have the corner come off on all outside routes of #2

    • @jameslightell13
      @jameslightell13 6 лет назад

      An A-back or a WR running the arrow, while a TE running a hitch. Offense is in a tight formation: TE in the back field while A is on the LOS.

    On your Shallow Concept, BS2 Runs a Corner out of 2x2. If you have collision on the Shallow, do you adjust and run the snag concept?

    • @CoachMac
      @CoachMac  7 лет назад

      We do not, we are trying to get the Shallow all the way across to the QB'S read side. Most of our concepts are primarily half field concepts. We only throw 6-10 DB Passes a game.

    • @keeganmantanona9027

      it all depends on the offense your team is going to run. its best just to learn the different routes that you need to know, as well as the numbers assigned to them.

  • @robertmosher7418
    @robertmosher7418 4 года назад

    Would it be easier to teach progression from boundary to field on this concept? Throw 5-0 on drive, Corner not in progression, 5-1 to dig, 5-2 to post, 5-3 to tailback on the check down? That way the QB does not have to worry about five or six protection or who is blitzing, he just reads to who is open and throws the ball?

    • @CoachMac
      @CoachMac  4 года назад

      That is definitely an option, thanks for the feedback

    • @CoachMac
      @CoachMac  4 года назад +1

      If you had him assigned to pick up a Playside inside LB or Playside OLB in blitz protection. I wouldnt be using that kind of protection in youth football, i would slide the whole line in one direction and put the backs opposite.

    Hey, Coach I have a question. I played QB and everytime I saw a man free look I always go vertical to beat the man to man coverage, now I am a coach and The question I have is what other Concepts could I use to beat man coverage in a trips and 2x2 look for my offense.

    • @garyhaynes8256
      @garyhaynes8256 7 лет назад

      Mesh, Stick/smash, Tail Back Wheel route or TE Seam

    • @ericjohnson4877
      @ericjohnson4877 7 лет назад +1

      Keep in mind in man coverage that there's no curl/flat defender. So you can run off the inside defender with a seam route by the #2 receiver and run either a curl or a comeback with the #1. Since it's man free, the CB has to stack on top of the #1 receiver's route stem regardless if he's playing press or not and maybe even give him a cushion depending on the speed matchup. If the #1 rcvr does a good job dropping his hips and chopping his feet to make a tight break, there should be a clean throwing window for the QB.
      Also, you can use rub releases by the receivers, possibly from a 2 receiver stack look or a 3 receiver bunch look.
      Have the outside receiver _on_ the LOS and the insider receiver _off_ the LOS, and have the inside rcvr rub underneath the other rcvr to the outside and into his route. (Called a *switch* release)
      or
      Have the inside receiver _on_ the LOS and outside receiver _off_ the LOS, and have the outside rcvr rub underneath the other rcvr to the inside and into his route. (Called a *slash* release)

      Hey, since you're coaching now here's something to consider:
      If you always use the same 6 man protection in a particular formation or family of formations, like for instance a single back set that's either 2x2 or trips, and if the defense puts 7 in the box against that 6 man protection, it's a safe bet someone in the protection will have a dual read. If an offense always dual reads the same two defenders, an astute defensive coordinator may send those two defenders to trigger a hot throw. Now if the defense knows who the hot throw is going to and what the route is because it's always the same, they can also set up a trap coverage where someone is lying in wait to jump into the throwing lane, and it could be a pick 6. This is typically done with a fire zone (zone blitz).
      My point is it can be a deterrent for the defense if sometimes you dual read from the "Mike" to the call side LB, and other times you dual read from the "Mike" to the LB away from the call side. Also, it can be helpful for a QB to mix up who has the built-in hot route, the #1 receiver, or the #2 receiver, or the #3 receiver, and what the route is.
      Didn't know if any of this had crossed your mind or not, hope it's useful somehow.

      Thomas MacPherson I feel you. How many passing concepts do you have installed? I just graduated high school, from Spanish Fort high school in Alabama. I’ve been part of 2 state championships and the only times we didn’t win was bc our qb got hurt. But anyway I really wanna get into coaching, I watch soo many coaching clinics and I just enjoy
