Out of everyone on the show I relate to Gideon the most. I’m a man of few words that has a hard time with opening up and loosing loved ones. Can’t blame him for leaving when he did and why.
even though Gideon was killed off while privately working on a case, I'd like to think this serves as his happy ending. after all, his work on it led to the capture of that criminal.
The reason why the team stayed together is because Hotch and Prentiss decided to return to keep the team together. Rossi was later called out of retirement to fill in for Gideon and there was unsolved cases Rossi wanted to work on.
Such a great character. The way he was portrayed, written and shown, it all clicked. I keep coming back to this character. I keep associating Criminal Minds and I’m just waiting on the next mention or reference to him on the show. I wished they’d talk more about Rossi and Aaron’s history with him. Wonder if they will use him in the final season. I’m so sick of the never ending case fillers. The world building is a lot more important to me at this point. Series shouldn’t be so formulaic.
I wish that goddamn Jason Gideon would’ve stayed for much longer on Criminal Minds instead of leaving as well. Look again long time ago in 2007 Gideon’s girlfriend Sarah Jacobs who was killed by the unsub Frank Breitkopf who pretended to be Jason Gideon in the apartment which was completely scary during that time. And in 8 years time in 2015 Gideon was shot dead by a home intruder Donnie Mallick at night in Gideon’s cabin which was horrible too. Jason Gideon who is a legend and the best agent of the BAU, and Gideon should never deserve to be killed by a home intruder and never leave the BAU in that way.
He filmed this but nobody knew he was leaving: He just no showed at the beginning of season 3. He never filmed a goodbye. They just used this as him leaving but he never gave notice
He did film this and his voice over for the first two episodes, but I think I read he didn't even do it with the regular criminal minds crew, and you're right that he never gave a word to his fellow cast
The reason why is because a lot of fans really wanted him back for a guest appearance but his actor didn't want to return to the show, given that he had grown increasingly uncomfortable with the visceral content of it, hence his decision to leave after season two.
i would love to see this guy return just for one episode, like if the team had a really hard case and hotch would at some point have gotten gideons address or something and he comes in to help just for one episode. would be so awesome
Mandy Patinkin regretted joining the show, he said, and I quote. "I don't care whether I'm playing Hamlet or Gideon in "Criminal Minds," I go about it the same way. And 16 hours a day, nine-and-a-half months of the year, was destroying my heart and soul. It was very, very destructive to me and made me very sad" Second quote: "There's 48 episodes and they're re-running them all over the world nonstop. Yes, I get paid for it, I'm glad I got the money, I'm not gonna lie about it. But I'm not proud of it, and I needed to leave to save my life" I agree, I wish he would come back for an episode, that would be awesome. It would give Reid more closure on why Gideon left in the first place. Hopefully, Mandy, will reach out of his comfort zone and just do one episode, but the odds of something like that happening, is like throwing a needle into a pile of needles and then trying to find the original one you've thrown, Lol.
Kythira Gaming Actually he mentions two reasons for leaving the show. The reason you mention, was just his excuse, that the show was "too dark" for him. But it was not the main reason. The first reason was the REAL reason. It was about the money. He wanted more. He didn't get it. He left. Below are his own words at an interview on why he left the show: "The mistake was my fear. I was always worried about MONEY, which I'd never in my whole career have ever had to worry about. But I was brought up to worry about it even if you don't have to worry about it. (Rosenbaum laughs) And I guess that 's what runs greed all over the world. No matter how much is enough IT'S NEVER ENOUGH so let's keep worrying and worrying and worrying and making all kinds of mistakes because of it. And I certainly made mine. That was part of the mistake."
It's so sad that Gideon left the show after a measly 2 seasons. I miss him. Rossi is good, but I really liked Gideon, mainly because he was played by Mandy Patinkin, the same actor who played Huxley in Elmo in Grouchland, a movie of my childhood. I actually met Mandy Patinkin personally, and it was amazing!
Sarah's death at Breikofpt's hands. Reid's kidnapping and torture at Tobias Hankle's hands and then his subsequent drug addiction as a result. Hotch getting scapegoated by Strauss. Feeling guilty about all those things. It was too much for him.
Bruhh before i saw this I thought gideon was about to kill himself and that was his suicide note but at first i was like “theres no way he would do that” thankfully he didn’t and he just left the BAU
I've been watching the first two seasons of the show since last month. I really love it. I saw this episode yesterday evening, I'm so sad Gideon quit... Can't believe he won't be there anymore :(( I feel like an orphan lol. I know he's just a character but I don't know why it's difficult to see him leaving and never coming back.
Just finished this episode recently and after re watching Gideons character again in both seasons i wished mandy stayed on the show, really liked his character and how he was portrayed. Rossi is a good character too but i dunno feel like there was more with gideon that just made you feel more
In “Nelson’s Sparrow”, Gideon might’ve found a new lead on Donnie Mallick and I think he would’ve tried to contact his old team but he died before he could tell his team anything about Mallick’s motives and Spencer was devastated over losing Gideon.
In season 10, he is killed (off-screen) by a suspect he had tracked down from one of his first cases. But he was mentioned several times in the last seasons
I miss giden he way better than. Rossi. I don’t get how people say Gideon was not a team player getting was a team player he was always there for his teammates when he really needed it and after getting left the team just wasn’t the same Gideon was just the best
I was so sad the Gideon left... He was really the closest thing to a father figure to Reid... I understand the actor couldn't take doing this show because of its genre, but man what an imprint he left. I'm so glad the show still makes references to him.

i would love to see this guy return just for one episode, like if the team had a really hard case and hotch would at some point have gotten gideons address or something and he comes in to help just for one episode. would be so awesome
It was very, very destructive to me and made me very sad"
Second quote: "There's 48 episodes and they're re-running them all over the world nonstop. Yes, I get paid for it, I'm glad I got the money, I'm not gonna lie about it. But I'm not proud of it, and I needed to leave to save my life"
I agree, I wish he would come back for an episode, that would be awesome.
It would give Reid more closure on why Gideon left in the first place.
Hopefully, Mandy, will reach out of his comfort zone and just do one episode, but the odds of something like that happening, is like throwing a needle into a pile of needles and then trying to find the original one you've thrown, Lol.
Kythira Gaming its been confirmed that ben savage will play a younger version of gideon sometime later on
Kythira Gaming Actually he mentions two reasons for leaving the show. The reason you mention, was just his excuse, that the show was "too dark" for him. But it was not the main reason.
The first reason was the REAL reason. It was about the money. He wanted more. He didn't get it. He left. Below are his own words at an interview on why he left the show:
"The mistake was my fear. I was always worried about MONEY, which I'd never in my whole career have ever had to worry about. But I was brought up to worry about it even if you don't have to worry about it. (Rosenbaum laughs)
And I guess that 's what runs greed all over the world. No matter how much is enough IT'S NEVER ENOUGH so let's keep worrying and worrying and worrying and making all kinds of mistakes because of it. And I certainly made mine. That was part of the mistake."
This music is called broken by life house
I will always miss you Gideon you are truly the best profiler ever
It's so sad that Gideon left the show after a measly 2 seasons. I miss him. Rossi is good, but I really liked Gideon, mainly because he was played by Mandy Patinkin, the same actor who played Huxley in Elmo in Grouchland, a movie of my childhood. I actually met Mandy Patinkin personally, and it was amazing!
@lucky15gohabsgo A good tip to finding a song is to google part of the lyrics. Or read through the comments. The song is 'Broken' by Lifehouse
That is how I find a song
Another option is go to tunefind.com.
first elle, now him 😭😭 i miss those two so much
I just want him to make a reappearance like it’s a case so big that they need Gideon
Monse Lopez you do know Gideon was killed off years ago right?
SG1Mitchell yeah ☹️ lmao it’s something i would want to happen
Sarah's death at Breikofpt's hands. Reid's kidnapping and torture at Tobias Hankle's hands and then his subsequent drug addiction as a result. Hotch getting scapegoated by Strauss. Feeling guilty about all those things. It was too much for him.
☹️☹️ I miss Gideon bro low key best freaking agent he made this show so god damn interesting for me especially episode one
I remember seeing this for the first time, I didn't want Hotch I wanted Gideon, then I didn't want Emily I wanted Hotch!
Gideon...i miss him so!!! He is Criminal Minds! Forever!
I agree Jason Gideon is my favorite he should come back in season eight.
Long live Agent Gideon🙏🏽
This was a great way for him to go..
Yeah except they killed him later 🥺😔
gideon was the best !! don´t leave us! come back!!!! :,(
Just finished this episode recently and after re watching Gideons character again in both seasons i wished mandy stayed on the show, really liked his character and how he was portrayed. Rossi is a good character too but i dunno feel like there was more with gideon that just made you feel more
Oh I'm glad I'm not the only one. I was bawling like a baby.
pouring tears rn
This will make you cry even more

“The belief in happy endings” *gets murdered*
One of best scenes ever
please, return to BAU Gidion...
They killed him off.
They killed off Gideon offscreen in Nelson's Sparrow in Season 10 episode 13. It's sad episode.
Benjamin Nataniel Binc Thompson it was really sad I cried.
In “Nelson’s Sparrow”, Gideon might’ve found a new lead on Donnie Mallick and I think he would’ve tried to contact his old team but he died before he could tell his team anything about Mallick’s motives and Spencer was devastated over losing Gideon.
LIfehouse (Broken) in the background. Oh god, the nostalgia.
Yesss♥️♥️♥️
I miss him in Criminal Minds!
holy crap! i didn't notice this but that cafe he was in is in the show season 10 (11?) episode Outlaw in the very beginning.
Does anyone know the filming location of the diner Jason is at near the end of this scene? I've seen it referred to as a Nevada diner...
The halfway house Cafe on the Sierra highway near Santa Clarita California
@@SG1Mitchell Yup! I actually just found it myself with some more googling haha. But thanks!
i'm not crying your crying😢
That moment when you realize agent gideon is also Inigo Montoya
I just noticed that Sierra highway he was heading down going to Palmdale
"My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die"
my top 2, Gideon and Hotch, it will never be the same unless they pair up:(
Sadly he was never seen again. He was mentioned though
In season 10, he is killed (off-screen) by a suspect he had tracked down from one of his first cases. But he was mentioned several times in the last seasons
does anybody know what car spencer is driving in that scene?
@auyongjin 'Broken' by Lifehouse. A great way to find a song you don't know is to google the lyrics
Now they can shazam it
I cried. Gideon's like a father to me! Dx I was all, "No! Daddy! Come back!" And then like I cried more.
Same here.
I miss giden he way better than. Rossi. I don’t get how people say Gideon was not a team player getting was a team player he was always there for his teammates when he really needed it and after getting left the team just wasn’t the same Gideon was just the best
(Inhale)
WHYYYYYYYYYYYYY?!!!!!!!!!!!!
I miss Gideon :((
This scene is beautiful
I loved Rossi but damn there was something special about Gideon.
