I get the name of the attack is Conquest of the Sea, but it sounds like they are saying Hakei like Destroy/Destruction; I got really familiar with hearing that word after DBS's Universe Tournament.

I think he thought Zoro took the attack and then the attack dissipated, as in Zoro was a fist stopping another fist and the force's canceled each other out. What the anime is showing is Zoro took the attack and the attack sort of bended around the group, the energy wasn't being completely absorbed by Zoro or rather 'deflected' such as a fist being stopped by an open palm instead. That all being said, I don't think there's any reason to demote the feat, Zoro was the only one that moved up and he saved everyones lives in that moment, very impressive
