I love how Dan just stopped dead reading that first Edgeworth line as if to process if his Wrightworth-loving brain was subconsciously altering how he was perceiving the line.
That was exactly what I thought happened to Dan. 😂😂😂
I do appreciate how the whole Edgeworth x Phoenix joke started off as a stupid bit but has now progressed into a full blown Game Grumps slash fic fantasy.
Same thing happened with the actual writers of the game! They apparently honestly didn’t see how in AA1 Phoenix and Miles could be read as complicated but romantic. They didn’t know until they’d search for fan feedback and learn wrightworth was incredibly popular! That’s why for the second entry, you have characters like what’s his face with the star makeup and Ron DeLite, their designs are based off of yaoi manga. It’s also why the second game treats Phoenix and Miles as “on a break”
Seriously, take away the game’s context and see their dialogue. Phoenix sounds like a dude who just went through a nasty breakup, and that was intentional!
(It’s also interesting Capcom collaborated with a jewelry company in Japan like a decade ago. They made a set of RINGS with designs based off Wrightworth. Apollo and his prosecutor have other pieces, but they gave Phoenix and his lover a set of rings! They’re not hiding how they lean into the ship!)
*breathes heavy*
ITS NOT STUPID!
I mean Phoenix and Edgeworth get shipped in the same way with the rest of the fanbase lmao
That’s honestly how most fan fiction starts I mean look at sonic and shadow that started as a joke too and look at all the sonic fan fiction that exists now they even acknowledge it in sonic boom with sonamy 😂
"unnecessary feelings"
"MAYBE YOU SHOULD BE STRIPPED NAKED" IS CRAZY. THAT WAS A CRAZY LINE.
FR I SPAT OUT MY DRINK WHEN I SAW THAT
I laughed really loudly my sister shut me up when i saw that line 😭😭😭
When I say I SCREAMED laughing. Bless the game writers for giving us this.
I was so sure the title was referring to some joke they were gonna make about shipping Phoenix and Edgeworth, so imagine my surprise when I read Edgeworth actually saying that shit
When I'm not looking directly at the screen, it's hard to tell what parts are legit script or parody 😂😂
edgeworth and phoenix are constanly one second away from leaping across the bench and making out passionately in the middle of the court room
if this game was made today they'd have named him goonsworth
I've read plenty of fanfic and seen plenty of fanart and it still feels less gay than the actual games
Two seconds away. The first second would be strangling the witness for playing around with the true killer's calling card the entire time.
@guidojacobs2002 true, as Edgeworth's priorities are the only thing straight about him
@@margotchaput3070 the only straight thing I'm CRYING thank you
"Maybe YOU should be stripped naked and run out for ma-"
**absolute silence**
I love how Dan was genuinely gobsmacked from that line
Does Miles Edgeworth is Gay?
@dnmstarsi I don't know does he?

De Killer: (Literally named De Killer)
Dan and Arin: Who could the murderer possibly be?
I think they forgot about him lol
At least they seem to finally realize at the end there.
Tbf it could be a red herring lol, I mean it's not their fault their parents named them that
The weirdest thing is them assuming that De Killer (the one forcing them to clear Matt's name) and Adrian Andrews (the one they think killed Juan), is the same person
@@psykodactyle oh its even better than that.
@@danielledhaliwal6478 I've actually played the games (on Dual Destinies now) but there's a reason this case is my favorite
the irony of phoenix saying that nobody in the world would miss the knife in juan's chest and dan and arin forgetting that arin himself completely missed the knife when they first saw the photo
I love seeing people process the "maybe YOU should be stripped naked" line in real time. Up there with Phoenix saying "yes, Daddy" that one time.
omg i hadn't heard of that line, that's insane i love it
When does he say that lmao
@@statementofjoespooky1660 It's in the Apollo Justice trilogy

"Pleading the fifth is not something most people would think to do on the spot!"
I literally work in a courtroom. Phoenix, people do this all the time.
Lol do you watch any of the Ace Attorney with a real lawyer playthroughs? Bet they're cathartic 😆 (savedata's is my fave, it's the longest running one so far)
Not in Japanifornia. Their courtroom allows assault on your defense attorneys and gay law and order.
Also like, they did the one thing you really shouldn't do if someone pleads the fifth: imply that means they're guilty lmao
@@dnmstarsi I will allow assault if it means gay law and order
@@Stratoscaster And it was the judge, no less. This is a kangaroo court. The kangarooest of courts.
"Maybe YOU should be stripped naked"
Who the fuck starts a conversation like that? I just sat down!
A man still filled with "unnecessary feelings".
“Right in front of my salad?!”
I'm not gonna lie, having a defendant come back and be the actual killer in a different case would be a pretty baller move.
That would be neat...
The case ain't over until someone dramatically freaks the hell out over being proven a liar.
They gotta suddenly have a new animation that often dramatically changes what they look like lol
Oh we’re getting to that.
we're getting there, we'll meet them soon
The Phoenix Wright breakdowns are the best part of the series. The best one is the final trail of Apollo Justice.
Wright: Makes a solid, irrefutable line of reasoning about the murderer.
Adrian: "Nu-uh."
Judge: "Welp... my hands are tied."
The fact that there's a vilain in the investigations series that is literally that is so funny
@@kristophesiem5336 , do you mean the one at the end of Investigations? Or the one from the 5th case in the 1st game?
@@Hermititis the one at the end of investigations, yeah
Edgeworth: I have physical, tangential proof that you have done all of this illegal stuff and are involved with this other illegal stuff
Main baddie: Do you, tho?
Edgeworth: Oh my god he's right...
As a Spanish native speaker, the way Dan at 7:09 said “Juan es muy guapo” sounded more like “Juan es mi guapo” and that translates to “Juan is my handsome”, Which I find hilarious
I thought it was that too lol. I'm not a native speaker so I just thought "mi guapo" was maybe a term of endearment
- Wendy Oldbag
He is my strength
My dignity
And he is my handsome

It's him being New Jersey 40s again. That's a line from "The Beating of a High School Spanish Teacher" from Adam Sandler's _They're All Gonna Laugh at You._
@@Virjunior01 oh damn you're so right
THe fact that they would have missed this line if they answered correctly the first time is almost criminal.
It didn't seem like the case for that part of the video,
but perhaps the walkthrough/guide provided for them was like "MUST READ :
choose that option or you'll get a gameover.
Do not forget!"
The shot of the empty judge seat followed by a head-in-hands phoenix was actually pretty dark and harrowing
Arin is apparently forgetting that Phoenix, Pearl & Maya were with Will Powers the whole time between the ceremony & the hotel locking down because the body was discovered, so there was no opportunity for Will to be the murderer. 😔
yeah its so funny, because the real killer doesnt actually even matter
@@KarasuWaKotaeta , well, I didn't want to spoil anything, but you're right that...[spoiler]
...the person actually behind Juan's murder could have had an alibi and it wouldn't have changed anything.
Shhhh 🤫 let them forget. It’ll keep them off the trail of the real killer until the big surprise.
shhh let them suspect him. i want them to be so thrown off when the real murderer is revealed

Fucking hilarious. 😂
@@Wyatt_Brown I think that's the first time I've seen it do that
I'm surprised they missed Edgeworth telling Adrian he didn't care if she killed herself as long as she does it after the trial
They mistook it for a reference to the death penalty
They were too busy being dumb and injecting whatever humor they could into a fairly dark dialogue.
I don't know how they mistook it for the death penalty but they somehow did
Yeah, I was really looking forward to their reaction to that too. Ah, well. At least Pixel Partners gave a good reaction.
kinda frustrated about that. between that and basically forgetting about Maya, they're missing the whole atmosphere of the case. it's one of the most desperate points of Phoenix's career, he's pushing at the boundaries of his own ethics to try and protect his friend, and he's trying to make this case go the way the rest have but he _can't_
the main reason this case is so good is the emotional impact, imo. there's the great twist, of course, but I don't think it'd have had the same impact on me if I wasn't so emotionally invested in trying to save Maya
I know they have a comedy show to do, but Adrian is one of the best non-main characters, and seeing her break made me feel awful when I played the first time
Kinda surprised they didn't catch that Adrian was talking about killing herself, not the death penalty
genuinely frustrating and weird as they made jokes over it and about it
to be fair though, they also have the death penalty
Even using the walkthrough, fate ensured that the Grumps would still make that one mistake in order to deliver us the most important line in the whole case.
If you think about it, guides are kind of like tutorials telling you how to play the game, so it's no surprise Arin's still making mistakes. Love Game Grumps, but they definitely have blind spots when it comes to following instructions and following logic in a narrative-based mystery game. Makes sense, cus they're doing a show.
Love how they completely forgot De Killer exists in this episode.
Phoenix: There was a knife sticking out of his chest! ANYONE would've seen that!!
Arin back when he first saw the photo: Was he shot...?
Lens Crafters: YOU BROKE HOW MANY?!
35:30 "IF ANYONE FINDS OUT, I"ll..I'll [IMPLIED SELF HARM THREAT HERE]"
Edgeworth: "WELL BEFORE YOU DIE I'LL PRY THE TRUTH OUT OF YOU"
not even 3 seconds later, Arin: "I really do think they're implying whoever is named guilty will get the death penalty?"
I...uh...huh???
Theres definitely times where theyre just seeing the lines and not actually taking them in, lol
1:30 I had to check if that was an actual line or if Dan was just joking😭
SAME!
I love how they seem to have forgotten a certain guy called "De Killer"... They have even seen De Killer's face!
This trial really highlights the main difference between Edgey and Franny. At the end of the day, Edgeworth cares more about justice than winning, whereas Francizka only cares about the latter.
or now he does, at least. he changed a lot between in a year
she'll come around. phoenix has that effect on people 😂
@@MegamanStarforce2010 It honestly depends how you interpret game 1 and some of the later games. It's like 50% "did they retcon this to make Edgeworth lighter and softer when they saw how popular he was" and 50% "they actually intended case 1-2 as a mislead on how bad Edgeworth was so that it was more surprising when he's not so bad and needs your help, and all the later stuff is them trying to make it clearer."
I think there's an implication that he does care about the truth at least somewhat, even early on in the flashbacks and 1-2. Unfortunately he's so much of a pawn other people are using and some of the investigations are so slapdash and poorly done to fit what more corrupt people pulling the strings want, so he really misses key conclusions until Phoenix and earlier Mia point out the problems. Edgeworth then tries to gloss over his uncertainty by going full in on believing everyone he prosecutes is guilty and deserved it right up until those conclusion gets blown up (though at least he doesn't double down and doesn't keep suspecting people after they've proven their innocence). And also he takes like a whole year to try to sort out the mind twists Manfred and Gant put him through.
I'm pretty sure they've already forgotten about Maya
I mean... Edgeworth... So... Yeah...
we thought we'd never get the 'stripped naked' line bc the grumps were using a guide, but by some miracle arin misread the walkthrough at the perfect time :,) bless
I like how in Phoenix Wright, proving someone else guilty is somehow tied to proving your client innocent.
No need for a separate trial or anything. A defense attorney's job is prosecute someone else right?
You mean the purpose of a trial isn't to dramatically and publicly solve a crime in real time?
The problem with Phoenix Wright court is that it's "guilty until proven otherwise", so you can't prove your client innocent unless you prove someone else is 100% the culprit. Japanifornia
I'm pretty sure they do have separate trials for the revealed killers, but we never see them, as they've already admitted to the crime.
The only exception, to my knowledge, is the Mask de Masque case.
@@kristophesiem5336 I was always confused by whether it's "innocent until proven guilty" or "guilty until proven innocent"
because I used to watch lawyer/mystery/police dramas from different countries,
but at some point, (maybe too many cop/crime jdramas/mangas at one point in time) I realised "guilty ..." was mostly Japanese
"Innocent ..." seems to be countries that follow the English Law and/or in the west
This is probably a subject I could research further at some point but....there's too many random rabbit holes I'll fall somehow fall into so...that'll just stay in the back of my head for now 🙃
There is a separate trial for the new person. That's actually a key point in the second Trials and Tribulations case.
15:38 Seeing Arin and Dan pick up on the Pokemon reference and run with it fills me with great joy.
My worry about Arin following a walkthrough was that some of the hilarious dialogue from some wrong options would be missed. Glad that we got to experience some of it today. 😂
I've never seen that stripped naked line before, that was wild
Yeah the good thing about Arin is that he enjoys going off the cuff enough that sometimes he just selects things and goes oops oops, better check what I was supposed to do. Makes for good content.
Arin knowing exactly what Ms. Andrews was going to say before she said it made Arin look very suspicious and probably gave him an alibi to murder Juan.
Noooo, his a-lee-bee!
YES I WAS HOPING THEY'D GET THE LINE
i cant wait until they get to the twist of this case, Dan's mind is gonna explode
unless it got spoiled by the walkthrough already lol
The 'What kind of juice was it' gag keeps getting funnier.
"Wait, what did I fuck up?" Probably using a walkthrough that really wanted you to see the stripped naked line?
Of course it's Will Powers! His clone was with you while the murder was being committed, the perfect cover 🧐
oh cmon...it was De Killer who had franziska shot. Remember, he said he left Pheonix a present. He sabotaged the prosecution.
It's funny since a lot of the Ace Attorney anime bloopers have the Dub actors joking around about Phoenix & Edgeworth being in love with each other
Hit em with the line, Edgeworth!
Tell ‘em Naegi!
The Grumps wildly switching between every character being definitely totally being the killer but never suspecting De Killer...... Classic!
"I refuse to testify."
"But would you be willing to needlessly perjure yourself?"
"Oh yeah, we can do that."
no way they stopped the episode like 5 lines away from the To Be Continued
Well they gotta give him something Worth Edge-ing.
Fun fact: Dan mispronounced “Juan es muy guapo” (Juan is very handsome) and instead said “Juan es mi guapo” (Juan is my handsome). Which I think made the whole thing better.
Juan es muy guapo y también es mi guapo.
🤓
if you think the following day is going to be insane...just remember last game you had a parrot on the stand
Ah man, It's gonna be so agonizing waiting a whole week to find out how they follow up on this episode, now that they've figured out the meaning behind the seashell card.
Every time you think a trial is almost over, it’s not. This is what I learned playing this game. There is a whole other half of this trial they haven’t even gotten to yet.
howling at them counting the number of glasses that get broken... "ummm is that 8?"
I like that Mia can still read Nick's mind, even though she's died
really loving their scrambling to name every single person as the killer. Really feels like the twist will punch them in the fucking face
im so excited!!
I can't wait to see their reaction to the actual twist. The fact that they have genuinely believed everyone else could be the killer except for the actual guilty party hopefully means that they will be floored once it's revealed.
I can just hear the audible ‘HOLY SHIT’ Dan will say when he and Arin discover the truth
I want to hear their theory on how the judge is the killer.
Once again, the episode ends seconds before the chapter break.
Imagine powers, the most timid and kind giant, actually be a cold hearted killer. I wouldn't be able to trust anyone in this series after that.
I love that Edgeworth is just, fully exasperated with Phoenix because Phoenix just has all luck and god on his side. Like even after getting over the whole perfect record thing, he is still a great prosecutor, so for him to have to argue with Phoenix, and Phoenix just seems to FUMBLE to success, its great
Me after reading the title: 👁️👄👁️
Same 😂
Me after reading the title: 👅👄👅
Arin...Dan...Powers can't be the killer, he was with you guys THE ENTIRE TIME. All so he was more sad and disappointed that he wasn't getting roles, he didn't seem to be blaming anyone else for it.
This grumps game series is the only one I go back and rewatch every few months. I was first introduced to game grumps by watching the first ace attorney series a couple of years ago and recently rewatched it the whole way through. I’ll probably rewatch that one again in the future and will definitely rewatch this one the whole way through when it is complete. Keep it up boys!
Same
I really love watching this after playing the games, and picking up on how Edgeworth is trying to win but with the motivation that its the best way to find the truth. The core of an adversarial justice system is that if both sides do their job well true guilt and innocence will be found. While the reality of that is questionable he's definitely embraced it. Meaning his behavior makes more sense and has more depth
Edgeworth's development in the trilogy and the Investigations games are excellent IMO, love his epiphany that the truth is the true goal of any lawyer. One of my favourite lines from Investigations 1 is this:
"As a prosecutor, what I pursue is not the perfect victory, but the perfect truth. And if that means that the bridge I must cross will crumble beneath my feet... then let it crumble as I walk on towards the truth!"
can't wait for them to do the tres bien case just so arin can voice the owner of tres bien bc they look so similar lmaoo
I know it probably won't matter in the long run but man you can feel the gaps in their memory from their scheduling of this. Hearing them finger both Adrian for shooting von Karma and Powers for killing Juan when the guy who did both tells you directly he did it lol
the "Matpat gives birth" joke is unironically an official Five Nights at Freddy's story
I like to listen to these while I am driving. It gets super confusing when they make up dialogue, have no idea when they are serious or not. I love it!
I love how it has evaded them up until now that every person who gets convicted in this game gets the d3ath penalty. True Game Grumps core lmao
If you trust the Miles Edgeworth investigations games, that's not true. Since for example, Mr. Frank Sawit appears in a case taking place in a prison.
@@hellhound78 i think it depends on premeditated murder vs second degree
@@hellhound78 Oh, interesting, I didn't know that. Actually, now that I think about it, in this game we also see Morgan in prison later on. I was saying this based on the premise, where I thought it said that this is a "futuristic" judiciary system where the d3ath penalty is used on everyone after a shortened trial or something. Maybe I didn't remember correctly
@@angryfluteperson Well in Morgan's case she didn't commit the murder, just assisted. That being said, I believe it just mentions the system is fast and often finds people guilty but not that it specifically goes for execution more often.

Knowing these are recorded months in advance, it's sad hearing Arin mention MatPat and especially "the cycle continues" at 1:00

And sometimes the glitched dialogue doctor from Petz Rescue Wildlife Vet.

I am thoroughly convinced the boys ended last episode, got Men in Black mind-wiped, then started this one. It’s the only explanation for how much they got all the facts this mixed up.
phoenix & edgeworth have a slower slow burn romance than any bridgerton
Another day, another Game Grumps Ace Attorney episode, which means more gay shipping of Phoenix and Edgeworth. Must be a good day 😊

Like, it doesn't matter if we don't know why she did it, she still did it. And it doesn't even matter if we can prove that it was her, specifically, but the simple fact that the person in the picture doesn't fit the costume means it's not the actual defendant, so that would be all you would need
I'm glad they picked the stolen option because if they didn't then we would have missed the strip you naked line!
