"Nobody is allowed to quash your freedom of speech." Wrong. If you're a private entity you ARE allowed to quash whatever speech you want. Unless you are the Government, or acting in some way as funded arm of the Government, you aren't required to provide freedom of speech.

This is one of the most misunderstood statues on the books.
This is an issue that goes to the court rulings. Our rigged Supreme Court, holds contract law above legislative law! Corporate America only allows us to participate in the economy if we follow THEIR RULES.
You either sign the contract, from fishing to credit cards, ore you don't play! This in itself is not the complete problem. You can always choose not to sign. However! The courts also consistently rule against anti-trust actions. Corporate America is concentrated into fewer and fewer hands. They control the markets, therefore you have to play in their market. There is no other place to go and the courts happily let them have this omnipotent control.
If any one is interested there are two cases that show the real consequences of our rigged courts. Italian Colors vs AMEX and Ohio vs AMEX.
We are all getting played, but most of us don't know it. You get what you vote for.

I’m certainly not a constitutional scholar but work for a Fortune 500 company. My employer makes it abundantly clear it’s your duty to project and carry that corporate image and not discredit them in any way at work and off the clock. Yes, discipline to including termination has been meted out for transgressors. So in regards to your employer, you don’t have freedom of speech.

I disagree. They are not customers. I may be wrong but don't they have a contract or something similar with that organization? Only a select number are chosen each year to fish in that organizations tournaments. When they accept the invite they accept the rules. And lastly, the first amendment protects speech from government interference.

The first amendment does give us the freedom of speech but it's the government or government entities that cannot squash your freedom of speech this does not apply to a private entity. They can have their own policies on what you can and cannot say and they can do what they wish within the law. For example if your employer doesn't like you or the things you say they are more than welcome to write you up or.

Private companies can make you sign an agreement to limit speech. Or, if you don't agree, you can't join the organization. The US Constitution limits the GOVERNMENT from stopping or limiting speech. Not private organizations.
That being said, the fact the MLF and Bassmaster make their employees and anglers sign or agree to these limits really shows how crappy these organizations have become. In fact this type of behavior occurs is just another reason why I ignore MLF and Bassmaster. They don't treat the anglers very well. These are organizations I would never join.

You are free to say what you want without the government criminalizing it, but the private entity can still fire you.

Criticism often leads to retribution by whoever is being criticized. Sad but true. If all the anglers would refuse to sign the agreement to be silent they would be better off in the long run. The anglers may need to start a new organization owne3d by themselves, or go a season or 2 fishing a different tour.

The Government cannot abridge free speech. Private entities, however, are NOT bound by any requirement to allow free speech. No one is interested in these contests because of the owners/managers or sponsors. They are watching the talent. Grow a pair guys or be quiet forever. Move to another league, go on strike or better yet, all of you just quit and form your own league. You are already just fighting over the "crumbs" after the owners take their lion's share of the revenue. Only a few of you are even making money so what are you going to lose?
