"Akatsuki" (this regular version) is one of my top favorite songs of all time. But I am very into power metal and I'm a huge fan of this kind of guitar solos: dueling and harmonizing.
Also Su-metal's three solo songs from that concert (Budokan 2014 Black Night) are the reason I eventually became a die-hard fan.
The fact that she was only 16 years old there and she already owned the song, the stage and the whole venue is just mind-blowing.
There are newer performances, probably better in every technical aspect, including Su's more mature vocals. But this one is and will always be THE iconic performance of "Akatsuki".

Awesome! This is actually one of the first handlful of performances and songs I've seen in the early days of my Babyemtal journey that made me love Babymetal. I'm a sucker for a good ballad, and a sucker for sweet guitar riffs and fast drums. Never would I have thought these two things can be combined. Instantly became one of my favorite songs!
Su-metal's Budokan 2021 version of Akatsuki is also amazing, slightly different, and 7 years older. I hope you check that one out (on your own or as a reaction).

The "Legend 1997" version is sung as a lament, because she knows she is going to die in the next song (Babymetal Death from Legend 1997). That concert is unique for so many reasons.

Nice reaction! I love Akatsuki in the Budokan 2014 version. I always imagine Meat Loaf´s ghost standing in the audience, listening to and jamming to this. I´m sure he would have loved it🙂 The solo is fire, Leda and Takayoshi together sound so good! As does Su-Metal!
Great reaction - and I think you will agree about what I said after you watched the unfinished version - same melody, same lyrics, completely different feel. The two versions could easily be two different songs.

The one camera was shaking the whole concert. The editors put it to good use to make some things more intense. Poor Su gets cooked alive by all the flames; look how red her face gets at times. Su did attend acting and music school and it shows in this video.
I prefer the unfinished version too

Sofimetal! Great job and I hope your throat feels better soon. This is my absolute favorite version. The unfinished version is so different that I almost feel like it is a different song. Both versions are wonderful but like you I prefer the pared back version partly as it's a nice contrast to the normal heavier BabyMetal style.
You didn't say not to suggest so maybe No Rain No Rainbow which is another Su solo which has a very emotional feel.

Every good Super Heroine needs a great cape. FYI, you might want to read the lyrics before you do the "unfinished" version. The version that I especially like is the one from the Wembley arena show in 2016 (there's one of YT with the video blocked over that has the original audio)..

According to the the narrations before the songs, Su is known as "紅の騎士" (Kurenai no Kishi; Crimson Knightess) when she wears the cape and sings her solo songs.
In the intro to this song at the 'Legend I' concert, the narration said:
"YUIMETAL and MOAMETAL fell to the darkside.
To get the metal spirits back to them, SU-METAL stood up alone.
The metal spirit became the crimson flame and enveloped SU-METAL.
And SU-METAL has changed into the Crimson Knightess.
The crimson flame burns in the jet black darkness.
Tonight SU-METAL's beat of life trembles the world."

Another nice suggestion to enjoy a SuMetal solo, the deceiving slow ballad intro becomes a striped unique live version with Akatsuki Unfinished Version live at Legend 1997 in 2013, which you already know.
While SuMetal is performing this, the other girls are taking a break to come back after this song and perform their own songs under Black Babymetal subgroup.
This is live at Budokan 2014, reaching a huge milestone with only 16 and 14 yo, big international artists performed here like The Beatles among many others, so you get the idea how huge is this.
This song got a tribute to X-Japan, is a power/speed metal ballad, if you want to know legendary Japanese band you should know X-Japan, Yoshiki one of the founder member was the one who suffered serious injury while headbanging during a live concert, that's the tribute in Headbanger!! song live at Legend 1997 is a must.
In this song our queen SuMetal is fighting for a neverending love.
Akatsuki it pronounce almost with the "u" silent so it goes like "Ah - kats- ki", it means "crimson moon" or "red moon", that's why is a homage to "Kurenai" (crimson) by X-Japan, even the beginning with that shout is a tribute to "X" live version.
This is one out of four solo she has on the repertory, the other left are "No Rainbow No Rainbow", "Amore" and Rondo Of Nightmare (if you didn't), same for Black Babymetal subgroup with only YuiMetal and MoaMetal, you can find songs like "Song 4" (with Metallica riffs) at this same venue or "Onedari Daisakusen" live at Legend 1997.
The Kami Band in this Black Night are the same at Rondo Of Nightmare clip: Leda Cygnus and Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars, BOH on bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums. Takayoshi is the one with the pink guitar (aka pink-chan) and was Mikio's pupil, he also got a golden guitar, everyone loves Taka.
There's another special version live at Budokan 2021 with the grown up and more mature SuMetal vocals and some winks to other versions.
