Masterpiece. I just forget to breathe at the end. One of the finest film. I just can't believe it was made 100 years ago...
This is such a good story. It gave me the same sort of feeling of doom and justice that I got from reading Les Misėrables. Unforgettable sorrow and compassion.
100 years old-today. ❤️🎞
Great film, a timeless masterpiece.
Today I learnt that in the 18th century Robespierre overthrew the Bourbons with the help of the 20-century ideology of Bolshevism.
Therefore, Robespierre was the world's first known time traveller
I liked it x

Thanks for the upload! Though it would be a bit better to watch the version with the music.
Cinema was borned.
I am going to colorize this masterwork. Should be quite sweet with such a great rip.
It was made with black and white in mind, why would you mess with it?
@@arthurpaes9694 many B&W films are colorized, why not, just don't watch it
Good luck with that...... which pixel ya gonna start with? Allegedly there's ongoing lossy compression of videos for storage space purposes. This one's maximum available resolution is 480, but I've seen numerous cases of degraded quality likely a result of repeated compression. Across a huge number of vintage films are many that are just barely watchable and it's really hard to believe they were uploaded that way and further hard to believe they're just as pixelated on film.
I wonder if Stanley Kubrick viewed this for inspiration for Barry Lyndon

no audio
That's because of copyright.
@Moises.. it's silent anyway...there is no sound
@@annedavis6090 Silent films were never silent. There was always some kind of musical accompaniment.
@@OnlyEdandTheAlmost ok Ed...this is true. But I'm sure you understood my meaning.
@Josh Allen the music in silent films, usually orchestral, matched events on screen. it wasn't just some random music.
how can they understood silent flim ?
You have to watch...
Intertitles to understand the main plot and main dialogues, exaggerated facial expressions and gestures to understand the emotions and personalities of characters.
Also movies were mostly shown with live music (piano or even orchestra) to depict the atmosphere.
Bolshevism? In midst of the French Revolution? Robespierre was Bolshevik? Oh man that's a terrible anachronism!
Filmmakers likely wanted to draw parallels to the decade this film was made.
@@JudgeJulieLit , if they did it today, they would be called "wokr trash"
Robespierre is the political Terminator
