Baljit Singh "Bally" Sagoo (born 19 May 1964) is a British-Indian record producer. Born in Delhi, India, Sagoo was raised from an early age in Birmingham. He has been active in the recording and entertainment industries since 1989. He is the producer of albums and the mastermind behind songs and remixes. He remains a force in the music industry and is currently the figurehead of the UK and Belgium based entertainment company, Fresh Dope Industries.

Much admired and feted as he is, the sad truth is, and I have never before had the courage to say this in public, that Bally Sagoo, almost single handed killed the thriving UK band scene. Before Bally Sagoo started a stream of hits from about 1990, there were dozens of different Punjabi dance bands playing in the UK. It was a thriving blossoming music scene. Then along came Bally Sagoo with his studio produced tracks, over dubbed, full of sound effects, and feeding parasitically off the talent of real singers and musicians. A new generation of young teens suddenly only thought music was good if it had all this blurb over it, no one wanted to see live musicians playing real instruments, or listen to some guy from a local factory get up and sing. So instead of bands the youngsters wanted DJs. Hiring a DJ for a wedding is a lot cheaper than hiring a full band. By the late 1990s the band scene had been killed off and Punjabi dance music became a strictly studio affair, no longer dominated by genuine music directors and composers, but by 'producers' with PCs. Incidentally the "Chesire Cat" is a white man doing the sort of 'cod' West Indian voice that got Jim Davidson kicked off TV. There! I just had to get that off my chest. Fire and forget.

dhol players were not required when B Sagoo was on stage. Ruined all the mixes with the not required noise (dhols). Whoever's idea was all this, just fuc&%d it up.

What a flat performance. Rajeev B, DJ Harj, DJ Manz, DJ Ish, Frenzy, etc.. are all running things these days when it comes to Bhangra mixes.
