This video is a part of a "RUclips Shorts" series I am creating to help beginner guitarists learn all of the basic guitar chords they need to play the songs that I teach! In this series, I plan to make a short 15-30 second video explanation for how to play all of the basic major and minor guitar chords. The goal being to help anyone who is stuck on a specific guitar chord be able to learn that chord as quickly as possible, and get back to learning their favorite songs! STAY TUNED for more short chord tutorials like this one! :D
I think one of the advantages of this fingering is when you use it with Bb chord progressions. With Bb you will place your first finger on first fret first string and your second finger and 3rd fingers on 2nd and 3rd string for faster chord change
Honestly, this shape is so uncomfortable to play! I get that it's useful to have a shape that isn't a barre chord, but the barre shape is way easier on the fingers
I like to use both, depending on what I’m playing! Plus, this open version is just a bit more beginner-friendly than the barre version. I plan to teach barre version soon as well :)
Different places have different names for things; I grew up hearing it called the “pointer” finger. But I have gotten some comments regarding confusion around that, so I might switch to calling it the “index” finger in the future, as that seems to be a bit more universally accepted ☺️🤙🏽

When you study people like Willie Nelson you learn how tuff they really are on guitar
I guess I just won’t play an Eb ever. Flawless instructions, but it’s outside my ability
Just tune your guitar down a half step
"Love you so" chord
Oh yeah, you’re totally right! I forgot this chord was in that song, but can’t un-hear it now ☺️🤙🏽
@@TheGroovyGuitarDude HahHshahaha it happened the same to me 🤣 Keep up the hard work you're a great teacher 😉 I learned a lot thanks to you!
How to strengthen your fingers for it? its really tough as a beginner.
Just play the chords you already know over and over again, making sure they use all fingers. Even power/barre chords help
Thats a nice guitar...is it a gretcsch ?
Thanks! It’s actually a Gibson 335 ☺️🤙🏽

Slide d shape up 1 fret, ignore d string. Not the text book way but a lot easier.
So basically do a D one fret higher.
Pretty much! ☺️🤙🏽
Do a video on that
My fingers literally can’t do that. My hands are too small :(
Bloody difficult to play it
It’s a stretch for sure!
Yeah this is impossible 🤣☹️
“Pointer finger”? Here on planet Earth we call it the index finger. You’re welcome.

The two are very interchangeable
