Just started playing this after a few years. You cleared up a question I had and I've been loving your videos lately Paul for those reasons! I can always count on your clarification of rules :)
That is a really smart way to get the bare basics of playing the game. This makes me even more excited to dive in and play. Now just hoping that the story and choices are compelling. If so I have a lot of game with Tainted Grail. Three campaigns that are 30-40 hours each is a lot of game. But if it is good it will be one of my best investments.
We've seen your videos from Spain and we think you're one of the best channels, very helpful and super clear explanations!! Thank you very much and you have gained one subscriptor from Spain :D

Oh, the chain building for combat has changed quite a bit from what I remember. Wasn't aware of that. Looks quite a bit more streamlined to it's previous version .
Yep. Thanks. I added a comment on the show notes. I missed the messages in the chat in all my excitement. It should have been "IF" this cards is discarded... by some other effect. Thanks!
Glad i decided to look up some others play throughs. For some reason, my tutorial at verse 7 in whitneing gives me two different options. I can indeed go to verse 5 and discuss the minher, or i can do verse 8 and speak to the blacksmith...only problem is that there isnt a verse 8. Had me very confused. Not sure why the swapped it from tanner to blacksmith or vice versea, but must have been one of those odd instances a few bad apples mixed in the bunch.
Earlier on in the video, when I was following the scripted tutorial, I played the same card, and the instructions in the rules said that then, when I lost 1 rep, if I didn't have any, I just didn't lose it, so I think this is ok.
the helpers cards are the combat overview, order of the day and icon glossary? if yes why it is asked to get one of each but the combat overview card is only one to begin with? can't you play the tutorial with a 2nd or a 3rd person? is it only one and beor character?
The script has now been approved. Filming starts maybe tomorrow, but I am off to a con on Thursday, so more likely next week. Hoping to get it done by the end of the month.
Also messed up organising my cards without noticing there was a ' do not shuffle' deck. I'm a bit lost now. Should the 2x 15 cards to be used for the card decks in the tutoriol not be the 1-15 Beor specific cards decks? Anyone reading this message willing to confirm wich cards need to be used for the tutorial & in which order they should be? Many thanks!!!
This tutorial looks awesome, thanks! I'm really looking forward to play it myself. Could you tell me which brand of sleeves you use here? They look really good!
Could you please do more playthrough videos soon? I'm trying to see if this game is for me or not, and for those who care about spoilers don't have to watch it.
I'd love to, I really would, but I need to fit all of this in around my other work. I'm stacked with other projects this week and the weekend, off to Essen on Monday. Hopefully sometime in November.
This is in my diary for early January. Possibly December if I can do it, but I already have a lot of work booked in for next month when I agreed to take on this job. The publisher is happy with the timescales for it. I'd love to do it sooner if I can.
Thank you for the great video. I'd like to introduce TG playthrough to the people of my country, so is it OK to screen capture this video and use it in my post? I'll make sure to include your channel link in it.
@@GamingRulesVideos I'm not sure now, no. The second sentence in the following quote is clear, but the third is ambiguous. It's completely academic though because the bottom key will always align. "When playing the very first Combat card during your Activation, you don’t need to fulfill any special requirements! This card doesn’t have to connect any Keys. It just needs to line properly with the previous card in the Sequence (see: Combat Sequence Example), which will cause its bottom Key to join with the bottom Key of the previous card."
The combat system went through a few changes. Currently, "When playing the very first Combat card during your Activation, you don't need to fulfill any special requirements. The card doesn't have to connect any keys." Page 15, top right column.
It doesn't look like it though doesn't seem like it is necessary. Seems like a very easy way to teach the game and then hop into the main story. I'm very pleased with how they handled it and hopefully will get my group into the game faster.
@@codydavis3100 yeah if there's no 2 player tutorial I'll just dive into teaching the game. I've watched enough of the playthroughs and have read the rulebook they posted on Facebook so I should be set.
@@JohnLudlow I would recommend taking all new players through this tutorial. It only takes 30 mins, and the fact that there is only 1 character doesn't matter - they just all play the one character. That's what I'm going to do with all new players anyway. Or just send them the link to this video :)
I think so. I've seen a few other reviewers who have received early copies. As I mentioned in the video, I've been commissioned to create some proper tutorials for the game, so I got sent an early copy in order for me to be able to do that.
@@GamingRulesVideos Thank you for answering :D Gamefound did mention an August delivery estimation and 3 months later for translated version but i had no news since then, and i can't wait to lay my hands on it !

Thanks Paul, great video. Really helped me get through the tutorial. I look forward to the full campaign.

Thanks Paul, this video helped enormously! Cheers!
Thanks for this, got the game 2nd hand and the tutorial deck was mixed in with regular cards unfortunately
Oh, the chain building for combat has changed quite a bit from what I remember. Wasn't aware of that. Looks quite a bit more streamlined to it's previous version .
Yep. They told me that things had changed quite a bit from the prototype.
You have probably been told this already, but you can’t choose to discard your own cards. A lot of encounters will have effects that do this.

@56:23 Is losing 1 rep the cost you must pay to use the rest of the ability, hence if you cannot lose 1 rep, you cannot use the rest of the ability?

@30:44 How is Beor already dead for two weeks and still getting about? Is this a zombie game?
I got a second hand copy and the tutorial stack is missing entirely. What cards are included? Thanks a lot
Any idea when the official how to play video will be done?
The script has now been approved. Filming starts maybe tomorrow, but I am off to a con on Thursday, so more likely next week. Hoping to get it done by the end of the month.
The guy is the first one playing TG correctly. And he reminds me of Christoph Waltz. No reason to go anywhere else.
If you mean me, thanks. I'm actually working on the full official how-to-play video very soon :)
Yup! You. Great review. Concise. Precise. Well dressed.

How can I buy this game?
Nice tutorial thanks! Question: What sleeves are you using?
These were FFG sleeves whilst I was waiting for the official ones to arrive.
I see you've sleeved the combat and diplomacy decks, Paul. Did they fit back into the box like that?
When are you making a “How To Play”, my copy just arrived.

Is it viable to play the game with just one character.
I believe so, yes.

what do you mean by screen capture it? I can add foreign subtitles on here if that would help.
Oh, that would be even better. I think it is not allowed yet.
@@ks4108 I mean if you can create the subtitle file, I can easily add it to the video
@@GamingRulesVideos I mean I tried to add translations, but it seems that your video is not enabled for community contribution.

Technically you do have to match an icon for the first card every turn, but that card does not have to match with a lightning bolt.
