Ο ρυθμός πράγματι είναι δυτικός ! Παρ' όλα αυτά, είναι πολύ πιθανό να είναι η προέλευσή του Μικρασιάτικη, καθώς μη ξεχνάς ότι η Σμύρνη και η Πόλη είχαν πολλούς δυτικούς (βαλσάκια κτλ).

This beautiful melody (cmpsd 1910 ?) sounds a lot like a French melody "Mon Amant de Saint-Jean" (cmpsd 1945?), which had a "second career" in the 1990s. Depending on how you want to make it feel, you can turn into a byzantine bluesy kind of tune (e.g. Areti Ketime or Katarina Papadopoulou), or a cool dancing melancholy French waltz (faster than a Viennese waltz and slower than a Spanish fandango). You can mix them together in various slices, exchanging refrains and so on.
Eivalla-ô can be understood only with the rest of the words in the refrain (giallo/monon or mono / agapi or agape). I suggest "Farewell" or "Fare Thee well", "So long, goodbye", "Keep safe on your journey".

I'm leavin' on the first hour of the morn'
I'm bound off for the bay of Mexico
Or maybe the coast of California'

eyvallah means ''goodbye'' ''thank you'' and ''okay'' in turkish. I guess, it's used for goodbye in this song. Menexedes and zoumpoulia have similar articulation in turkish. menekse and sümbül

Και όμως, υπάρχει ο τρίσημος ρυθμός (βάλς πχ) στη μικρασιάτικη μουσική. Ο χορός βαλς δεν υπάρχει και είναι δυτικότροπος :)

Update ! of my previous answer.
Eivala may have a meaming... I found in aforum that it probably is from the turkish eyvallah and can mean"may you have a good road on your going away "... but here something like " lets go "

the word {eibala} means nothing ( I m almost sure...) in greek or any other language..
Its only a poetic/song word just to make the rhyme ( somethig like ..{.lalalo.}. )
