Great review. I rebodied mine into a chinese faux u87 chassis i had around, which really helped the resonance and plosives. I've found it exceptional for the tiny amount i paid here in the UK.

Would you believe it, this is my first and only XLR mic that I've bought. It has served me well for the year that I have owned it, and I really like the raw sound that I get from it, as well as how it responds to some light processing. Of course, this will not be my main mic forever, but until I have both the need and the budget for an upgrade, I will continue to use and enjoy the t.bone SC 400.

We could solve so many microphone problems simply by outlawing the name Peter. Or pizza delivery.

I don't think mic reviews should have the audio fixed in post. By removing the plosives, you make the microphone more attractive. You have to listen to them during editing. The viewer, to get the TRUE sound, needs to hear them too. You need to do a short now with this mic.

one of the best low budget drum overhead mic. Period. Recommended for a cheap but absolutely fine drum overhead mic.

This is a really decent mic, i bought mine for about £30 brand new on eBay. I find when using an SSL strip to help shape the tone for my voice it sounds really nice.

Looks almost identical to the generic Presonus bundled S/C condenser I got with my first Audiobox USB all in one rig.
Not ideal, but not to shabby for the introductory price.
    Great content my dude!

I appreciate your honesty. I saw sound speeds review and got excited enough to order 2 for doing outdoor ambient recording. I was very impressed with the 6.7db self noise, but it was only after I ordered 2 of them that I saw that the current spec sheet on their website lists the self noise as 18db. It seems that they must have cheaped out on some of the components to keep the price down. I think they will work fine for mics that I'm willing to take out into the elements, but I would have gone up a notch if I had noticed the revised specs. 2 condenser microphones for $128 delivered though, I think they'll work out fine if I do my part on the wind shielding.

Interesting you say this as I was considering buying another to hook up to my X8 to use in the field. The copy I have now is very low self noise so I might look at another used one. Would be good if you could post a video on your channel with the recording.

To my ears, this is like the opposite of the MXL770 really boosted on the bottom end not the top

I quite like some darker mics... In fact I preferred that over mics that are overly bright... Especially when they're not smooth up there... However this one is really muddy and It sounds Rather muffled.... I can't even tell what's going on in the lows under those mid lows there.... It sounds like if you tried to reduce the mud and look for something nice and the lows you might not find anything solid to like down there. And I have a feeling that if you try to get some air up there it might be really grainy and spiky... It sounds like a bad overly bright Chinese mic that has been poorly modded to get rid of the highs

Hello. So i ended up on this video when looking for some info about the microphone so i thought i might ask you because i dont know anything about microphones. So i have access to one of these but there is no cord for it but i found a XLR to AUX im thinking about buying. So my question is if you/anyone knows about any free software that works good with it? And i dont need anything super special because i borrowed the microphone from work for a one time use because i have some issues with my neighbours where they are stomping around. Slamming doors and much more all night so those are the sounds i need to record sins they wont stop by talking to them 😆

Mechanically, also looks like my neewer nw-700, I paid ~20euros for it a few years ago. the SC400 has a lot more components on it's circuit board, I guess for the low limit switch.

Is there a big difference between the nw700 and the sc400 in the quality of sound recording voices? Im thinking to change my neewer mic.

Pops aside, SC400 with filter off was way warmer and smoother than the AKG, SPARK, and KB2. Even if someone disagrees, the wallet still wins.

I think the T-bone is not a good mike, even though it's cheap. Listening to the other mikes is like taking a blanket of the T-bone. Ok, even the AKG cost about 40 Euro's more here in Europe, but it sounds so much better. And if you want to trade it, it's an AKG... ;)
