I wish they could have kept 2:42-2:56 in the theatrical version. It's such a fun homage to Cab Calloway, along with that "I'm gonna do the best I can" line from Cab's Old Man on the Mountain song.

It's a shame the extra parts weren't included in the song.
I think one of the reasons why they didn't keep this first scene was because he said "Santa Claus" When he's supposed to say "Sandy Claws"

well, that is the fun fact i knew by selick himself, maybe it was also necessary to not use the scene
Diegoraf Blasio I kind of think the dancing bugs seems a bit like a small detail for that scene given that everything else could have been used, but I guess when your on a schedual and budget that it would have taken too long for to think up something else he could have done instead of the bugs that would have been just as visually stimulating.
Ouch, I never noticed before that Oogie's snake bit Santa on the nose. At least it wasn't poisonous.

The snake looks like an Indian Krait, a highly venomous (but shy and not very aggrestive) snake.
The snake is actually the hive mind of the bugs,that's how it keeps eacapeing,it jumps out,and slithers of as the bugs die

This movie totally freaked me out when I saw it around the age of 8, and then again when I was 12 or so.

I found the deleted scene on my dvd but the voice of Oogie is different on the deleted scene

I remember watching this version of the song, back in the early-mid 2010’s, and honestly, the cut part with more lyrics is my favorite part of the song. I particularly love the way Oogie Boogie sings that part, and the way the clarinets and saxophones are played. It just sounds awesome! Also, the deleted dance sequence completes the reference to Cab Calloway’s The Old Man of the Mountain.

I learned the full song before i watched the movie and when I watched it I was really confused.
possibly this full version was cut due to time limits. but really, would a minute or two have made that much difference?

The second verse was cut because they reckoned that miniature dancing bug armatures would be difficult, while the shadow dance break was removed simply for time, but was completed. In theory, they could put it back in and it would fit seamlessly.

true but yet they sometimes do animation to fil in at what the scene would have looked like plus a puppetry movie all of a suden goes animated for like a second of the song? would be a cool music video for oogie boogies song lol but it would have confused audiences if they suddenly changed from 3d to 2d animation
time and cost because it is exspensive and very time effetive to move puppets like this even though they look small it takes one move per frame and for one scene in the movie it takes like 14,00 hours or something but it really takes alot of time and money in this case lol
I like it when I play this video in the 1.25 playback speed. It is something you can move to. Also, the speed is almost exactly like how Tiger Army covered this song.
