I don't think Josh knew what was going on exactly but I think he picked up on a change of behaviour on Drakes end cause they had worked together on the Amanda show and his demeanor was probably different with everything Drake was dealing with at the time.

I remember once I watched the pilot episode with my grandparents when I was like 6 and they clearly said like "this show is definetly not for kids" in the part when josh dresses like a woman. Now with all this Quiet on set thing many things start to make sense... things that in that time only adults realized (if they were focused)
