I'm always the most impressed by actors who can communicate a lot without lines (I'm ex-theatre) - they were both so powerful here. More character development and storytelling packed into this 5 min than most films. And the song...! Heartbreakingly good. My theatrical little heart is obsessed with this stunning piece of work.

I remember reading (or seeing) an interview with IU where she said she got advice from a famous vocalist to not rely on her voice (i.e. vocal techniques) so much. She took that to mean to focus more on conveying emotions when she sings. She certainly does that!

I felt it too and it do get more connections and touching. Definitely one of her best song.

In the guide to BTS they do mention the one drama V acted in, which was called Hwarang. He had a hard time filming that one because BTS was also very busy at the time and he was stressed and exhausted, and so he hasn’t done a drama since then. But when he went on Pallet with IU a few months ago he mentioned to her that someday he wanted to act in an apocalyptic drama, and 3 months later here we are. We knew IU’s acting is top notch, but I think V’s acting has gotten better since Hwarang was released. (And he was already quite good.)

I haven't seen anyone else saying this but I noticed when V was hitting the cube it was like he was hitting a screen. So I think the cube is made up of screens and it's supposed to represent the media or people on the internet.
I think because they were killed by it and their clothes were added to the pile of people it has already killed, the whole MV is supposed to be a metaphor for suicide as a result of online hate.

You have a very good point! I also get the narrative of the cubes being "boxes" that literally box people in and take away all their agency, which could also mean a kind of metaphorical death. It could suggest them being boxed as "imperfect" and lacking by the cubes/social standard and therefore deemed incapable of "life"!

Great reaction. This is my favorite IU song. The mini film with V is so good. Their chemistry and acting was outstanding. I am only now after many listens am able to not cry. Still tear up though. This comment is out of the blue but since you mentioned your musical tastes. Check out a Chinese singer Zhou Shen. His song Da Yu from an animated film is outstanding and he has an ethereal voice. Also Floating Lights a new song. Well worth a listen.

Apart from his work in bts this is Taehyung’s second role, hopefully we’ll get more once he’s done with the military. And IU is amazing of course

He did have a role in the kdrama Hwarang back in 2016/2017. I can't wait to see V act more in the future, but I'm pretty sure BTS want to tour first before pursuing more solo work after their military service is completed.

Such a beautiful and emotional video featuring amazing acting and vocals that makes the experience so personal. I really do hope that Tae & IU do other projects together both film and music as they have great chemistry and when he was on her show their voices also blended so well. Also at the end it was pointed out by someone that he can hear what is coming but she can't, while she can see what is coming but she covers his good eye so he can't. Both cry at the same moment though and from the same left eye. Also the right side of his face seems to have burn scars so maybe he had encountered a cube before but got away at the last minute. This cube was relentless in its pursuit and even seemed to change size so it could come into the building. Earlier when it was flying overhead you could tell no way it could fit inside those hallways. I also noticed the cube waits for them to stop fighting and accept their fate. If you notice there are no other people so obviously no person is able to meet the criteria this cube holds that would allow someone to survive. The camcorder that kept showing a better reality, was giving us the viewer a happier version of the events. They both rise in the air together, their bodies still solid, while the reality is that they have been turned to ash. At the top of the camcorder right before it turns off you see ash particles in the air. I also loved how the clothes landed together on the pile. Again all of this symbolizing that even though they seemingly lost to the cube, it couldn't destroy their love for each other. They stayed together in life and death, so indeed their love did win. I can't get enough of this MV, the acting is Oscar level and combined with the award worthy vocals and lyrics it's both heartbreaking but also heartwarming that at least they went together.

When you said you loved cinematic music, I immediately thought of "Stay Alive" by Jungkook, produced by Suga. It's a soundtrack for BTS's webtoon and the song is atmospheric and haunting.

After this comeback and related content is done, you should consider checking out the episode of her talkshow Palette where V was her guest. Or at least check the videos/parts where they sing each other's songs and sing together 😊

It's a masterpiece, but the tear that falls from his good eye and her sigh finished me...😢
Another coincidence: If there was an alien invasion (it's considered terrorist) guess who was in the Special Forces and would need to try to stop them?😦😦😦
Here's a message for mens with their wars and the creators of "Cubes", we are people, we deserve to live, to be happy with those we love... your wars not only kill people but destroy entire dreams... they could be yours... .😭😭😭

I made the mistake of watching this at work. I had to explain myself. 😪 It's not fair that a 5 minute MV can cause so much emotion.
I hope you'll watch one of her shows soon. My favorite is probably "My Mister" Sadly her co-star is Lee Sun-kyun, who just passed away. RIP. But she's probably best known for "Hotel del Luna"
Are you ready for June 21?

My favorite IU drama is Scarlet Heart Ryeo. All the emotions in that one. I don’t think they skipped a single one, and the whole entire cast are all stars.

I've seen in K-dramas going back to 2008 that flowers-in-the-hair is code for touched-in-the-head. So the flowers are a nod that the pair are delusional at that moment.
