4:40 Yes, the Standard series of missiles is still in use with the US Navy. The older SM-2 is still in service, although being supplemented by the more advanced and longer ranged SM-6, and there is also the SM-3, which is specialised in shooting down ballistic missiles.
One that you missed when talking about the Iowa class battleships is USS New Jersey in her Vietnam configuration. We already have a shore bombardment mission in Vietnam, it would be nice to have Big J for that mission.
From the USSR I would like to see the Kalinin, Tarantul III, Grisha V, Akula, Sierra I/II, Oscar II.... it is a pity that this period up to 89~ is not represented in the game. ( Neustrashimy would be a stretch (93), but very cool to see too) For the USN In addition to the vls Ticonderogas and Spruances, I would also like to see the Los Angeles Flight 2 and 3 and the Ohio class.
Would take just an updated kreshin that got the refit in 1985 some of the other AA destroyers for the Soviet that do not get their SS n 2 launcher updates of 1985 to deal with the tomahawk missles
A lot of those UK ships are in Jane’s fleet commander. See someone already transferred the missions with included ships. Brace of Kirovs, a dozen udaloys and a couple of squadrons of bighorns if we are playing fantasy navy now like Wows
Ark Royal: Original was commissioned for Sir Walter Raleigh and launched as the Ark Raleigh. Sir Walter gifted the vessel to Queen Elizabeth (the first), and as a royal ship, was renamed the Ark Royal.
Another ship that can work considering both timeline and since its speculative already, is the CSGN project, more known as the Nuclear Strike Cruiser from DARPA(en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strike_cruiser) as it also has a peculiar caliber of gun, the MCLWG 8"/55 Mk 71, a "What if" ship that had Harpoons, CIWS, Tomahawks, and a pair of Mk.26 launchers on a Nuclear powered cruiser with AEGIS Edit: if you're reading this still, Stealth has released a video of a new mod to Sea Power, basically it is summed as "New Threat Upgrade, Hell lotta Reds to kill", Changes include, but not limited too -VLS Spruance -VLS Tico -Franklin class Submarine with Tomahawkalypse -LA Sub w/Tomahawks -Better Radar -SM-1 & SM-2 Range double, triple, quadruple in capability -Harpoon enters 3-digit ranges
the gun was real and was tested in the 70's aboard the USS Hull a small destroyer, a bad choice of test ship as the fwd part of the hull flexed badly when firing off a salvo leading to inaccurate shot placement.....the bean counters assumed the system was flawed an canned it. CGN9 was supposed to get 2 of the mk71s in her what if AEGIS refit. I have a cool artist impression painting copy of it.. NTU ships got SM2ER for the ships with the mk10 launcher (Long Beach, Belknap, Leahy class and the Mahan DDG42 got it as she was the test ship for the NTU for Terrier equipped vessels. Tartar equipped vessels with the mk13 launcher got SM2MR giving them a huge range increase over SM1MR....both California class CGNs got it, as well as the last 2 Virginia's (which where always designed to get SM2MR but it wasn't ready when they where!), the Adam's class was going to get it but they decided to save the money for the DDG51s instead..
Long Beach got upgraded to SM2ER (120 missiles (40 in fwd launcher, 80 in second launcher) with better radars, etc, plus ASROC launcher with reloads. Infact the Long Beach still exists the remains of her hull (midships section containing the reactor spaces) is in storage a Puget Sound Naval base
@@still_guns no the Virginia's, Cali's and Truxtun and Bainbridge used smaller reactors similar in size to a sub reactor so they got completely scrapped (from 1994 to 2000)with the reactor compartments buried at the Hanaford reactor containment site. Long Beach has much bigger reactor spaces and they still haven't worked out how to get them to the storage site!! As you can see from my thumbnail pic I have a RC model of California (and one of Long beach too!!) both in 1/72 scale.... done lots of research!!
There is already plenty of room for a more complete roster without any new hulls, e.g. Adams class with original Tartar loadout, Farragut with Terrier, etc. Same is true for the Soviet side, there were many upgrades to the SA-N-1 from the early '60s to early '80s which aren't represented. We essentially have the '80s version of the Adams and the '60s version of the Kashin, but that would be a low hanging fruit to fix and quite nice to have for historically accurate scenarios throughout the games timeline. Also, USS Long Beach please. Best-looking ship the USN ever had.
Sea Powers NATO side needs much more NOT American ships from the 1950's-1980's time period. British warships, French ships, Italian ships, German ships. And also Dutch war ships, as the Seven Provinces class cruisers, later sold to Peru. And the Karel Doorman aircraft carrier, and the destroyers of the Friesland class (existing in the browser game "World of Warships") and the van Speijk class frigates, they were based on the British Leander class frigates. And the Tromp class frigates with their striking-looking radar dome.
the Albany class were retrofitted with dual purpose surplus open-mount Mk 24 mount 5-in/38 dual purpose (many were retired from Fletcher class destroyers during their DDE and FRAM modernization's), installed on the port and starboard sides close to the aft exhaust stack.
Considering the game claims to be set in naval combat between the 60s and 80s (honestly, they might as well make it 'till 1991), I've toyed with the idea that there should be a 1950s DLC w/ the Korean War campaign (maybe some colonial war campaigns) and a 1990s DLC w/ the Gulf War and the Bosnian War campaign so we can play with new and old toys alike. However, that would likely be on of the last things to be in the game, even after EA. I've been interested in a "Nuclear-powered Ship" free update for Sea Power w/ the various CGNs and their variants along with the venerable USS Enterprise. I also want the USS Midway, that WW2 ship served all the way to OP Desert Storm. Finally, I'd love to have the British units, but on the other hand, why the hell do I have use god-forsaken SeaCats? Anyway, I'd really want more French ships so I can officially round out my Dance of the Vampires fleet I'm drafting... then again, I need to figure out how to replace the F4s on the Forrestal's... I just realized, we need more Vietnam era aircraft like the Skyhawk or Skyraider.
I had no idea you did channel dash. You should do an American inverse of it. It's been the only scenario yet that really felt like needing to use and manage the carrier and it's flights and engage in some air combat to advance. All American carrier missions also only ever seems to have them engaging frigates and patrol craft instead of cruisers like you arranged
on the Albany class the 5" guns are on platforms just aft of the second Mack (combined mast and stack)..... the Talos missile stockpile got used up as target drones
I really want to see the Des Moines class represented. I love cruisers (I was a cruiser main in WoWs), I love gun ships, and I love the Des Moines, the best all gun heavy cruiser class put to sea.
some ships i would love to see would be the Alaska class Supercruisers/Battlecruisers specifically some of the guided missile conversions for USS Hawaii, the idea of VLS V2 short range ballistic missiles is funny
also in the modified cruisers was USS Boston and USS Canberra which had their aft turrets replaced with two early Terrier launchers and still had 2 triple 8" turrets
Hope we get more early cold war vessels, like a 1968 version of the New Jersey. Modern versions of the older carriers, aka be able to swap the f4s for f14s.
I would like to see the Soviet carriers like Admiral Kuznetsov and/or Ulyanovsk {The carrier that was 40% completed IRL). Also the rest of the Kirov class battlecruisers like Frunze, Admiral Nakhimov and Pyotr Veliky, whom were armed with 1x twin AK-130 naval gun (Unlike the Kirov in game, which is armed with 2x AK-100 naval guns) and the new Kashtan CIWS as a replacement for the AK-630 CIWS
Piggy backing off of the Iowa class, I would love to see USS New Jersey's Vietnam era configuration. She'd have all her 5" guns but would carry 4 Zuni rocket launchers. I'd also like to see a few Cold War era gun ships. Even though its missile age, I'd love to see Newport News (which was a Des Moines) or St. Paul. The Boston's would make a fantastic addition since we already have the Galveston class light missile cruisers
Des Moines Class in general would be lovely. Providence class too (including the non-fleet flagship variants I mentioned). UK gun cruisers, like HMS Belfast perhaps, or at least Tiger class. French cruisers like Courbet and De Grasse. General Belgrano... the list goes on.
I would like to see my father's ship, the USS Truxton in the game. Otherwise, I would like to see more ships from the late 40s through 50s in the game. Edit: The Tico's and Spruances have the same hull.
This game would be complete if it had a damage physics modelled in for infinite new punctures and blast holes in the deck etc its a bit date to just have explosions appear to have no effect and just a few standard black burn marks that appear by default after the first hit
I would like more detailed damage models too, but right now what we've got is okay. It's still early access, maybe they'll do something more complex later on.
@still_guns ya I dunno , it's been like since cold waters , and war on the sea , and well...all games. It doesn't have to be realistic to the point of working out different materials and so on. But even a sort of broken blocks system and a bit of cosmetic smoke and fire to obscure it from looking to Much like Lego blocks
I hope we get nato ships from the 1960s to present day. That way I can make crazy missions. I am waiting for more content to come out to buy this game. I wish they would have an desert storm campaign, bosia and kosvo 1999 war and Gulf War 2. Last, the ability to do naval amphibious assaults and control ground units.
why does everyone just accept that to make this game what it claims to be, there will need to be 3-4 paid for DLCs?, a total rip off. I really wanted this, but no way am I spending what will be around £100 to actually get a finished product.

@@Wolfe351 If that small section of Long Beach still exists, does that mean small sections of the Virginia class cruisers also remain?
USS enterprise can 65 would be a great addition
Sea Powers NATO side needs much more NOT American ships from the 1950's-1980's time period. British warships, French ships, Italian ships, German ships. And also Dutch war ships, as the Seven Provinces class cruisers, later sold to Peru. And the Karel Doorman aircraft carrier, and the destroyers of the Friesland class (existing in the browser game "World of Warships") and the van Speijk class frigates, they were based on the British Leander class frigates. And the Tromp class frigates with their striking-looking radar dome.
HMS Bristol is definitely my pick as well. What a beautiful monster.
the Albany class were retrofitted with dual purpose surplus open-mount Mk 24 mount 5-in/38 dual purpose (many were retired from Fletcher class destroyers during their DDE and FRAM modernization's), installed on the port and starboard sides close to the aft exhaust stack.
The talos missiles have a nuclear warhead so they can kill a fleet with a single shot
@@aaro4224 Crumbs...
The editor managers time frame is from ‘47 to ‘91 so I think we’re see ships from time frame.
I’d like to se other navies too like the Royal Spanish navy, and the Royal danish navy
Strawberries is a set piece battle between a Soviet SAG and US CVBG, but is extraordinarily US sided given the circumstances
would be nice also to add French, Italian and Yugoslavian units for the Mediterranean Sea
The various Standard missile variants do no use the Terrier fuselage, but rather that of the RIM-24 Tartar.
I would like Long beach and Enterprise to be added; along with the Type 42 Destroyer, Type 22 and 23 Frigates, and the Invincible CVs for the UK.
on the Albany class the 5" guns are on platforms just aft of the second Mack (combined mast and stack)..... the Talos missile stockpile got used up as target drones
I wish the American ships had anything with VLS cells.
I really want to see the Des Moines class represented. I love cruisers (I was a cruiser main in WoWs), I love gun ships, and I love the Des Moines, the best all gun heavy cruiser class put to sea.
Des Moines versus Alaska... Fight!
😅
some ships i would love to see would be the Alaska class Supercruisers/Battlecruisers specifically some of the guided missile conversions for USS Hawaii, the idea of VLS V2 short range ballistic missiles is funny
Des Moines class served through Vietnam. Hope they add them.
also in the modified cruisers was USS Boston and USS Canberra which had their aft turrets replaced with two early Terrier launchers and still had 2 triple 8" turrets
Hope we get more early cold war vessels, like a 1968 version of the New Jersey. Modern versions of the older carriers, aka be able to swap the f4s for f14s.
If you want to play with a vls tico now use the NTU mod
its nice but not perfect, would be 100 times better if they added it to the base game
@ true but something is better than nothing
I would like to see the Soviet carriers like Admiral Kuznetsov and/or Ulyanovsk {The carrier that was 40% completed IRL). Also the rest of the Kirov class battlecruisers like Frunze, Admiral Nakhimov and Pyotr Veliky, whom were armed with 1x twin AK-130 naval gun (Unlike the Kirov in game, which is armed with 2x AK-100 naval guns) and the new Kashtan CIWS as a replacement for the AK-630 CIWS
For a paper ship I would like to see the uss Montana BB and maybe an Iowa refit version of it
CG-52 is USS Bunker Hill known for lainching some of the first land attack tomahawks in desert storm
Cold war naval game without CVN-65 and Essex-class cannot be a thing !!!
I would like to see my father's ship, the USS Truxton in the game. Otherwise, I would like to see more ships from the late 40s through 50s in the game.
Edit: The Tico's and Spruances have the same hull.
A minor correction, the Leahy class is pronounced "LAY-hee", rather than "LEE-high"
the USN is up to the SM6 variant still using the Terrier body (with some variation)
@Wolfe351 Damn, seems like Terrier was the perfect shell for a missile.
Last, the ability to do naval amphibious assaults and control ground units.
always hoped theyyd add uss long beach
Ship ideas?
VLS Tico
VLS Tico
VLS Tico
It's lay-HEE
Virginia class CGNs plz!🙂😍
Already in the game
The problem with VLS Tyco would be she would probably be too powerful for the game. The USSR doctrine would be severely hampered.
@@ReaderStuff Yeah, if the NTU mod is anything to go by.
Future Ship Ideas?
take harpoon 3....and upload ALL of the ships there.
have you played harpoon 3?
@badgerattoadhall No. Bit before my time I think.
@@still_guns you can still play it. it is the ultimate "hard sim" for naval games.
How about the other navies... You know, what a complete game would feature.
It’s an early access game lol
@Howard-j6e At basically full price while missing fundamental features
@@FMJIRISH can you not read? its early access, if you dont like it dont buy it
@gibbo_303 It's early access at pretty much full price.
Give us the CANADIANS!! 🇨🇦🍁
why does everyone just accept that to make this game what it claims to be, there will need to be 3-4 paid for DLCs?, a total rip off.
I really wanted this, but no way am I spending what will be around £100 to actually get a finished product.
thought the DLCs would be free not paid? even if they were paid its what every single game on steam does
Arleigh Burke class
