Selen was such a GREAT ASSET to Nijisanji EN it earned her malice from within the organization. What Nijisanji EN did as company/corporation and a few of its employees did to Selen recently is mind-bogglingly toxic and unintelligent. That company is a modern day example of industry unprofessionalism and lacks the fundamentals of confidential legal document handling.
This kinda reinforce the management rrat thing, when she started getting more subs and viewers than the other members, they tried everything to pull the rug under her.

To me it feels like a small group of managers fucking things up and niji doesn't want admit any wrongdoing. This pure speculation from clips and sayu story, I remember clearly that around the time xsoleil debuted, selen and the whole of xsoleil shared a manager. And according to sayu, it may be be wrong due to my misinterpretion , was a two week hire and do have any experience.
It's now an omen of graduation/termination because she sang that in Doki's old graduation before joining Nijisanji. Now that very song is a sign of her imminent departure from Nijisanji.
Nearly on the verge of collapsing, but I will do my best to share my thoughts below. With everything going on, I knew not a lot of people were going to highlight Selen's career at Nijisanji at length. I took on that role to make sure people didn't overlook Selen's trailblazer career during her time at Nijisanji. NGL, this was the most difficult vtuber video I made to date. From trying to find 800+ VODs that have been privated, to dealing with the jadedness of current events, and on the verge of collapsing for editing for nearly 3 days straight. I hope you get some value from watching this video. This is going to be my last video on anything Nijisanji related. I'm just sick of seeing any type of content associated with that black company and at this point I don't anyone is going to get any new worthwhile info from that company. Instead, I will continue to highlight other legendary vtubers in this space. I sincerely thank everyone's support on this project. I'm so happy you spent the majority of the video highlighting Selen's accomplishments and celebrating her. Here's to her return as Dokibird and may she have sunny days from here on out.
An interesting case study to analyze here is how Selen Tatsuki is effectively the same type of person Amelia Watson was in Hololive EN's first wave. For both, neither really cover the requirements that you'd expect from a corporate Idol VTuber. Neither are particularly outstanding singers, neither has very marketable talents as advertisers, hell Ame doesn't even have a god gamer status. They have charisma for sure, but that's a given in their field as streamers. Instead what makes both shine is their initiative and their proactivity. Both have a lot of creative endeavors, both are highly resourceful and can quickly gather teams to execute projects, both have ambition to go above and beyond what's expected of them. Amelia tells the story of Hololive seeing this talent in Amelia and fully supporting it. With Amelia herself spearheading a lot of the most memorable moments not just in Holo Myth but also Council as well. Selen tells the other story, one where Niji never truly appreciated the talent in their hands, never really supporting her endeavors but always eager to claim her efforts and successes as their own achievements. The end result is clear too. Amelia is still a monumental figure not just in Hololive, but also VTubing in the west and a symbol that one doesn't need to have a superhuman talent to be an idol. And Dokibird will forever be a reminder that freedom from the clutches of a corporation that wishes to own you as a person is far better than any fame and success they can offer you instead.
My headcanon is that Selen and Mumei together are the Linkin Park of vtubing. They'd be a dynamic musical duo. I want them collab more often now that's she's free from hell (Kurosanji), hopefully more musical collabs can be part of that. I've always wanted to see them release music together and see what their chemistry is like. Also, bonus story about Selen, but back in March, Selen held an art contest for her community to design her next outfit. There were 5 winners with 1st prize becoming her next outfit. Selen wanted to award each artist $1k each, but because Kurosanji refused to pay the artists themselves, Selen went out of her way to pay them the money herself out of her own pocket, and the entire vtubing community was pissed at Kurosanji over that. And then she was banned to host out of branch tournaments later on, and community was angry at them again. Kurosanji really didn't deserve her and it shows. Thank God she's free from that hellscape of a corporation. She's finally a freebird! The queen has returned! 🏆 Also, I'm glad that I could help you again. It means a lot to me to know that I random knowledge can come in handy out of nowhere. Yes, I watch way too many vtuber clips. That's how I gain my knowledge lmao.
IIRC, Niji did not want her to do the contest and was opposed to Selen wish to rewards the artist herself. She had to fight for that and she never implied that she tried to make niji pay for the price.

Selen was just one of those vtubers that everyone knew about, she shined across company lines, she wasn't afraid to go against the grain and her iconic laughter brought everyone together! Now that she's (hopefully) out of the grasp of kurosanji (because Kyo's friend, Daph, is trying to start MORE drama) she can focus on her community and reach for the stars!
This is by far the best video touching on the subject of Selen/Doki’s work. I’m so happy you focused more on her achievements, on everything she’s done not only for Niji but for the EN vtubing community as a whole. When people who weren’t familiar with Selen before her termination hear that she organised “projects” they’re stunned by the costs, of course, but I don’t think they truly grasp the extent to which she’d push herself to deliver them (nor the sheer scale of said projects). Im honestly so glad she never got to follow through on her attempts. She is an amazing streamer and im glad we didnt lose that chaotic laugh. Shes been my oshi since her debut those couple years ago. And im glad shes free. Nobody deserves to go through what she did. Just glad shes still with us
I am just glad that Selen did not die. I did not find out until a few days ago. I had enjoyed some of her content but never subscribed or became one of the Dragoons. I was wondering what happened to her when her content disappeared from RUclips. It is very emotionally, hurtful when one's former employer screws ya over, big time and then some. Glad that this V-Tuber was able to rebuild and resurrect herself as Dokibird. A name that I have to get used to.
I am also one of those like you. I found her from shorts, cuZ Selen is legit fps player and i love her laugh. So i started following her clippers. I also voted for her in Filian's The Vtuber Award show. Then, those news pop up about hiatus and sickness. When i heard about the thing. I was so sad and so mad. I was also Pika main, so i already saw tons of bs like what Nijisanji were paddling. Just talking aboutt it makes my heart pump. I guess many of us felt the same way at the time. We shouldn't let Pika,Zaion and Selen things happen again. Now, im sorta regular on her stream. ❤
AnyKuro should realize how much of a beautiful and motivated human being they lost with their mismanagement. Doki was able to bridge the worlds of Vtubing and competitive gaming together and had the potential to create something unique to the Vtuber world with her FPS oriented angle. And that company did nothing but create roadblocks for her to make it difficult every single step of the way. I hope that the talents that remain - the ones that still support her realize they are better off going indie and realize their self worth. People follow for the soul that is behind that character, this has been repeatedly shown with all the reincarnations that happened in the Vtuber world. To the remaining EN Niji talents, you deserve better. You should know your worth, and with the fan base you built, they need you more than you need them. Well made video, succinctly describes why Dokibird, much like Coco and Kizuna Ai is a pioneer in her own right. I think she has the potential to create her own talent team consisting entirely of skilled FPS players if she wanted to.
This vid is pinching my soul in so many spots. I actually started to forget about whole situation, what they did and after all what she bring to that company. I just tried to roll with her approach of not bringing bad thing that happened even with those who involved and move on to make new happy memories. And yeah, it really doesn't worth spending your time being mad at that company instead of being happy with creators you support, but damn niji made themselves a history one should never forget.
I do not follow Selen religiously but from what I do know and from this video, you know it's kind of damning for 9634 when all throughout her career, it looks like she has more help and behind the scenes collaboration with indies and vtubers from Cover. Like, in hindsight, whenever she talks about the details about her projects, it's always been someone outside of her company. And we do know that Selen is very eager to make it known to her audience about who else is helping her (if she isn't keeping it a surprise). And if anything, she actually goes ahead and asks the people who own the IP personally or gives proposals. So... what leg does ArseCorp's EN management even stand on when they couldn't even do this for her and just delay her into oblivion with red tape? Edit: Also I wanna point out the momentary hilarity of Selen interrupting Altare mid-speech if he killed Vox in his introduction lore for APEX. It hits different now.
I never knew how much effort she put into promoting her fellow members in her works... The fact that they'd all slander her so severely and suddenly after all that she did for them is absolutely disgusting
Same goes for Pomu too. They denied her a major collaboration that she wanted to do, which many speculate was with Metal Gear. Among other things, in spite of everything she’s done for Niji, they only really stood in her way
Selen is legitimately the Ame of Nijisanji. But instead of support, all she got was scorn and ridicule. One is sent off with hate while the other is about to be sent off by love. Hope these FPS legends meet in the future.
Dang, i can only imagine how she must have felt during her time in kurosanji. All the hard work and achievements amounting to nothing. She does the management job better then the actual manager to the point then company was holding her back!

Well done video, I found Doki when she carried me to a win in Apex years ago so i subbed to her and I've been here ever since. She has always been a hard worker that loves her fans and she always had that big streamer energy even back then, I knew she was going to be huge one day it just sucks that it happend the way it did and I'm glad she is still here. And we need to convince her to sing more, she has an amazing voice but she just refuses to believe it.

You didn't mention this in the video but it was Dokis parents that saved her during both attempts, and yes there were two as per what she herself said. Glad they were able to and as I tweeted at her a couple weeks back, I hope she stays with us for a long time.
The fact that she did all these things with the humility she had became the reason why pretty much all vendors, artists, and business partners took her side when shit hit the fan, excuse my language. Even twitch checked in, and that says a lot. Edited partner to business partner, cuz clearly partners in Niji didn't take her side.
Elira being in Japan while Niji EN just "coincidentally" posts a wanted position for manager. Her channel being chosen to host that infamous announcement stream. Elira knows her vtuber career is done and will graduate. However, she will remain on board to continue leading EN's management. After that, keep an eye on who gets approval for projects. Collabs, song covers, all that. That will debunk Vox's "no favoritism" comment. This is me just speculating.

Seeeing the recent stuff everywhere ,i feel recognizing her wins is as important as highlighting her pains and losses. You are awesome at these videos Yiman. Its ironical she used to think she isnt really contributing when she is probably the most contributing and most equipped to be a vtube streamer. Got a good vouce can game is family and extremely communicative to fans and nice. Knows her fair share of organizing stuffs , has interesting creative ideas and doesnt procrastinate on those ideas. She is , in idealistic terms ,for me atleast one of the Finest vtubers or streamers. Good video focusing on a lot of her success which other videos don’t go over. Also one thing I appreciated seeing was how she respected Ame so much which I didn’t know before. As a fan of Kiara it reminds me of how great Kiara’s final call with Pomu was before the graduation. Kiara really gave Pomu so much respect and love in that stream while even stating she never really bothered with considering the Niji girls as rivals. I’m glad they’ll continue to be friends behind the scenes. Same as Doki and Mumei it’s a beautiful friendship and it’s nice seeing it
I really do enjoy your videos, most others only talk about how much the event sucked and what happened as a result, they never actually tell us just why these people mattered, what was their mark on history. So thank you for these stories you bring back.
This was a great video. And, I’m not sure if you know this, but a few weeks after Selen’s (Dokibird’s) first attempt to “unalive” herself, she made a second attempt to “unalive” herself, because she was alone in a very dark place (her mental health was basically blasted to hell, by Kurosanji [Nijisanji]). Thankfully, her parents found her before it was too late. Now, she has an amazing support system in place, and is working towards restoring her mental health. Lastly, I think it would be an amazing show of compassion and goodwill towards Dokibird, if she received free streaming tickets to watch her friend Nanashi Mumei perform at Hololive Super Expo 2024/5th Fes.

Seems par for the course. I work for a corporation currently, and I’ve seen a lot of people with the same work ethic as Selen get beaten down by the lack of care and acknowledgment.
She was TOO GOOD for Niji. Niji Management is ignorant, lazy, and doesn't provide enough support for the Talents under their care. Meanwhile Selen always breaking walls, ambitious and love to make projects involving a lot of people. That's why Niji Management shackled her and became her burden instead of became her ally in the Company.
Bro I got teary eyed watching this, I never really had the time to reminisce the past years I spent watching Selen because of everything that's going on. Kuro had a similar reaction of disbelief, and we all know about Doki's awe and respect for Mr Man. Mousey was so shocked by Matara and the dog's reports that she broke her personal rule about drama and shittalking when she wondered out loud about just how bad things must be over there. Zaion's document indicated that above all else, there's no leadership or direction at EN. The GURRAT theorizises that Elira and the rest of her lunatics have taken over the asylum because of this void. Whatever the truth is, the dysfunction is plain to see
This was absolutely beautiful. Being buried in my college work for the last several years, and only just beginning to really get to peak into RUclips and streamers, I didn't have the privilege to see her work before Dokibird. I am so glad she made it through and my heart goes out to the streamers that are still on lockdown within that company.

you know, i never really watched any on the nijilivers or corpo vtubers in general except for a few clips here and there that seemed funny, after getting aware of all this insanity that was happening on social media i actually went and see who this girl was whom i only recognize by design if anything, and when i saw her redebut stream on her old account she really seemed like a sweet and very hardworking girl, i've been cheking more of doki on her recent videos and she's so fun and the more i know about her story, she's also very inspiring. I wish her all the best in her future, i'll be watching more of her now, she sounds very happy now and i hope she stays like that.

Though I'm always on the sideline when it comes to nijisanji, I've always noticed how impressive Selen is and how much of a gem she was in that group. It seriously BLOWS my mind when I first learn how she's being treated by nijisanji. To me if theres one person who is untouchable thanks to their contribution, she'd be the top one. The way this whole situation turns from bad to worst to unforgivable is just crazy. And for it to happen to someone as bright as her, learning that it literally almost took her life, I am still lost for words...

Cant believe they let such a gem go. Just look at niji now, when's the last time they had any big events other than the typical events from niji management themselves. it's such a stark difference from when selen was in the company. Even collabs between niji and outside of niji have decreased drastically due to the fact that alot of the vtubers took her's side or stayed neutral and not want to associate with them. It's like looking at a caged box now.

Nearly on the verge of collapsing, but I will do my best to share my thoughts below.
With everything going on, I knew not a lot of people were going to highlight Selen's career at Nijisanji at length. I took on that role to make sure people didn't overlook Selen's trailblazer career during her time at Nijisanji.
NGL, this was the most difficult vtuber video I made to date. From trying to find 800+ VODs that have been privated, to dealing with the jadedness of current events, and on the verge of collapsing for editing for nearly 3 days straight. I hope you get some value from watching this video.
This is going to be my last video on anything Nijisanji related. I'm just sick of seeing any type of content associated with that black company and at this point I don't anyone is going to get any new worthwhile info from that company. Instead, I will continue to highlight other legendary vtubers in this space.

An interesting case study to analyze here is how Selen Tatsuki is effectively the same type of person Amelia Watson was in Hololive EN's first wave.
For both, neither really cover the requirements that you'd expect from a corporate Idol VTuber. Neither are particularly outstanding singers, neither has very marketable talents as advertisers, hell Ame doesn't even have a god gamer status. They have charisma for sure, but that's a given in their field as streamers.
Instead what makes both shine is their initiative and their proactivity. Both have a lot of creative endeavors, both are highly resourceful and can quickly gather teams to execute projects, both have ambition to go above and beyond what's expected of them.
Amelia tells the story of Hololive seeing this talent in Amelia and fully supporting it. With Amelia herself spearheading a lot of the most memorable moments not just in Holo Myth but also Council as well.
Selen tells the other story, one where Niji never truly appreciated the talent in their hands, never really supporting her endeavors but always eager to claim her efforts and successes as their own achievements.
The end result is clear too. Amelia is still a monumental figure not just in Hololive, but also VTubing in the west and a symbol that one doesn't need to have a superhuman talent to be an idol.
And Dokibird will forever be a reminder that freedom from the clutches of a corporation that wishes to own you as a person is far better than any fame and success they can offer you instead.
Funny that you mentioned how Selen is similar to Amelia because Selen said her biggest inspiration to become a vTubers was Amelia Watson :)
My headcanon is that Selen and Mumei together are the Linkin Park of vtubing. They'd be a dynamic musical duo. I want them collab more often now that's she's free from hell (Kurosanji), hopefully more musical collabs can be part of that. I've always wanted to see them release music together and see what their chemistry is like.
Also, bonus story about Selen, but back in March, Selen held an art contest for her community to design her next outfit. There were 5 winners with 1st prize becoming her next outfit. Selen wanted to award each artist $1k each, but because Kurosanji refused to pay the artists themselves, Selen went out of her way to pay them the money herself out of her own pocket, and the entire vtubing community was pissed at Kurosanji over that. And then she was banned to host out of branch tournaments later on, and community was angry at them again. Kurosanji really didn't deserve her and it shows. Thank God she's free from that hellscape of a corporation. She's finally a freebird! The queen has returned! 🏆

I’m so happy you focused more on her achievements, on everything she’s done not only for Niji but for the EN vtubing community as a whole. When people who weren’t familiar with Selen before her termination hear that she organised “projects” they’re stunned by the costs, of course, but I don’t think they truly grasp the extent to which she’d push herself to deliver them (nor the sheer scale of said projects). Im honestly so glad she never got to follow through on her attempts. She is an amazing streamer and im glad we didnt lose that chaotic laugh. Shes been my oshi since her debut those couple years ago. And im glad shes free. Nobody deserves to go through what she did. Just glad shes still with us
I am just glad that Selen did not die. I did not find out until a few days ago. I had enjoyed some of her content but never subscribed or became one of the Dragoons. I was wondering what happened to her when her content disappeared from RUclips. It is very emotionally, hurtful when one's former employer screws ya over, big time and then some. Glad that this V-Tuber was able to rebuild and resurrect herself as Dokibird. A name that I have to get used to.

I also voted for her in Filian's The Vtuber Award show. Then, those news pop up about hiatus and sickness. When i heard about the thing. I was so sad and so mad. I was also Pika main, so i already saw tons of bs like what Nijisanji were paddling. Just talking aboutt it makes my heart pump.
I guess many of us felt the same way at the time. We shouldn't let Pika,Zaion and Selen things happen again.

AnyKuro should realize how much of a beautiful and motivated human being they lost with their mismanagement. Doki was able to bridge the worlds of Vtubing and competitive gaming together and had the potential to create something unique to the Vtuber world with her FPS oriented angle.
And that company did nothing but create roadblocks for her to make it difficult every single step of the way.
I hope that the talents that remain - the ones that still support her realize they are better off going indie and realize their self worth. People follow for the soul that is behind that character, this has been repeatedly shown with all the reincarnations that happened in the Vtuber world.
To the remaining EN Niji talents, you deserve better. You should know your worth, and with the fan base you built, they need you more than you need them.
Well made video, succinctly describes why Dokibird, much like Coco and Kizuna Ai is a pioneer in her own right. I think she has the potential to create her own talent team consisting entirely of skilled FPS players if she wanted to.
This vid is pinching my soul in so many spots. I actually started to forget about whole situation, what they did and after all what she bring to that company. I just tried to roll with her approach of not bringing bad thing that happened even with those who involved and move on to make new happy memories. And yeah, it really doesn't worth spending your time being mad at that company instead of being happy with creators you support, but damn niji made themselves a history one should never forget.

I do not follow Selen religiously but from what I do know and from this video, you know it's kind of damning for 9634 when all throughout her career, it looks like she has more help and behind the scenes collaboration with indies and vtubers from Cover. Like, in hindsight, whenever she talks about the details about her projects, it's always been someone outside of her company. And we do know that Selen is very eager to make it known to her audience about who else is helping her (if she isn't keeping it a surprise). And if anything, she actually goes ahead and asks the people who own the IP personally or gives proposals. So... what leg does ArseCorp's EN management even stand on when they couldn't even do this for her and just delay her into oblivion with red tape?
Edit: Also I wanna point out the momentary hilarity of Selen interrupting Altare mid-speech if he killed Vox in his introduction lore for APEX. It hits different now.

Its ironical she used to think she isnt really contributing when she is probably the most contributing and most equipped to be a vtube streamer. Got a good vouce can game is family and extremely communicative to fans and nice. Knows her fair share of organizing stuffs , has interesting creative ideas and doesnt procrastinate on those ideas.
She is , in idealistic terms ,for me atleast one of the Finest vtubers or streamers.
Even in traditional aspects of vtubers , elements of idol culture she thought she isnt good at it i find her stuff quite great. Niji keeps losing diamonds.

As a fan of Kiara it reminds me of how great Kiara’s final call with Pomu was before the graduation. I’m glad they’ll continue to be friends behind the scenes. Same as Doki and Mumei it’s a beautiful friendship and it’s nice seeing it

I really do enjoy your videos, most others only talk about how much the event sucked and what happened as a result, they never actually tell us just why these people mattered, what was their mark on history. So thank you for these stories you bring back.
This was a great video. And, I’m not sure if you know this, but a few weeks after Selen’s (Dokibird’s) first attempt to “unalive” herself, she made a second attempt to “unalive” herself, because she was alone in a very dark place (her mental health was basically blasted to hell, by Kurosanji [Nijisanji]). Thankfully, her parents found her before it was too late.
Now, she has an amazing support system in place, and is working towards restoring her mental health.
Lastly, I think it would be an amazing show of compassion and goodwill towards Dokibird, if she received free streaming tickets to watch her friend Nanashi Mumei perform at Hololive Super Expo 2024/5th Fes.
seeing how many projects she did and how it's all self funded even for other livers and now how the other livers who benefited from it stabbed her in the back after her attempt and termination makes me more angry to niji en. they don't deserve her

Seems par for the course. I work for a corporation currently, and I’ve seen a lot of people with the same work ethic as Selen get beaten down by the lack of care and acknowledgment.
She was TOO GOOD for Niji. Niji Management is ignorant, lazy, and doesn't provide enough support for the Talents under their care. Meanwhile Selen always breaking walls, ambitious and love to make projects involving a lot of people. That's why Niji Management shackled her and became her burden instead of became her ally in the Company.

you know, i never really watched any on the nijilivers or corpo vtubers in general except for a few clips here and there that seemed funny, after getting aware of all this insanity that was happening on social media i actually went and see who this girl was whom i only recognize by design if anything, and when i saw her redebut stream on her old account she really seemed like a sweet and very hardworking girl, i've been cheking more of doki on her recent videos and she's so fun and the more i know about her story, she's also very inspiring. It seriously BLOWS my mind when I first learn how she's being treated by nijisanji. To me if theres one person who is untouchable thanks to their contribution, she'd be the top one.
The way this whole situation turns from bad to worst to unforgivable is just crazy. And for it to happen to someone as bright as her, learning that it literally almost took her life, I am still lost for words...

What most people don't know is Doki was Doki before she became Selen. She just went back to Doki after Selen.
I still wonder what would have happened if Selen (Dokibird) joined to Holo and not Niji 🤔🤔🤔
Cant believe they let such a gem go. Just look at niji now, when's the last time they had any big events other than the typical events from niji management themselves. it's such a stark difference from when selen was in the company. Even collabs between niji and outside of niji have decreased drastically due to the fact that alot of the vtubers took her's side or stayed neutral and not want to associate with them. It's like looking at a caged box now.
