Unboxing and Review UGREEN 8K 60Hz HDMI SPLITTER SWITCH CM561

What happens when you want to connect your laptop to your TV/Monitor occasionally but the HDMI slots are already taken by your other devices? Or perhaps you want to connect multiple consoles but your TV/projector has only one HDMI port?
This is when the UGREEN 2 in 1 HDMI 2.1 splitter switch comes in handy.
The UGREEN CM561 has a tiny footprint of 64mm x 48mm x 15mm and
after connecting all the cables, you can expect it to take about 15cm in length.
The device is supposedly enclosed in an aluminium case covered with some ABS plastic, but somehow the enclosure of the CM561 feels warmer compared to its DISPLAYPORT(DP) version CM665.
Still, the design looks premium and yet so lightweight that you are able to stick it anywhere with a 3M tape if you want.
UGREEN has integrated some lovely padding in its design and you may also use it as a docking station at your work desk for easier connectivity for a work laptop etc.
Switching between displays is really easy with a press of a button instead of the hassle of reaching for the HDMI ports at the back of your screen each time. It does not switch automatically which is perfect for a final confirmation before sharing your screen to the display.
The dongle supports resolutions up to 8K, 60Hz and although I don't have an expensive 8K device, it is good to know that it is ready when 8K becomes more affordable.
It is a plug and play device with no installation required with support for
HDMI 2.1 and multiple audio Formats. One thing you do need to note is that it needs to be powered by a 5V 1A USB which you can either use an old power adapter or simply using the USB port on your TV.
Out of the box, the USB C cable and a special 1m HDMI cable is included which is recommended by UGREEN to use for the output signal. This is basically their 8K HDMI cables which you can also buy in other lengths .
I am using it for 60Hz 1080p so the connection is not really an issue but you may want to take note what is the guaranteed performance in terms of resolution and wire gauge by UGREEN.
While the CM561 I am using is an older version unidirectional one, do note that UGREEN has since my purchase released a bidirectional version under the same model number.
There's also a couple of known limitation of what it can or cannot do.(Unfortunately, I do not own a 27" ASUS Strix 2k monitor nor an Intel ARC GPU for testing.)
Overall the UGREEN HDMI switch may not be the cheapest one you can find out there but what I know is that I have yet to be disappointed by the quality and durability UGREEN provides.

Hello, thank you for reaching out! Yes, you can allow the switching between two displays for your PS5 by using the 1 input 2 output connection.
Make sure you get the bi-directional version for this to work. Hope it helps.

Hello there! Thank you for reaching out. It's a great question, the CM561 switch supports hdmi 2.1 48Gbps which will work with HDCP encryption capable HDMI cables.
To answer your question, yes it will work only if you get the right HDMI cables. Those 8K ones from UGREEN I've put in my video description will work fine to support HDCP.
Do note the length of the cable you're getting as I mentioned in my video, the cable run will affect the max resolution which the CM561 can support.

Thank you for reaching out. The display switch is just a bridge between your devices so whatever it can support depends on the source and output devices.
Do refer to the part of my video where I shown the detailed table of the supported resolutions and refresh rates in relation to the distance of the HDMI cables for the best results.
