Dan said his tears in Son of Pain were not actually about sadness - but just emotional because he overcame a severe depression and this song speaks to him about that
I'm so glad you chose this cover from Dan. When you stated at the beginning that you would judge this song harshly, I smiled and got excited because I just knew what was coming. Watching your face was priceless. Thank you for your enthusiastic reaction! I know you'll be checking out more of his covers, and I trust the suggestions from other comments as Dan's fans seem to have a knack for knowing what to recommend based on the particular reactor involved. Can't wait for more.
Dan is classically trained and was actually a vocal coach for a time. He is amazing! I don't tend to listen to very much metal, but I can listen to Dan! I started following him when I heard his Amazing Grace, which is another one of his awesome songs that I love. Thanks for your great reaction!!
Dan's performance of "Music of the Night" from Phantom of the Opera is the most awesome performance I've EVER heard! Even the Broadway actor, no diss intended, doesn't hold a candle to Dan! ❤️
And now you know why this was recommended as insanely good! :) Also, in that section where he cut off the note that some hold all the way through, that was a stylistic choice, probably for more dramatic effect. You want to see breath control, watch my next recommendation of Black Wind Fire and Steel. :)
@@crystalinahenry4104 BWF&S is absolutely incredible, unbelievable, EPIC. I agree with Dan’s choice of holding that note. It made the later one he didn’t hold more dramatic.
This is one of my favorites from Dan. Another reactor has said that Dan becomes the song, and that's so true. But - the look on your face when Dan went into those high metal fry screams was priceless. Really enjoyed your reaction. Head on down the Dan Vasc rabbit hole. You won't be disappointed. As far as breath control, I think the longest I ever heard Dan hold a high note was something like 30-35 seconds. That was in a heavy metal song called Black Wind Fire and Steel. So it's not that Dan doesn't have the breath control to hold that note, it was simply a stylistic choice. Like you, I prefer the way Dan approached it.
This is the best performance of Gethsemane, hands down. Taking the song & making it his own is Dan Vasc's specialty. The power, the emotion he shows and the sheer control he has over his voice is phenomenal. He rarely disappoints, enjoy the rabbit hole.❤️🤘✝️🌹🦉
One of the main focuses Dan does with his music is that he wants to empower the people who listen to his performances. He's an all-around genuinely good man and he does believe in God.
What a masterpiece by Dan, brilliant. Every time I hear and see this song by him I get goosebumps. It is so moving, captivating and emotional like no other I have ever seen. The way Dan manages to make every song he covers his own is impressive. Thank you for your wonderful reaction and insightful analysis of this epic cover by Dan. Continue to be curious and be surprised by his vocal abilities and his presence. And because I just saw that they are going to show "Go the Distance" by Tommy Johansson. Dan is doing another "Go the Distance" excerpt from the 1st cover in 2010 to his 100th in 2018, very moving. (just as a tip
Thanks for another great reaction. Don't miss Amazing Grace - unbelievable cover that will never be forgotten. His O Holy Night holds lots of surprises, too.
It is an experience to listen to and watch this masterpiece by Dan. Dan always manages to put the right emotion into every single performance. He tells a story and his voice makes you feel every word and every gesture. It's hard to believe that he performed this in his garage. He is not only a singer, but also an actor and an artist. Dan has well over 200 songs from metal, e.g. “Thunderstruck” -AC/DC cover, or “Battle Hymn” - Manowar cover, to opera, e.g. “Nessun Dorma” by Puccini on his RUclips channel. Thank you for your great reaction and I hope for more from Dan.
Dan is not only a phenomenal singer but also a soulful, fantastic performer who gives this particular song a display of his acting skills with his expressions, gestures, everything...❤️❤️❤️
Men who have sung Gethsemane in musicals/movie have done it well but Dan Vasc, with his vocal range and persona, makes him the best “Jesus Christ Superstar” and will bring you close to tears or you will cry.
Dan's is the best since the original Broadway actor/singer, Jeff Fenholt, did it live when the play first came out. Jeff's performance is on RUclips as a soundtrack only if you search Jesus Christ Superstar Broadway soundtrack album. He was so young at the time &, amazingly, he became a firey 🔥 Christian evangelist in his 30s until his recent death. His album, Hymns, is an amazing worship album that every Christian should have! ❤️ RIP, Jeff, in your Savior's arms & show that Heavenly Choir how it's done! 💞🤗
This performance demonstrates Dans vocals and acting abilities. He could easily perform on an opera stage, he is amazing. Thank you for reacting to this one! While I think Tommy’s voice is also beautiful, in my opinion, what separates them is the emotion Dan brings to every song. Dan has the talent to become the song, he captivates you until the end. Dan is as enjoyable to watch as he is to listen to. As for interviewing him, Dan rarely does personal interviews. He has a podcast called Bro Science that he does with Beardo that is weekly and he also has his own gaming channel called SuperVasc 3D. I can also tell you, Dan has no interest in record labels or touring live with his band. He is truly an independent and wants to stay that way. He has said many times, he will work for no one. He prefers to sing what, when and how he wants.
Thank you so much for this thoughtful and in-depth reaction! It's amazing how well you know the song and the musical. No matter the song, Dan always tells the story and delivers the music brilliantly. Enjoy!
My pleasure! Honestly I have always loved Theatre and this musical is just brilliant to me. The combination of the Bible and rock opera? Can't say I would have ever been game enough to write it but DAMN I love it!!
His performance is so powerful and full of emotion. That is what you will come to expect with Dan and you won't be disappointed. Thanks for your great reaction and I look forward to many more.
@grieverproductions2022 yes really.. Dan becomes the song.. he sings so much with emotion.... I think that you love dan vasc's one man choir also.. He did in totale 274 takes to make that one‼️
Absolutely stunning performance by Dan Vasc. His incredible vocal skills are unbelievable, but also his total musicality, character personification and story telling make this a brilliant, masterful performance. Goosebumps and tears every time I watch this. Thanks for a beautiful, thoughtful reaction - well done. Thank you so much! Watch his "Music of the Night" from Phantom!
This is one of my ultimate favorites of Dan. Thank you for your reaction and explanations. I super enjoy the fact you have your videos on a bigger screen. So many people who react have the whole screen filled with themselves and the singer is in this tiny square
Dan is more than just a singer, he performs his heart out with everything! You are going down a huge rabbit hole. Dan has done 245 songs. If you enjoy Disney listen to his version of "Mulan" it's awesome!!!
Dan vasc is so good with all of his covers ‼️🤗 Also did he bohemian rapsodie and even smooth Criminal.. Oww dan vasc did also One man Choir pf Handels Hallelujah ‼️‼️
Dan is so highly classically trained, but his emotions come from a place in his heart that a lot of us don't have. Between those two facets, he is one of the best of the best. There's a few really great you tubers out right now, but not one can beat or even match Dan's all around training and talent.
It's so great to hear your reaction, someone who really gets how amazing this man is. Dan was only recommended to me by Ytube in April of 2023 with "Amazing Grace" and I really regretted not hearing about him before. His versatility is something to behold and an absolute golden voice that is soo addictive. Can't wait to go on this journey with you. Thankyou😃
❤ have watched this so often.. always gives me chills, brings me to tears... his performances are almost beyond belief.... Loved your reaction... thank you So Much... ❤ Welcome to the wonderful world of Dan Vasc and his incredible music!!!!
Your reaction to Dan was great! I watched it twice. Although I am not at all religious, Dan singing this song gets to me every time I hear it. Dan can sing anything, and sing it well. What is astonishing is that he makes these wonderful recordings in his home/garage in Brazil. ( You should also add The Last Goodbye to your list.)
The last goodbye is on there! I am very keen. That's something I love about the musical is that you don't really need to be religious to enjoy it. It's the story of the end of the Bible from a different perspective and I think it's wonderful.
Dan is a chameleon. Nessun Dorma to Number of the Beast and so many different genres in between; musicals, Disney, 80’s, metal, opera, Christmas music in different languages, folk, Witcher, etc………Music of the Night from Phantom is incredible. Handel’s Messiah Hallelujah is mind blowing. Dan sang all 4 parts….soprano, alto, tenor and bari. There are 24 little Dans on the screen and it’s a 1 man choir. That video in particular means a lot to me because my late father and I would go to the Symphony every Christmas for a messiah audience singalong. I can’t sing but my dad was a beautiful tenor. So I’d stand the entire symphony and hone in on my dad’s voice and enjoy. I miss him (just 2 months ago) and listening to him sing. Hail VascNation ❤
A stunning and heart-wrenching performance, sung so beautifully and masterfully. The Music of the Night is also stellar. I’m subbing, eager to follow you down the Dan rabbit hole. Thanks so much for this great reaction and commentary. ❤️🎶
I subbed because i find the musical analysis fascinating! And it seems like you are doing all my fav RUclipsrs (Dan V, Tommy J, Erik G). Its really interesting to hear commentary on how they use their voices. I woyld suggest some songs but im sure you have a huge backlog already which ill just happliy watch!
I just caught my first view of your channel and your reaction to Dan Vasc and his "Gethsemane." I enjoyed your reaction to Dan's version of this song. You were articulate and showed a fair amount of emotion. There are a lot of good singers on RUclips, but Dan is easily my favorite. As with most people, no one likes ALL the songs their favorite artists perform. The first 3-4 times that I heard Dan sing this song, I was not too impressed at first. But, I kept coming back to it. Now, I believe that it is his most powerful performance. He always sings with a lot of emotion, where it is important. Dan has around 250 videos. I would like to suggest that you should run down the list and check out some of his more recommended videos. Especially ones like Amazing Grace, O Holy Night, My heart will go on, Nessun Dorma (because YES, Dan can sing it all, even opera), Thunder, Phantom, and others, after the recommendations of your followers. You, absolutely, will not be disappointed. I have added you to my list of favorite reactors. If you only listen to one or two more.... listen to Amazing Grace and Nessun Dorma. Seriously, Dan can sing it all!
I found a lot of artists through Dan. 2 other artists fro Brazil. 1. Voilet Orlandi, you can find her collaborating with Dan here, song called Kiss from a rose(phenominal). Another is Gabriel Henrique. 3 very talented artists coming from Brazil.
Dan shares a little sample of his journey in his “Go The Distance”. Tears, always tears on this one. Thank you for your reaction. Come down the Dan rabbit hole. The Vasc Nation is here. We all love Dan. He is epic.
The first Dan Vasc cover I heard was Sound of Silence and I’ve been a fan ever since. He truly is one of the best vocalists on the planet and no one does this song better. He puts his body, mind, soul and spirit into every song he sings from opera to heavy metal. You will never be disappointed listening to any of his 200+ covers. Loved listening to, and watching, you react to him. Thank you. 🙏 Subscribed and hope to hear more of your reactions to Dan. ❤
Dan Vasc is the most talented vocalists alive today. He embodies every performance that he does and is just a gift from God. Please check out some of Dan’s other covers, such as The Last Goodbye from the Hobbit movie, Danger Zone (Kenny Loggins) from Top Gun and Wake Me Up (Evanescence). Dan has a 4 octave range and I love everything he has ever done. #VascNation 🎉
Wake Me Up is called Bring Me to Life by Evanescence ., which I expect you know. Not correcting to make a point- just want you to be able to find the song to react to.
I have not found a cover of Dan’s where I prefer the original over Dan’s version. He is just that good! If Dan ever does this musical, count me in the audience!!! ❤ ❤I will be the one giving the 20 minute standing ovation!! 🎶💕
Merci. I love Dan. I’m 68 years old. I heard the first version Jesus Christ super star. Dan is phenomenal, incredibly insane and crazy. I love his voice, emotion, his work hour after hour of practice on music, voice, attitude. He is magical and angelic. I love, love love ⚜️🇨🇦 I’m French canadian.👏👏👏🤯❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥😇🫶✨
How fun! You've found Dan! He is an incredible vocalist. He has done so many different styles of songs and I'm always impressed. I think you should watch this one to see the metal side of Dan Vasc: ruclips.net/video/IMvRp94lUws/видео.html Please watch through the outro so you see a bit of him as well.
Dan is classically trained. You NEED to check out his version of "Music Of The Night". It's great!!! He also does "Phantom of the Opera" with an amazing singer named Dragica Maletic. Also "Kiss By A Rose" a duet he does with Violet Orlandi. He never tries to outsing his duet partner. He compliments them.
1999 percent agree. My favorite version of my favorite song. I have heard Gillan, Farnham, Balsamo, Nicholas, Fenholt, even Kermit the Frog. I have heard actors who can't sing, and singers who can't act. Dan does both nearly flawlessly. In The Gospel of Luke, who was a "doctor" he said Jesus sweated drops of blood in the garden of Gethsemane, and Dan is the first performer I have seen who makes me feel that.
Excellent reaction! I’ve heard this song many times in the four years since I’ve been a Dan fan, and you made me see it just as if it were the first time all over again. Well done!
I would recommend Music of the Night (best EVER!), Son of Pain, and his video of Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus" Where HE sings ALL of the parts! Dan is amazing! 💖
LOL, I was just thinking you haven’t heard metal Dan yet. And there he is with the big note. Also, Dan holding a note looooong isn’t an issues. With more reactions you will find out. I think you really need to find a song more “Dan” like My Mother Told Me or I’l Make a Man out of You, but definitely any of Dan’s Sabaton covers 😊 I’m looking forward to any Dan reactions that you do, and probably others that interest me along the way
Well i do have one suggestion - to showcase his breath control, you should listen to Black Wind Fire and Steel for a surprise note (hehehe, thats all im gonna say😂). That one is heavy metal so not sure its your favorite, but the breath control, insanity
@@grieverproductions2022 well then you have a really deep rabbit hole between Dan, Tommy, and Erik. I mean it's deep. So that will be fun and can run on a long time. I'm personally interested to hear more about voice techniques used for heavy metal like screaming and growling are even done without damaging the vocal chords. I'm amazed by it. Anyway it will be fun to hear more from you on these topics :)
I actually feel I'm watching a theatre stage performance, every time I'm watching Dan doing this, or any of his other musical pieces. You should check out his Phantom of the Opera pieces, they're quite something. On another note, a lot of reactors have made requests for interviews with Dan, but he hasn't yet accepted any of them, and very likely won't in any near future.
Seen quite a few different singers cover this. Dan does this piece better than the others I've seen. Saw the live show in Manchester in the UK earlier this year. Although it was amazing, still not quite as good as Dans cover. Wish it had more views - people really need to see his skill level. Thank you for your reaction to this!
You say you played Judas... I'd like to hear YOUR cover of his opening solo. I don't know the title offhand, but it starts, "My eyes are clearer now. At last I can see..."
Your reaction-analysis was excellent. When I watch Dan sing this there are places wher my bidy starts to hurt in reaction to his performance. Ther are vocal and isual places where the intence pain just hits. It takes a long while to recover from Dan’s performance. I watch it anyway, because it is exceptionally good.
Love your reaction and appreciation of Dan. It is common for new reactors to have no words. Your expressions during the performance said it all. I do hope you will do some more songs by Dan.
Absolutely will get to it. I am going to start putting together a heap of Christmas ones. Might even do some with 2 people doing the same song and comparing them 😉
I'm not fond of this song, in and of itself. HOWEVER, I do understand the premise behind the song, in the play, and I could listen to and watch Dan sing it every single day, because of HOW he presents it. I had to giggle a bit when you mentioned that a lot of people would go into their falsetto, and he went for the scream. HOWEVER...you will truly need to react to Dan singing (in a secondary tribute to Andre Matos after his sudden death) "Wuthering Heights." I think you will totally love it. 😀 As far as Dan's breath control goes, you are absolutely going to LOVE hearing two of his other songs: "Amazing Grace," and "Black Wind, Fire, and Steel." Chills, to be sure. Dan, too, has been classically trained, AND he has also trained others. Once again, you've done a beautiful reaction. I hope that you will, at some point, on his version of "My Immortal" - EVANESCENCE Male Cover. It's very amazing. Probably the only way you MIGHT be able to get an interview with Dan, would be to watch a few of his "Bro Science" live videos. I know that Viking Reacts has gotten the chance to work with him on a couple of different things. I'm greatly looking forward to more reactions. I'll be checking into Erik reactions and Tommy reactions, as well, when I have the time. Thank you.
Dam it! I forgot you were on last night I had an early night! Dan was good was he Farnham good? I’m going to watch John again then Dan then I will give my opinion! great reaction I learn so much when you do a reaction, I was trained vocally in my teenage years! I’m 50 now I had a stroke January now I can’t sing YET thank you for your channel ❤
If you love this, we need to check out his Phantom of the Opera songs. He has covered 3 or 4 of them. There is nothing Dan Vasc cannot cover, in an excellent way.
Dan and emotion are synonymous. He has tears in his eyes at the end - real ones. Watch his Son of Pain for emotion.
Dan said his tears in Son of Pain were not actually about sadness - but just emotional because he overcame a severe depression and this song speaks to him about that
@@juliaburnette1455 Absolutely. I'm just pointing out the emotion that Dan puts into his renditions.
This is the best performance of this song that I've ever seen.
I have seen some greatness but I think I agree
By far the best!!!

Haha I do have a huge backlog but I am happy to have you around for the ride!!
If you like Disney, watch him sing Mulan! Epic and he makes it his own; so much fun!
On my live stream announcement, this is actually a song that people can go and vote for! I am very excited to see it!!
Oh Y E S ❣️
Incredible ⚘️
@DanVasc !!
Oh, I love this better than the original! He is just amazing!
Can't wait to see your reaction on this one. Oh he is so precious. 🙏❤️
I can't wait for it to go up!! I loved it 😄
I found a lot of artists through Dan.
For something totally unexpected, check his Wuthering Heights.
Dan is always a masterclass! Great reaction.🎉
Couldn't agree more! Thank you so much!
Well done!
Fantastic I am glad to hear 😊😊
If you enjoy musical theater try Dan’s Music of the Night👍❤️ And it you like Evanescence try his Bring me to Life
I will absolutely be looking at both!!
I would recommend Music of the Night (best EVER!), Son of Pain, and his video of Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus" Where HE sings ALL of the parts! Dan is amazing! 💖
❤
LOL, I was just thinking you haven’t heard metal Dan yet. And there he is with the big note. Also, Dan holding a note looooong isn’t an issues. With more reactions you will find out. I think you really need to find a song more “Dan” like My Mother Told Me or I’l Make a Man out of You, but definitely any of Dan’s Sabaton covers 😊 I’m looking forward to any Dan reactions that you do, and probably others that interest me along the way
Thanks ❤🎉🎄🌟😊
Well i do have one suggestion - to showcase his breath control, you should listen to Black Wind Fire and Steel for a surprise note (hehehe, thats all im gonna say😂). That one is heavy metal so not sure its your favorite, but the breath control, insanity
I do love heavy metal so we are good there. I'm keen to hear it!!
Try black wind, fire and steel
Watching your reaction, you want to cry don’t ya!?😉
If I wasn't giving commentary and had to think about what was happening, I think there would have been a very high chance of tears
Need a cigarette after that. ❤ He is so friggin' awesome. ❤ Love your reaction.... Thank you❤
No problem 😊 he truly is outstanding!!
Totally fair!!
Oh I don't expect anything from him interview wise by any means. Just throwing the thought out into the ether 😊
Amazing Grace by Dan V.
He truly does an outstanding job doesn't he!?
"I'm going to judge this song harshly..." lol, right! You were Terribly harsh! ;) For his next ALW song cover, try Music of the Night.
You say you played Judas... I'd like to hear YOUR cover of his opening solo. I don't know the title offhand, but it starts, "My eyes are clearer now. At last I can see..."
I reacted the same way. No words, just beautiful.
I honestly think beyond his skill, talent and beautiful voice, he has the Holy Spirit with him.
It truly is a stunning rendition!
Please please please check out his rendition of Amazing Grace. Best ever!!
I absolutely will 😊
We tried to tell you!😂Keep 'em coming. See you in the next one! Oh, try "Adeste Fidelis" for Christmas!
Absolutely will get to it. I am going to start putting together a heap of Christmas ones. Might even do some with 2 people doing the same song and comparing them 😉
I’m so excited to see the new version of this starring Michael Paynter. He is an amazing singer.
As far as Dan's breath control goes, you are absolutely going to LOVE hearing two of his other songs: "Amazing Grace," and "Black Wind, Fire, and Steel."
Chills, to be sure.
Thank you.
More. Coming for sure!!
PS.... three more to listen to.... Beast in Black (Frozen), Bring Me to life, and The Last Goodby.
Yes, I love "Frozen". Another one is "Faster", a Within Temptation cover
Those of us who know how long he holds the note on Black Wind, Fire and Steel 😉😉😉🩷
Not a worry at all! I hear singing is a great thing to do as exercise for strokes that leave certain side effects so hope you can get back into it!
Now you know...
Subbed!
If you love this, we need to check out his Phantom of the Opera songs. He has covered 3 or 4 of them. There is nothing Dan Vasc cannot cover, in an excellent way.
There are far worse rabbit holes to jump into than Dan's. You will not be sorry.
Remember English is not his first language❤❤❤❤❤❤
Oh of course. I always take this into account no matter who I react to 😊
