I’ve fallen in love with a man from Portugal 💕 I want to be able to talk to his family and friends when I visit him, so wish me luck hehe He’s already so proud of me for trying 🥰
This is great! I must say that I find Portuguese from Portugal easier to understand than Portuguese from Brazil. In my opinion, it's a lot similar to Spanish. I am fluent in Spanish (it was my first language) and I must say I can relate to it a lot more than the Brazilian version. Maybe phonetically it's more familiar. I think it's odd that the Brazilian version pronounces letters T and D as "Chee" and "Gee." For example, forte is pronounced "for-chee" and onde is pronounced "on-gee." For me, those are some clear indicators between Brazilian and European Portuguese. My goal is to one day visit Portugal and speak Portuguese instead of speaking Spanish. I'm sure the Portuguese people would appreciate my effort.
In some regions of Brazil, mainly the northeast and some parts of south, we speak the T and D like in spanish and portuguese from Portugal, with the sounds "Te" and "De" instead of "Tchee" and "Djee". Anyway, the portuguese of portugal is beautiful and you'll be able to comunicate both with brazilians and portuguese.
*My goal is to one day visit Portugal and speak Portuguese instead of speaking Spanish* Spanish???? It's better to use English (unless with older people that don't know English)
You are clearly misinformed on the "T" and "D" thing, by now means this is a Brazilian thing, rather a regional one if you are more critical and don't surrender to myths, you may discover a whole new world. God bless

She is speaking carefully and slowly so as to not delete syllables. English shares with the Portuguese of Portugal the tendency to reduce or entirely delete unstressed syllables. Since we are trying to learn Portuguese, it's fine to show this all the time in the Portuguese examples here. But it's better to keep the English slow and clear, because for non-native speakers of English that's easier to understand. Good decision. This is a very good video!

There is a Russian saying: Concerning taste and colors, there is no friendship. Meaning: It’s ok if we disagree!
