John Tatman thanks a lot John and you’re right on the price but they are very different. We are planning on another comparison coming up and also an off-road video so stay tuned. Thanks again!
Your van is way much cooler than the Winnebago Revel. A custom van over mass production van wins every time in my book. You build it or had some input into building it where the other van had zero input from the user. Be unique, be different. Love your van.
Alex Tot Alex I really appreciate that and get it. I wanted to show a comparison of the two to show some options for people building their own. The Revel is pretty cool and has a lot going on but my van is really low key and to do it all over again it would pretty much be the same. Thanks for the feedback, we really appreciate that!
For $180k for the revel you can get a lot more with another rig or building something yourself. I believe the Winnebago EKKO is AWD and has the roof tent option.
Totally agree and that is why we made the video. To see options and differences between them and make the right decisions on your personal builds. We are releasing a new video next week on using my Elkamp off road and ordering a new one to build out this fall. Stay tuned and thanks for the input!
bill Wilson yep, I got it but not too concerned about diesel and a pretty good buffer between passengers and the fuel. Thanks for the comments and hopefully others consider it. Glad you liked the video!
Tim Lichti not necessarily. If I had to do it all over again I would still pick the Beartooth over the Revel. Great features in it, no doubt but for what we use it for this thing is perfecto! Thanks
@@Fishcamp Yes sir. No disrespect meant. But for my lazy arse, the Revel is more in my wheel house. For a true Overlander I can totally see what you mean. Thanks for the wake up. Have fun my man.
Daryl Schroedinger you bet and definitely in the mix, been wanting to do an off road video for a while. This fall for sure once we get some moisture! Thanks for that
I can see the attraction of both types of vans. A bathroom is a great thing to have sometimes, but takes up an awful lot of space for sometimes use. I think the bottom line is how the vans are going to be used. The Beartooth for rugged adventure and the Revel for sightseeing. Looking at it this way, I would prefer more space inside the sightseeing van. The Revel is way too cramped. A longer wheelbase and/or body extension would make it much more comfortable. Can you imagine trying to get out of that bed without waking another person up? Or having a medium to large dog travelling with you? I really like the Beartooth's flexibility as well. Nice to know you could haul something in the van occasionally. It all depends on your personal priorities and everyone's will be different. I think I would go with the Beartooth and find a place for a small portapotty for emergencies and maybe hang a solar shower off the roof.
Great comments and you totally get what we were trying to point out. I think something in between would attract lots more people’s needs. We plan on doing a video on a Beartooth mid and upper end build out. Was actually just talking about installing a shower and water reservoir that can be removed in the winter, stay tuned for that modification. Thanks again for the feedback, it’s always appreciated and let us know if there is something else you would like to see.
Sorry about that! If you do a quick search for the Revel you’ll come up with an accurate price range. And as far as the Beartooth Vanworks Build out we feel as though disclosing the price isn’t what the video is all about. But if you are super curious go to Beartooth Vanworks’ website and you can get quoted! Thanks for the comment and sorry if you feel we left out any vital information!
Great stuff mate! A couple of questions from a newbie: How does you van handle in dicey terrain and what would the pros and cons of a 170 Sprinter be in your opinion? many thanks
Really appreciate the comment! I feel the 170 would be more difficult in rough country because of the extra weight and length because of the turning radius as well. Yes they are “4x4” but they aren’t like my GMC Duramax that when it’s in four wheel drive, all four wheels are spinning. This system only puts traction to the tires that aren’t spinning even though they have a button to press to change that, it really doesn’t in my opinion. Which is why I have a winch on the front. I’ve been stuck a couple times and had to have a rancher pull me out before installing the winch. They are the best vehicles out there for in their class but really do wish GM came out with a stand up van because I used to have an awd van years ago and you couldn’t get that stuck and had an eight cylinder with plenty of power for towing. Hope that helps and thanks again!
I have a Van Specialties build that I’ve done a lot of customization on. Checked out the Revels and they feel too ‘Winnebago-y’. Too much crammed in to the 144. Felt claustrophobic. Love my Sprinter though!
They definitely aren’t for everyone. I love the space in mine as well. With everything I do I need it to be functional and efficient. Do you have a permanent bed set up or do you fold yours up every day?
Great comparison thanks for the look though I don’t know what the comparison and prices both nice units Beartooth seems to have a great product I’m guessing it’s a lot more money than a production Winnebago
Devon Steel best I’ve gotten has been 17mpg. I’m not impressed as some guys are. My problem with it is it just doesn’t have power to pull uphill, no passing gear or low end. Here in Montana there are a lot of long roads and rolling hills and mountains where you need to be able to climb and it just doesn’t have it. But, I’m ok with it at this point but if/when GM comes out with an 8 cylinder and full size, this is for sale.
Fishcamp Hey thanks for the reply I really appreciate it I’m looking at getting a van in the coming months and all the input helps. I’ve also been looking at different makes and models for those exact reasons. Thanks again
You bet and glad it helps. It is something you just have to embrace and kinda slow down with these things, they are pretty incredible and no other vehicle like them. Good luck
cokolino2 yep, everyone is fleeing Illinois these days. Many moons ago for me but still love going back for my city fix! Great food and great music in Chicago!
Great comparison video I see some people on here are curious to see how they do off road well here’s a video I did with Down2mob on that and I will be releasing the second half this Friday. ruclips.net/video/RyNajZpVPrs/видео.html
Both vans have some great features. The difference in cost, while not mentioned, had to be substantial. Thanks for the comparison.

I agree Alex!! Something custom made is always so much better!!
Rockstars in vans by THE river! Loved seeing you two together!
Haaa! Thanks Bernie!

Storage of fuels on the number is a little sketchy in a rear end accident. Look up Ford pinto accidents. Very cool Van's and videos.
bill Wilson yep, I got it but not too concerned about diesel and a pretty good buffer between passengers and the fuel. Thanks for the comments and hopefully others consider it. Glad you liked the video!
Yeah. Well what is there to be said. Revel hands down. Not even close. Good commercial for Revel.
Tim Lichti not necessarily. If I had to do it all over again I would still pick the Beartooth over the Revel. Great features in it, no doubt but for what we use it for this thing is perfecto! Thanks

Tim Lichti you bet and totally understand, thanks again buddy!
@@Fishcamp no problem. Hope you are having fun. Look forward to seeing more blogs. Keep on keeping on
Have you actually been in a Revel? That thing is too packed for a 144”, zero space to move around.
Excellent tour. Thanks.
Thank you for taking the time, we appreciate the feedback!
Couple of badass vans. Would be interested in seeing how they compare driving/off-road
Daryl Schroedinger you bet and definitely in the mix, been wanting to do an off road video for a while. This fall for sure once we get some moisture! Thanks for that
Great vid! Enjoyed the comparison. Was wondering if you could supply a link for that mattress topper? Thanks!
tjLaManna glad you enjoyed it. Don’t necessarily have a link for the company but should be able to do a search on them. Thanks for the feedback!

You would definitely be surprised, the Rebel is quite a bit more. Get in touch with Beartooth for a quote, think you will like them.
There is no way the Beartooth should be anywhere near the price of a Rebel. Nice rig but BASIC, not at all a mall queen.
Would love a tour of jimmys van!!
James Gideon oh yeah, Jimmies got a van!
Great video. Do you know what brand the Revel’s awning is?
What’s your gas mileage with no trailer and just your van

No toilet and bathroom is a NO from me.
I get it but just don’t want to deal with mess. Ah well.
just the video i needed
Rush Voorhis Outdoors the dude abides! Looking for a van Rush? Hope it answered some questions for ya
ohhh Illinois license plate...... tell everyone to move to Illinois especially to Chicago
cokolino2 yep, everyone is fleeing Illinois these days. Many moons ago for me but still love going back for my city fix! Great food and great music in Chicago!
I prefer Christopher Walken's van.
Haven’t seen it but I bet Chuck Norris’s is better!
